The location of the Al Patton Suites (Hemingway and Barcelona) is great but the Suites aren’t. We booked a last minute trip to Fburg for the 4th of July holiday and realizing it was last minute I was worried there wouldn’t be much to choose from. I was surprised to see these two suites located directly on Main Street and...

Nice enough for a cute place to stay but a complete pain because there was no wifi available. Lightning, 4G and 3G does not function in Fredericksburg. The suite was setup in a fun way. I enjoyed being near to downtown. Easy walking access to downtown. Private parking spot in back. Visited August 2013.

After reading some of the reviews we were not sure about this place. Yes you enter from the back and walk down a halway and it smells like pizza. You walk up some historic stairs ( funny how the "historic" stairs and floors make noise) and you arrive to your room. Our room, the Hemingway was clean, tidy, and organized....

This is the second time we have stayed here and I definitely enjoyed this time more. We stayed in the Barcelona this time and it was much better than the Hemingway. The only gripes we had were that the remote for the TV needed fresh batteries and there was not enough coffee to make even two cups. Other than that,...

Almost everything was exceptional. My boyfriend didn't care for the potholes in the driveway though, and it would have been nice to have a dresser or something to put clothes in in the bedroom (we stayed in the hemingway) since the closet was locked. The pizza place downstairs was wonderful, they weren't too loud at all, and the smell was...

We recently stayed two nights at the A.L. Patton Barcelona Suite, and it was a fine place to stay. Being New Yorkers we thought the place was immense, with a huge bathroom, good sized kitchen, living room, and bedroom. Though it wasn't sparkling clean, I didn't notice any real mess, and being in a "rustic" B and B, I guess...

We booked this on-line with 1st Class Bed & Breakfast in Fredericksburg who have many B&Bs listed. We wanted to stay somewhere close to town so we could just walk. When we arrived in the Hemingway Suite, we were assaulted with the delicious smell of pizza. The only problem is when cooking pizza often there is the smell of burned...

We spent a night in the Barcelona Suite. The first thing you notice when you walk in is all the locks on the cabinets/ closets. Not even a place to hang your clothes without moving a chair. But if you DO move the chair, you can't walk around the bed. And what ever happened to cleaning? Our bathroom had mildew...

Pros: Beautiful historic building Large, spacious accomodations Good access to Main Street Privacy [at least during winter months] Cons: Poor housekeeping: We had to visit a local supermarket to buy items that would be standard in a cheap chain motel; most glass surfaces grimy and sticky Loud heater Guest clothes closet locked [apparently they store cleaning materials in it] Inoperable...

We stayed at the AL Patton recently for our first Fredericksburg B&B experience, and and there were good and bad things about the room (Hemingway Suite). First the good: The location is great, just at the western end of Main. We were only a short walking distance from most of the shops and the restaurants. Walking into the suite, it...
