We had 2 lovely nights at Emeu for the food and wine festival. This fantastic B&B is in a great location and the hosts Leslye and Fred are friendly, welcoming and thoughtful. Spotlessly clean and very comfortable we would definitely recommend Emeu to anybody staying in Heathcote.

Just like the title says ! Fantastic B&B right in the heart of Heathcote and walking distance too all amenities. We attended the Heathcote on Show weekend and couldn't think of a better place to stay. Leslye's hospitality was excellent and very welcoming almost as good as her

On arrival, we didn't feel welcomed. We could see that Leslye had hurt her leg, and felt that she just wanted to show us straight to our room. We had problems with the water (you're not supposed to drink tap water as it's not clean so they have a tank) but there wasn't an

It was made clear to me UPON LEAVING that these guests were not happy, and I feel really bad about that. Prior to arriving, we had numerous emails discussing price, facilities, breakfast and other things. There were obviously some things that were unclear, and rather than ask, these guests kept concerns to themselves until they left. We serve breakfast between 8.30-9.30 am most days, but at 9.30, we don't kick you out. You can stay as long as you like. We have four cereals, a variety of breads including homemade sour dough (some of which was still in the basket when we cleaned up the second day, but if someone wanted more, you only need ask), homemade jams, preserved fruit, yoghurt and juice. The choices for jam, fruit and juice were different each day. On the first morning two water bottles were brought to breakfast. I explained that I would be doing a mini clean and refilling bottles, but if he wanted more, there were some on the buffet for him to take. I asked if he wanted it chilled or not, and it didn't matter, he said. I did take more bottles to the room, but the empty bottles in the room were not noticed by my husband when he went to spray the ants, and no one asked for more. I had explained on check in that our town water was not great, so drink the tank water we bottled. Unfortunately, Heathcote is very dry and ants are looking for water. I was not surprised that ants had come in, in spite of quarterly pest control visits, but this was an intrusion, which we couldn't do much about except use some surface spray. We apologised and then my husband sprayed and cleaned up, but the sticky stuff under the bin wasn't moving. In retrospect, I wish I had gone into the room to see the ants and to clean the ant bait off the floor under the bin. The guests said I didn't make them feel welcomed and so they didn't ask for more water, to have breakfast later or for anything else. I was in a lot of pain, but other guests reported how friendly and welcoming I was. So, I am sorry if that was how I came across, but I love our guests and always tell them if they need anything, one of us is available to help. It's the way I do things. This is an overall bad situation, but I also believe guests need to ask if they want or need something. We are only too happy to assist. These guests did briefly talk to me before leaving, however, that was too late to change anything. If I had been informed of any of these issues, I could have done better.

We stayed here for a night recently and loved the hospitality from Rocky, Leslye & Fred. Rooms were clean and spacious, nothing flash but very comfortable. Yummy breakfast as well, you gotta try Fred’s homemade sourdough toast!

"The room cabins at the back are quieter and do have a spa in each room"
"Definitely pay more for 'luxury' rooms. Although not really luxurious, they are better than the rooms on the road or off the breakfast room."
"not on the road and ask for the one in the photo"
"Traffic noise is not an issue for us but if you're bothered by it a room at the back would be better."
"Ask for one of the external suites. Not sure if they cost more, but is quiet and gardeny."
