Travelodge Cardiff Airport is commended for its immaculate cleanliness and notably friendly staff, contributing to a positive experience that many guests appreciate. The hotel's atmosphere strikes a chord with travelers who value cleanliness and comfort, despite the rooms being somewhat basic for extended stays. Its tranquil yet convenient location is celebrated for its proximity to the M4, Barry Island, and the airport. While the rooms are generally comfortable, some guests have noted maintenance issues. The hotel's value is often highlighted as guests find the cost reasonable for the amenities provided, though some have mentioned that Wi-Fi incurs a fee.

I am an IHG Diamond Ambassador member and a loyal customer of the holidays Inn chain of hotels, for the benefits and special attention I receive from IHG hotels staff associated with my membership level.
So I was dismayed to learn that the Holiday Inn next to the airport runway is closed to the public and now houses cross channel migrants.

With this in mind I started to look at the other possible options close to the Airport and discovered there was a Travelodge tucked behind a Toby Carvery just off the main road to the airport.

Booking was easy and on arrival was met with a pleasant young man who helped me to my room with my large bags.

The room was immaculate and the comfort of the bed was something you would expect from a much more expense hotel

Food was still being served at the Toby carvery and it turned out to be delicious and very reasonably priced. That and a few pints of Doombar and I was beginning to live the dream so to speak

On returning to the room early as I had an early flight to Amsterdam, I had no trouble falling asleep and on departure I took a to go breakfast with me to eat during my travels.

I will always be a loyal IHG customer but from now on unless they do a drastic upgrade to the Holiday Inn I will continue to use the Travelodge on future trips departing from Cardiff, simply because of the price of the room which was excellent value, the meet and greet on arrival and a room and bed above the standard of the holiday inn currently at Cardiff Airport.

My husband and I travelled to Barry from Birmingham to do the Gavin & Stacey tour. We arrived a little bit earlier than check in time, first impressions when entering this hotel is that it is absolutely spotlessly clean, and smells really fresh.

Ryan helped us at the check in desk and was super friendly, in fact the staff members that we seen during our two night stay were all really polite, helpful and friendly. We were made to feel extremely welcome. This travel lodge honestly puts most other TL’s to shame. This hotel should be higher than 2 stars!...

We both commented that after staying In many TL’s & PI’s this is by far the friendliest and cleanest.

Location is also fab it’s a short drive to the beach, & Toby Carvery is right next door.

We had a taxi to a local curry house too, which taxis are very reasonably priced. Taxi number provided by TL staff member.

The whole of Barry is just such lovely welcoming friendly people.

We are looking forward to our next stay.

On the 22nd of September (Today) we booked a night a this Travelodge and I'm absolutely disgusted!

Let me tell you why....

The room had a strong smell of urine! The bedding hadn't been changed! The bathroom was flooded! There appeared to be brown marks on the carpet which looked and smelled like feces.. the moment you walked in you could smell it! The carpet was also wet! I went and spoke to the gentleman about it at reception and he tried to cover up the fact the room had marks on the carpet and said it was bleach when it clealry wasn't. He was fully aware it was something else! He was so rude! Whether it's a one star or a five star hotel I would expect the rooms to be cleaned and staff to speak in an appropriate manner.

My wife and I arrived in this Travelodge in Barry, near Cardiff Airport, on Sep 19, 2021 intending to 'bed down' for two weeks because of personal circumstances. From the moment we stepped into our room along the corridor in the heart of the premises we got the feeling we made the correct choice. This place is impeccable. Our room is spotless, the shower room seems brand new and everything works. An automatic vacuum cleaner even keeps the corridor carpet fresh throughout the day! There are no smells even though the hotel is just across a car park from a very efficient Toby grill which we have found so convenient and, like this hotel, very friendly. Seems South Wales does OK when it comes to looking after customers. The staff here are helpful and can't seem to do enough to please. We have visited hotels of all classes from A to Z on every continent and for the price we pay here feel we have done alright. Would we stay here again? Without a doubt.

We come by taxi from Cardiff City Centre to this Travelodge we’d stayed previous night Bristol City Centre Travelodge so our expectations very low.
Taxi dropped us off we walked in to this lovely smell, fresh, Chris greeted us, answered all our questions, booked our taxi for the morning, talked to us for ages spent time with us, talked us through how the keys worked, gave us extra tea’s, milks.
Clearly this guy goes the extra 2 miles, if it was my business I’d pay him double to keep him, he takes takes pride in himself and his job.
The room is so comfortable, extra pillows, towels and beautifully quiet, after our dreadful experience in the Bristol Travelodge last night, so bad we were 100% refunded, Chris reassured the nightshift does walk arounds to make sure all quiet & good (Bristol Anchor Road Travelodge take note) .

This Travelodge is well-maintained and comfortable. Everything is clean and fresh smelling. The room was warm and welcoming on arrival and it was easy to adjust the temperature for your needs. The only food option nearby is a Toby Carvery, which may or may not be to your taste. You can stock up on some items at a reasonably sized Co-op at the petrol station up the road. My only issue was Wi- Fi. The TV would not work either, although I could get radio. Reception was not always manned, so it was hard to bring this to anyone's attention.

I’m a IHG Diamond Elite Ambassador member who usually stays at an IHG hotels for obvious reasons ie points special treatment etc.
I travel frequently and usually out of Cardiff to Amsterdam and onwards.
This facilitates me staying at an airport nearby.
Holiday Inn has been taken over to house immigrants so I looked at the nearby hotels and found the Travel lodge next to the Toby Carvery
The rooms are as clean if not cleaner than the Holiday inn and the beds way more comfortable and the food next door was great and good value as well, so much so that even though my loyalty still lies with IHG, when staying near Cardiff Airport overnight I will now make the Travelodge my choice in that instance.
Also the price was great for the room as well so no complaints only compliments

A good place for an overnight stop prior to a flight from Cardiff Airpprt. Very clean and tidy. Beds were comfortable and even though the hotel is situated at the side of a main road it was very quiet. The member of staff that was at reception was very friendly and helpful. Nothing wrong with this place. If I fly from the airport in the future would have nonissies staying here again.

Although busy the hotel was quite quiet. Well presented with friendly and helpful staff, this hotel is well located for visiting the local area and the nearby airport, although crossing the main road for access/exit required care at busy times of the day. The available breakfast boxes were nicely sized to start the day although the breakfast buffet at the Inn next was very popular and ideal for those who like a heartier breakfast. Ideal for a short stay in the area
