We recently stayed 2 nites in the RV section. The sites are gravel, but level with full hookups. While staying, we enjoyed walking around the grounds. There is a beautiful courtyard with a fireplace. At nite you can go in the office & ask for the fire to be lit. If the skies are clear, they have a star show....

We camped in a tent in May 2016 on our way to Big Bend NP. We knew about the train but thought it was OK. However as night fell the trains began rolling just outside the campground. We did not hear them during daylight. There were all together about 7 trains coming through during the night. It was nearly impossible...

This was our third time to stay at the Marathon Motel. Each time we have stayed, we have been reluctant to leave .On this occasion, our traveling companions had one side of a restored duplex cabin and we had the other. Each room was spacious enough to comfortably contain two queen beds, a bedside table and lamp, a small desk,...

we rented a "duplex". it is small- 2 beds, a small closet, nowhere to put you clothes. the bathroom is small. it is, afterall, an old motel. a storm came in and the wind blew hard. the curtains moved, with every wind gust. the windmill was right behind us. they desperately need to grease it. it sounded horrible and was...

We stayed here for one night on the way to Big Bend. We wanted to stay in the Gage hotel but they were fully booked due to a wedding (we did eat there and it was great). Staff at reception were helpful and booked us a table at the Gage. We stayed in the apartment as it was the only...

Stopped for one night. Has a motel and RV sites. Gravel sites that are level. Only one shower but a nice one. Happened that they were having a stargazing event that night right at the hotel. Owner was running the telescope and was very helpful and informative. A unique experience with the very dark sky! Saw the Orion Nebula. Amazing!

We have been camped here in our RV since mid March and will be leaving in about two weeks. We have had no problems whatsoever, have found our stay very pleasant. The grounds are beautiful and well-maintained. We are in the area closest to the highway but there is little road noise. There are a couple of freight trains daily...

The Marathon Motel has some unique rooms, including some duplex cottages that are rustic but very comfortable and clean. There is a plaza area where you could socialize with others or enjoy a fire in the fire-pit. The motel is right across the highway from the Train tracks and during the night you may hear the train but that's part...

At first look a my room, I was unimpressed. It's old, small, double bed, tube tv, pull light in bathroom! HOWEVER, after initial shock, found room to be efficient since you're only sleeping there! Grounds are lovely and friends I was travelling with ( they had another room) and I spent our evening on the beautiful grounds. There's a great...
