I know this is an old building, but because of the variety of small yet irritating inconveniences we encountered during our stay, we would not return to this B &B. The cold water faucet didn't just drip, it RAN constantly, which we only figured out because at first we thought it was just plain broken, as nothing happened when we turned the cold water faucet handle. At some point we realized the valve below the sink was shut off, and so to get cold water, you had to turn that on first...then turn it off when you were done...it was separate from the hot water faucet, so basically there was no "warm" water....just hot or cold....and cold only if you were willing to mess with the valve beneath the sink repeatedly. The wireless internet access didn't work. The DVD player was not hooked up --- we had to pull the tv out, unplug the cable from the back of the tv, and plug in the DVD player whenever we wanted to use it. There are no thermostats in the room. The thermostat is out in the foyer. No problem, right? But wait....it is behind a GIANT armoire....to access it you have to pull out a big drawer (get a friend to hold it for you), use the flashlight you find in the drawer, and look for the hole cut out of the back of the armoire....the thermostat is back there. Unfortunately it controls temp in both rooms, so hopefully the people staying in the suite next to you won't object to your temperature preferences! It would probably be good information for folks to know that this is a second story room above the main street shops....you have to haul your luggage up a steep flight of antique steps.....if you are lucky enough to park on the main street. If you end up parked in back, you will have to haul your luggage all the way around the block to the front. Although you could use the "private" entrance in back....a steep, deadly iron spiral staircase. I wouldn't go up and down that thing by myself much less carrying luggage. There is no breakfast....vouchers for several local eateries....about 2/3 of which we never could find, or they were closed at the time we were looking to eat (we are fairly early risers, try finding a breakfast at 7am, it ain't happening!) The room is decorated cute if you like shabby chic. Fixtures are genuine, wood floors, all that...if that's your thing, you will probably find it charming. I didn't mind, but since they advertised some modern amenities like internet access and a dvd player it would be nice if those things actually worked. I did like being so close to the main street....easy to go shopping, find a place to eat, etc. We were in the BACK suite (the one with the deck and the hot tub) and I wonder how noisy the front suite (which faces the street) might be.... Overall, we had a relaxing weekend, but were disappointed in the QUALITY of this B & B. Wouldn't return.…
