2nd time for us! Fantastic hotel, staff are fun and can’t do enough for you! We were celebrating an 18th birthday when we were there February half term and they decorated the dining area, put on a quiz and the chef baked a fab cake! Great location allowing our teenage children to ski independently. We will be back 2024!

Being a solo skier staying in an hotel where if you wish there is the opportunity to so socialise with other guests is such a wonderful experience. This happens when you eat together each evening if you wish and around the fire in the comfortable lounge after. The fact that the hotel is situated next to the slopes means you can easily slip in and out throughout the day.The added bonus is that, if you wish , there is the opportunity for a solo skier to go off with other guests. The resort is friendly and relaxed and ideal for families.Lastly as someone who has stayed many times I can assure you that the staff at the hotel go out of there way to make yours an enjoyable stay. One last comment,I have coeliac disease and am extremely intolerant to gluten. The chef in charge has always ensured I have no problem with my meals

Another fantastic ski trip, despite having not been back for many years due to a house move. I was overwhelmed by how thing were just as good as ever if not better with extra ski lifts. The club skiing was excellent and the friendliness of the staff as ever brilliant. As a solo traveller this is all important- I’ll be back again next year.

This is my second time to Valmeiner staying at the Hotel L'Aigle travelling with Slowcoach. Firstly Slowcoach. It was a bit of a Palava when we met at South Mimms. We had to drop all the kit off at South Mimms services, then drop the car off at The Premier Inn car park,(leaving someone to stay with the Kit), then walk back. The walk isn't far, but its along a muddy path. We were met by one of the slowcoach team at South Mimms Services who gave us our seat numbers. All aboard we made our way to Valmeiner. We had a couple of collections on the way to Dover. There was a 3 hour delay getting on the ferry, but that was no fault of slowcoach. Once across the channel we were on our way. The coach was comfortable. Blankets were provided, and a film. I can't fault the drivers. They were amazing. We had plenty of toilet stops and leg stretches. We arrived late at L'Aigle due to the earlier delay. But it was fine. Breakfast was waiting for us and the staff were great getting our ski equipment. The rooms were adequate with clean bedding and plenty of storage. Our sink got blocked during our stay. It was immediately fixed. Well done team. Chef:- Brilliant. Every day we had some lovely biscuits and cakes, followed by a lovely 3 course meal. I wouldn't like to pick a favourite, but the Duck. Wow. Pretty special. oh and the chicken pie. And whilst I'm on a roll, the lasagne. You get the picture. Staff. I love the fact the staff sit at the table and serve the meals. Gives us a great chance to chat and get to know them. Maddie was lovely and Fuzz with her fantastic Irish accent. I can't wait to do the next Quiz with Fuzz. The only one bad experience I had was Tom. He can be a bit rude and Intolerant. Particularly in the mornings. Mainly a great week. Great skiing. Great service. Thank you

Homely and rustic hotel with the friendliest and most helpful staff you could ever wish for. The term customer service does not do justice for the genuine and fun staff who especially made my four year olds stay a brilliant one. Nothing was too much trouble for them. All superstars but special mentions for Fuzz who provided the after ski childcare and kept my son entertained and put at ease straight away after his anxiety of being the only English speaking child in his ski school. Also to Josh who also kept my boy entertained throughout the week and finally to Drew who also looked out for Callum and went the extra mile at meal time to ensure he had something to eat. Room clean and functional with plenty of storage space and perfect shower. Super food all week and free flowing free wine during the meal. A lovely atmosphere with staff and guests alike mingling and having fun. Great proximity to the slopes and a hidden gem of a resort that I think the French have understandably wanted to keep for themselves. Good amount of varied slopes that are not too busy and a pretty little resort centre with a smattering of shops, bars and restaurants plus a handy spar over road from hotel. Finally flexible options for coach or sorting out your own flights and the hotel lays on the transfers for a very reasonable cost. Literally the perfect ski holiday. Well done Snowcoach you’ve nailed it!

