Extremely RUDE owner and that is putting it nicely. When two of our guests checked in his exact words were 'WHAT DO YOU WANT"? He takes your $$$ and disappears except when you are serving dinner and wedding cake - then he magically appears ready to eat. He was an embarrassment. Many of our guests expressed their extreme displeasure in... More

A total of 9 of us stayed in the Ranch House and used it as the base camp of our cycling tour. The Ranch House is rustic and gorgeous as is the surrounding property. Cell coverage is spotty and there isn’t WIFI access which we didn’t mind one bit!!!! It’s a retreat deep in the hill country, plenty to see... More

Took the kids, very peaceful. It was a great place to sit and relax. The cabins were nice, clean and comfortable. Meet the owner very nice man already planning another trip. My son and I spent a lot of time walking around the ranch and up at the western town replica. We watched deer walk around the property as well... More

This cabin was filthy and had rodent droppings. There was no food for breakfast, no coffee, and cooking utensils were sparse. The grill was dirty, but get there was propane in the tank. The Jacuzzi was dirty, and there was food (cheetos) under the upstairs beds. The television was tiny, and hardly had any channels to view. There was barely... More

The house is nice from the outside, quiet with pretty scenery, and off the main road (20 miles from town). I loved that this place was animal friendly! Would have been nice to have extra towel, kitchen towels, wash clothes, and coffee, as these are only supplied for the first day. Maybe a good Idea to inform people in the... More

This place saved my friend's wedding! On Friday, September 20th, it poured all day long, there was a flash flood warning/watch issued. They tried to book at another location, but they called claiming that due to the flash flood the roads leading to the original location had been washed out. After frantic calling and searching, this place saved the wedding!... More

Four of us (two couples) stayed in the Settler's Cabin (bedrm and bath downstairs along with kitchenette and living area; bedrm and bath upstairs in the loft, reached by outside stairs). The cabin itself was a rustic log structure, typical of the pretty local architecture, clean, nicely decorated, and seemed well-supplied although we only spent one night and didn't take... More

We really enjoyed our stay here. The place is in a good location, where you can get to both Fredricksburg and Enchanted Rock in about 15 minutes. My wife and I split the settlers cabin with some friends. The cabin itself was a nice mix of rustic charm and modern conveniences. It's a great place to stay if you want... More

For the past 3 years, a group of families from Houston had made it a tradition to go to Tin Star every summer, and rent all the cabins. The past 2 years had been great. We always use the large house as a gathering/eating place, then can go off to our individual cabins for sleep or privacy. It's not fancy,... More

“Bring closed toe shoes, there a lot of rocks that could get stuck in sandals or flip flops and heels would be dangerous to walk around in, unless you plan on staying indoors. Also bring a spare pillow as the pillows that are provided are very thin.”
