Marlo cottage was a great find perfectly situated for a weekend in Beechworth. Cottage was a great balance of period and renovated modern. I was a little surprised that booking was direct (used to the standard booking websites) and it did seem a little unorganised but in the end we were warmly welcomed and had a great stay. I would...

Marlo Cottage is a beautifully restored period house right in the centre of Beechworth. The lack of reviews on Tripadvisor seemed a bit odd, but the place looked great on-line so I took a chance and booked (very pleased that I did!). What an absolute gem, beautifully restored period cottage, with all the luxuries you expect for a relaxing holiday away. Comfy beds, lovely bathrooms, with tasteful french soaps and hand wash..lovely cosy nights by the fire. I highly recommend xxxxxxlove Marlo xxxxxx

We have just returned home after a beautiful weekend in Beechworth,our favourite town. Marlo is in the centre of town on Camp St, just a short stagger from the Wine Press Tapas Bar, and 2 minutes from the local IGA and a plethora of specialty shops and restaurants. The historical precinct is around the corner. So easy to access almost...

I was initially hesitant to book this self service cottage, as there wasn't many reviews online. Luckily I did, because what an amazing cottage. Tastefully renovated and centrally located to all shops/tourist attractions. No doubt we will be returning.

We stayed for a long weekend. The cottage had every convenience that could need. The cottage was very central which meant that we could walk everywhere. We will definitely return to this quality cottage

'Marlo' is a self-contained three-bedroom cottage with accommodation for up to six people in three queen size beds just minutes to Beechworth's historic town centre. in the 19th century 'Marlo' was originally home and studio to Beechworth's leading portrait photographer J H Bray, who reportedly took Ned Kelly's photograph in the upstairs room. The cottage is fully renovated with lovely old furniture it is situated near the central crossroads of Beechworth. The top floor bedroom has an ensuite with full bath built in what was once the photographer's development room. There is a separate bathroom for the two downstairs bedrooms. Ideally suited to couples and friends, children may stay at the discretion of the Management. The lounge is equipped with a gas log fireplace, smart TV and comfortable lounge and chairs. There are books on the shelves either side of the fireplace and board games in the drawers below. The dining area has leadlight windows and is adjacent to the modern kitchen with an induction cooktop. For your convenience a supply of tea and plunger coffee is provided. At the rear there is a paved enclosed courtyard complete with gas BBQ, water feature, table and chairs. The front verandah has a bench, table and chairs from which to view passers by, the clock tower on the post office and the fine granite wall of one of the 19th century banks. Since 'Marlo' was a photographers studio, it has provided accommodation, studio space and housing. More recently it was a dentist's clinic. ... more   less