Looking at other reviews of Snowcoach, I would honestly have been put off if I wasn't a previous customer. We decided to chance it anyway and have not been disappointed. Clearly Snowcoach (and the travel industry in general) has had a very tough few years and their service levels dropped, but this year has been as good as we remember so they've definitely picked it back up again. Be aware before you book, this is a completely no frills skiing holiday in a very basic hotel, don't expect any luxury. This is of course reflected in their attractive pricing. For what you get the price is extremely good. Included in our total package was: 1. Transport by coach from London, this was pretty comfortable as coaches go and we slept well. I'd definitely recommend going for the P&O club lounge on the way out as you get a full hot meal, all you can drink (incl beer/wine/champagne/spirits), and plenty of snacks. If you're like me the free alcohol definitely helps get to sleep on the coach! Get Snowcoach to book this for you as they get special rates not available to the general public. Biggest criticism of the coach journey is the annoying film they put on pretty late in the evening. Everyone has their own devices nowadays so please stop this infuriating practice so we can watch our own stuff or fall asleep in peace. 2. Hotel room for 5 nights. The rooms are small and could probably do with a refurbishment. However the beds are reasonably comfy and there's plenty of space to put your ski gear. Additional heaters are provided in the rooms so you won't be cold. 3. 2 hot meals a day. Breakfast is a small hot buffet with some french pastries, cereal, toast etc. Dinner is a 4 course meal served in a "dinner party" style. You're at a large table with other guests and a member of staff is on the table to serve you. The food is basic but generally tasty, we didn't have a bad meal. Unlimited wine is provided until the cheese course (at which point you're encouraged to top up your glasses!). 4. 6 days of ski pass. As the coach arrives first thing in the morning, you can get your ski gear, eat a full breakfast and then get a whole day on the slopes. Likewise on the last day the coach leaves at 6pm so you get a whole day skiing then. As the hotel is right next to the slopes you've just got to climb a few short steps and you're next to the main lift, big plus! 5. Ski gear (skis, boots, poles, helmet). These were collected from inside the hotel and were well maintained (we were on the bronze package and they were fine). 6. Tea/coffee/cakes in the afternoon. This is a very pleasant way to finish your skiing day. Obviously it's not all inclusive but as you can see, you do get a lot for your money. The only things we spent extra on were extra drinks outside of meal times, and lunch. For lunch I'd either recommend the Italian cafe called "Ski Food" - almost opposite the hotel, or skiing over to Valloire where you'll get a much better selection at better prices than Valmeinier. Google maps reviews haven't let us down when it comes to finding places to eat. A word of warning, just avoid the restaurants immediately adjacent to the lifts at Valmeinier 1800 as they're extremely pricey for the area. The Galibier-Thabor (Valmeinier) ski area is a good size with a wide variety of runs. We went during the week where the news was saying all the ski resorts were closed due to warm weather, but as this resort is so high the majority of the runs were open. Don't expect anything like the size of 3 valleys but it's enough to fill a week. There are 3 mountains across the ski area, with lifts/runs between them: 1. Gros Crey, this is the mountain the hotel is on. Personally we found this mountain far too busy and the runs too narrow. Also later in the afternoon any powder seems to form massive clumps which makes skiing quite unpleasant. If you want to do any pistes here do them first thing in the morning. 2. Crey Du Quart, this was our favourite mountain. The pistes here are all very high up so you get great powder, it's less busy and a lot wider so you get plenty of space. There are loads of pistes for all abilities along the length of the "Brive 2" lift. The added benefit of this mountain is you can then either ski or catch the gondola down into Valloire for lunch. 3. Setaz, this was probably the quietest mountain. Plenty of pistes but we found the blues a bit icy here, maybe that was just the week we went where there wasn't much snow. Overall we had a great time, the staff have been a real credit to the business and were very helpful. I will certainly look at Snowcoach again for my future ski holidays.

Just returned (17/4/22) after full week, last week of season. Plenty of snow and most runs still open. Lovely sunshine all week except first day, so soft snow in afternoons. This was our 19th season with Snowcoach so that speaks volumes. L'Aigle is situated in fantastic location, 100metres or less from the lift so door to door skiing. The hotel has it's own boots/skis for hire if needed, and you can pre book lift passes with them, so all you need to do is turn up and you can head off out skiing. From Valmeinier you can ski accross to Valloire, fantastic skiing area. Skiing with Snowcoach is a social experience and a great way to meet other skiers. Meals are taken on tables of about ten so always chatting to different people if you wish. If of a reasonable standard you can also ski within a group. The staff were brilliant. It is not an expensive luxury holiday but fantastic value for money. Rooms are basic but clean and tidy, ours was lovely with great views of the mountains, but some in need of a little tlc. Tea and cakes available every day 4pm - 5pm, plenty to eat at breakfast, and really nice 4 course meals during our stay. Cheese board very small for a couple of nights but soon back to normal. Main course one night was best duck I've eaten. (Well done Drew). Complimentary wine is provided during the first three courses. Outdoor hot tub overlooking mountain, lovely. We travelled on their coach, long journey but coaches and drivers are good so worth the time. You can make you own way or book a flight yourself. We travelled at the hight of the P&O problems so feared delays at the ports. Snowcoach had swopped bookings to Irish Ferries and thankfully there were no delays on either journey. Can't wait till next year.

