Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

This is actually the fourth visit we have made to Vouliagmeni and have stayed at the Amarilia Hotel the last three visits. This hotel has the distinction of hosting a particular group of runners who participate in the annual Athens Marathon whom we were also a part of this last November (for nearly 2 weeks). There have been impressive upgrades to Hotel Amarilia since our last visit, so it made returning just as nice as the last times we've come and even more so. The website shows it! The location is ideal... just a hop, skip and jump to the beautiful Aegean shoreline and beaches welcoming with its warm waters to take that dip anytime you desire. The paved sidewalk takes you as far as you want to explore along the shoreline and there is truly so much to see, sometimes unexpected? but delightful to encounter and remember. Always nice for us to approach locals on our morning walk and greet them with a friendly "Kalimera" (Greek for good morning) and get the same in kind with smiles! A Greek Orthodox Church and tiny chapel (to walk into) are just a corner away from the hotel and sometimes you can hear the bells toll or, by chance, the singing of chants. not to mention restaurants that dot the beach. Just part of the ambience that makes the Amarilia a special place to stay and enjoy the beauty of Greece in this resort community. Hotel Amarilia provided us with a quiet, clean and comfortable room complete with a safe, coffee maker and refrigerator. Our room with its private balcony, gave us a view of palm trees and orange trees to enjoy with even a glimpse of the Aegean! The housekeeping staff were always dependable and freshened up our rooms or gave us privacy with just providing us with fresh towels and essentials when we requested them for these services. The heart of the Amarilia are the people who are there for you. We personally know these staff from our stays at the hotel. They make being there for the short while of our stay, noteworthy. They are very approachable and nice to know!!! Appreciation and gratitude to Giannis (at the front desk, professional and always nice to converse with) who gave of his time to print our boarding passes when others did not seem to have the time, to Katerina and Mariana who are such sweet, kind ladies at the breakfast room especially(others there are also hard workers but we haven't had a chance to meet them all) The cooks do a wonderful job at providing a great and plentiful breakfast! To Alex, who takes care of the bar/dining area...put together meals for us when we 'dined-in' at the hotel ...friendly and welcoming! By the way, the hotel comes with its own special Fur Buddies...Pepito, the pet dog, and a cat whose name shall remain nameless. They are usually the greeters at the front door and come to be loved by all who stay at Hotel Amarilia,

Friendly and helpful staff allowed us to check in early and gave us boxed breakfast sandwiches when we left at 5 am for early flight. Hotel arranged prompt reliable taxi for 30 minute easy ride to airport. Comfortable beds (but no mattress pad and just a flat sheet instead of fitted one to cover the mattress ). Minimalist room (but unusable modern sink and worn cheap furniture). Balcony view of charming red-roofed church and the glittering sea beyond (but framed in by 2 high rise hotels). Easy one block walk to the beach and nice waterside restaurants. Highly recommend Lasithi Bar and Restaurant about a block south along the beach. All in all, a pleasant, comfortable, and convenient stay with great service.

Hotel claims to be 4 star, although lobby is renovated the rooms are more like a 2.5 star. They are clean, but basic. Bathrooms are SMALL, and smell. Shower is either burning or freezing. ZERO amenities. I have stayed in many hotels worldwide and I know what 4 star is, this is not even close. I believe they need to review and be more honest.

We had our annual conference in the Amarilia Hotel. It was a wonderful experience and even when not everything was perfect, the Amarilia Team made the difference. They were wonderful hosts and did everything possible to read our wishes from our eyes. Thank you very much!

This hotel pretends to be a four-star hotel, but it's more like a three-star hotel. The photos on the web site make it seem like the Amarilia is a very modern hotel right near the beach. This is not the case. While the lobby is fine, and the employees are quite nice, the hotel itself is very simple, with small, boring, loud rooms. The photos also make it seem like the hotel is right on the beach, but this is not true. The hotel is probably around 300 meters from the beach, and all of the "sea view" rooms are just small rooms overlooking an empty lot, a street, and the distant ocean. The breakfast also was very simple with only a few choices. If you want a cheap hotel a few minutes away from the ocean, this hotel will work fine for you. But don't expect anything more than that. My room (401) had a broken phone, a broken chair at the desk (only two of the four legs were attached), and was very basic.

Very nicely presented room. Clean fresh and modern. I booked a partial sea view. This was perfect for me as It was in shade all day. I have COPD and temps above 30 are difficult. My visit was part of a party to celebrate my Nephews Wedding. Breakfast included such delights as a frame of honeycomb. Absolutely delicious and different . Ideal to dip you croissant in. I only stayed 4 nights and towel and bathmat was perfect. I do not understand why Tea/coffee in room involved cardboard cups and no milk? That is the only reason for 4* not 5*

Everything as promised. Excellent choice at breakfast. Efficient and plentiful staff in breakfast room. Corteous desk staff.. Barfood was good and the room service if needed. Pool very cold but that ensured not too many people in there. Shower over the bath was inconvenient but I managed.

Hotel was alright. My room had no view, a tiny bathroom with an unusable sink for washing face, a low flow shower and a toilet with no space in front to place legs. I do not recommend breakfast except for the yogurt station. It's more like a European 2 star hotel.
