Fantastic property that felt homely and comfortable. Plenty of communal space to relax and enjoy the open fire. Staff were attentive and friendly. The room was clean, well laid out and I was pleasantly surprised at the size of both my room and bed as I had booked a single. The food was exceptional, and the view over the lakes at breakfast was wonderful. Everything exceeded my expectations and I look forward to staying again in the future.

We came across The Old Hall whilst coming up with a Plan B as our holiday abroad had just been cancelled. Originally we were looking for a one nights stay as we moved across the country to our next destination, however, we immediately fell in love with the photos and description on the website so decided to change our plans and stay for two nights and believe me you need to stay for at least to nights to get the full benefit of a stay at this wonderful place.

Just driving down the long sweeping drive through the grounds gives you the impression of arriving somewhere special and then the house magically appears looking majestic and grand.

Up entered through a beautiful oak door into a large central reception area where we were greeted and shown to our room. We were staying the Morbey room which is a room at the front of the house. A very large bed occupied one wall and the rest of the furniture was in keeping with the period feel to the room. There was a grand bay window with seating overlooking a hedged terraces it all felt very indulgent.

The ensuite bathroom was very spacious and bright, we have stayed in smaller hotel rooms than the bathroom in this property. The bathroom had both a freestanding roll top bath and a large separate shower. These were at either end of the bathroom with a large vanity unit between them.

You were given a time for breakfast each morning and we sat in the window at the rear of the property overlooking the lake and gardens with Ely Cathedral in the distance. Breakfast is cooked to order and was absolutely delicious there are not many places that offer Eggs Benedict or Eggs Royale. They also do the traditional full English if that is more to your fancy.

We didn't get to fully appreciate the grounds this property stands in due to the vagaries of the British weather but what we did see was truly stunning.

We felt safe and secure with Covid arrangements at this property and if you want a wonderful and sumptuous break we thoroughly recommend this property just remember to book for two nights.

This really is the most wonderful residence set in an outstanding location looking across to the magnificance of Ely Cathedral. The property is primarily used as a location for wedding partys and I would be hard pushed to think of a more beautiful setting to hold such an event.
The family that run the house have been owners for several generations and you can see the loving care and attention that has been lavished on this property during its restoration and development into the wonder it is today.
The gardens are an absolute delight and the small team that maintain them do so with outstanding attention to detail and great care. Rarely have I enjoyed a stroll through such beautiful grounds which are not part of a National Trust or similar property.
From the moment we arrived we were treated as honoured family guests. Our room was without fault and the main public areas provided ample seating and the warmth from a raging log fire. This is not your average B&B. It is first and foremost a wedding venue of the highest order. That said, I would be hard pressed to find a more suitable location for a short stay or a major family party.
Dinner is not served every night but the night we dined in was much appreciated. Great menu, excellent service and a stunning location all made extra special by the attentive staff. In these difficult Covid times one can only applaud the common sense and good measures the Old Hall have put in place to keep guests and staff alike safe and well.
Special thanks to Totes for making us feel so welcome and to all the team we encountered. Extra special thanks to the husband and wife team that tend the wonderful gardens with assistance from a nephew we believe. They really are worth a special mention as rarely have I seen such well tended grounds outside the great gardens seen at National Trust and the like.
So, thank you to all at Old Hall for making us so welcome during difficult times and showing that investment in training and customer care really does pay a dividend. We will return for sure.

From start to finish a brilliant day. Staff attentive, professional but with a caring attitude. Planning withe staff was good. Food served of a very high quality with sensible portion sizes. Hotel 4 star. Checkout from the hotel is 10am but this is reasonably when you consider that This is primarily a wedding venue and they have to have time to turnaround the for the next wedding. We had a winter wedding but the garden and the setting for the outdoor wedding looked idyllic. Make sure you visit and check it out

The second time I have splashed out for a luxurious and comfortable overnight work stay, which didn’t disappoint. A beautiful hotel in lovely grounds and surroundings. The room and bathroom suite were just perfect and given the need for an early departure, staff were very accommodating of allowing me to take away some snacks for the trip. I would definitely love to return again in the future.

We stayed at The old Hall Ely for one night, Sunday and bank Holiday Monday. We requested an early check in for 3pm to make the most of our stay. We booked the Steward room as it looked luxurious and it certainly was. The room is decorated in pastel blue. The bed is huge and so comfortable. There is a beautiful view of the well maintained gardens. The bathroom is massive and has a huge shower and gorgeous bath. The shower mat is located in the shower cubicle to use for both. The staff were so friendly and can't do enough for you. The grounds are vast and well landscaped to the highest detail. I especially loved the hedges with the trees cut in. You choose your time for breakfast on arrival 7am to 9am. We had 8.30am. We managed to sit at the table by the window, such a lovely view of the courtyard garden. The breakfast was delicious. Well presented and plentiful. The sausage and bacon were good quality. The lady who served us was so friendly and made you feel welcome.
We really enjoyed our stay and will definitely return. Thank you so much.

What a beautiful house! We stayed in the Steward room and it was so spacious as was the bathroom. The bed was so comfy and we think the shower was one of the best we had ever had. At 4:30 on the day of our arrival we had complimentary afternoon tea and cake although plenty of tea and coffee in your room too. Pre dinner drinks and then a delicious dinner. . Who is their chef! Absolutely brilliant. We both slept very well and then enjoyed another well cooked and tasty breakfast. Service throughout our stay was excellent and we would love to return when their gardens are finished. All in all a great birthday treat.

Positioned in well kept grounds just outside Ely but with magnificent views of Ely and the cathedral on the top of the hill. The Old Hall has been tastefully developed into what I would guess is the one of “THE” wedding venues in the county.

However it also functions equally well as a hotel. The rooms are very comfortable, clean, and well appointed. The breakfasts are excellent. Dinner is only served on Thursday through the weekend, we were lucky to be there on a Thursday and thoroughly enjoyed our dinner.

Great experience, a great place to go and relax in difficult times, worth the premium, nothing to fault.

We are a party of 2 (one vegan and one veg) and the hotel staff not only remembered but the chef made us a special menu for breakfast and dinner. The food was made on the day (not shop bought ready meals) and had it's own twist of unique tastes, which makes a difference to someone who only gets steamed vegetables on a vegan menu, hats off to the chef and would definitely recommend keeping the sweet potato curry on the menu.

It's not all about the food though. I have to mention the fantastic staff across the hotel. Everyone made us feel welcome and was so easy to spark up conversation on a whim. From the way they managed the social distancing to general housekeeping it was all professional and quality driven!

The room was to a high standard too. Great view (I imagine all the rooms have a great view due to the location), and the bed was really comfortable.

I'd like to thank the staff at the hotel for making this a wonderful stay. The hotel is kept clean with new laws taken into consideration. I would recommend this to anyone vegan or not.

Stunning Hotel set in beautiful Ely country side . We stayed 1 night in the Cromwell room which was excellent, roomy with stunning views of the cathedral from the bath tub..
Breakfast was nicely served but basic in choices
Although there was some building work going on outside our window and during breakfast the noise was kept to a minimum.
The gardens here are stunning, beautifully kept by what must be multiple full time staff.
So what would it need for me to give it 5 stars.
Don’t really like having to knock on a office door to ask to check out.
Better choices at breakfast, different types of croissants, yogurts and nice bread for toast .
But the big one for me is the 16.30 check in and 10.00 check out surly this could be better

Hi, Apologies for the late reply, we did not revieve notification we had a message. We can cater for any and all dietary needs, so it would not be a problem to serve a vegan breakfast. We do just need to know in advance of the stay.