Just returned from a fabulous week’s skiing with Snowcoach in Valmeinier. We had a glorious run of eight full day’s blue sky skiing with a mixed ability group. The accommodation is quite basic but warm and clean, the meals were decent and plentiful. The club hotel promotes integration amongst guests and staff, which was brilliant. The staff were consistently great but a special shout out to Neil, along with Jack and Drew for their great humour and excellent ski guide touring, expertly picking the best slopes and encouragement to push the envelope a little, which helped make a fantastic week. Top marks fellas. Three of our party used ESF for private lessons and all gave rave reviews, which is not always the case, but this was consistent with the friendly welcome at this traditional French resort. Snowcoach were exceptionally easy to deal with and dealt brilliantly with the unexpected P&O situation, they provide a great value for money service and experience. Well done guys, we will be back!

Just back from our fourth visit. A great budget hotel. Rooms are clean and warm. Breakfast is serve yourself (as much as you want). 4pm tea/coffee and freshly made cakes and then a 4 course evening meal with free wine which will fill you up. The staff are mainly students and this years team were definitely the best we have had although we have not had a bad group. Hotel is 50 yards from the lifts which is another great plus. Will be back for our 5th time I'm sure. Thomson's and Steadman's

Snowcoach Trip to Valmeiner. I went with friends 29 Feb - 8th March 2020 I had a triple room to myself paying Single Supplement. 2 days extra skiing. I travelled with Snowcoach. No problems with the journey. A couple of delays which can't be helped. A comfortable trip. I arrived at 9am at L'Aigle hotel, where I was met by the staff. They were there Immediately sorting out boot hire and Ski Hire. Both located within the Hotel. All very easy and smoothly run. The rooms are not readily available on arrival, so you have to change in a designated room into your ski wear. Breakfast immediately after fitting then straight away on the slopes. Great Service. The room was a decent size. I had a double and single bed in my room. Its not fancy. It looks tired. But it had everything I needed. There are no plugs for the bath or sink. However, anything I needed, reception were very good at providing straight away. (Don't wait until the end of the holiday if you have an issue. The staff are always to hand). The reception area is on the fourth floor. It is a nice spacious area. Some nice cosy chairs, fire, and a decent bar. I did have issues with the smoke from the fire. It got quite smokey at times. The dining area, again, very spacious with large communal tables. The boot and Ski room is on the third floor. A locker is provided for your kit. No issues there. The Hot Tub is a must. I recommend you visit this as often as possible. Very warm and a great way to meet people. (Take a bottle of wine or beer with you!!) Food: The food was like being at home. Home cooked food, starter, main course, pudding and cheese. Its not top quality and can be over seasoned. Be prepared for lots of Carbs and not much Veg. It was still very good and it did the job. And plentiful. I loved the fact that a staff member sits at the top of the table and serves. A nice touch. Staff: The staff are great. Very friendly. Always about, always ready to help and will try and get anything you need. Very nice people. Some evenings the staff will do a Quiz night or Party games. One evening, they organised bowling. I have no complaints about the Staff. The resort. For me. (A very average skier, who can get down a slope in whatever way possible) This resort was great. It had plenty of Green, blue and red runs for my standard, Some amazing views. The scenery is Stunning in comparison to VT or Tignes which is very much open. The nearest chair lift is up a couple of flights of stairs across from the hotel. Getting over to Valloire and back is easy. Again, some great skiing in Valloire. One of the things that the hotel Can't control, but I think I should mention, is the snow ploughs are on the roads at about 6am, BEEP,BEEP,BEEP for a couple of hours. So be prepared. Overall: One of the best Ski holidays I have been on. The hotel is run smoothly, transfers are easy, food is adequate, and the hotel is just the ticket. I met some great people and had some right laughs. I shall hopefully go again next year. Thanks Snowcoach
