Our first jaunt to the south of the island, previously having stayed in Corralejo, we were pleasantly surprised that our gamble to take a longer transfer had paid off. We arrived after the end of evening service in the restaurant and a cold plate had been prepared for us which was a nice touch.

The hotel sits between Morro Jable which has a more traditional feel, and Jandia, a typical holiday resort, both are easily accessible via the promenade that runs adjacent to the grounds. There is a big Spar supermarket 5 minutes away which we got all our essentials from. Majority of the guests are German which did not pose a problem for us.

The property was very clean, good measures in place with regards to covid, particularly impressed with all the staff in the restaurant who were quick to challenge anyone who left their table without wearing a mask.

We booked a standard room, which was spacious, although beginning to look a little tired around the edges and had a lovely sea view. The best hairdryer I have ever encountered in a hotel room, basic toiletries (no cotton wool), towels were not the best - slightly threadbare and not particularly big. Bathrobes are provided. Kettle in room with tea and coffee but if you want a proper brew you might want to take your preferred brand with you.

Food was average, good selection at breakfast and a fair choice in the evening. Underwhelmed on Christmas Day, no gala meal or any type of celebration, turkey was served in the preceding days, not on the 25th. Price of drinks a little expensive compared to other hotels we stayed in, but credit where it is due, the first hotel in the canaries that we have stayed in to get our bar bill correct at the end of our stay!

We chose this hotel on the back of a stay in another TUI Blue hotel, if I’m honest it wasn’t as good, that said, for a quiet week it ticked most of our boxes. If we were to return to Fuertentura I would definitely consider returning here.

The hotel is in a great location, overlooking the beach and all rooms have fabulous sea views as a result. It is very close to the old town area and harbour and just a 15 minute walk in the other direction takes you to the more modern town centre with lots of shops etc. The rooms have the biggest balconies I think I’ve ever had, space for two sun loungers plus a separate area for chairs and table. All the staff we encountered delivered excellent customer service, they were all so friendly, helpful and fun. On arrival we were offered a glass of fizz, despite our late arrival. Also, a plate of food had been kept aside for us as we arrived too late for the food service in the restaurant. The food in the main dining room was very good, with ample choices of meat, fish and vegetarian options each evening, breakfast was also good with plenty of choice, the pool area was very nice and like everywhere else was kept spotless. There were sufficient sun beds, although as in most places many of the prime locations were bagged very early in the morning. We especially liked the chill out terrace which had a jacuzzi and about 8 Balinese type sun beds with canopies., along with other sun loungers and some tables and chairs. The a la carte restaurant was a great experience, the food was delicious and the service was brilliant, Jesus was great fun! I would highly recommend this place.

This a good well run hotel. It has a excellent front line position overlooking a fabulous beach. The food is good and the hotel is clean with sensible covid rules. Every room has a large balcony with two sunbeds. The rooms are large with safes and fridges that are free contrary to the Tui website which states there is a local charge.

The guests are nearly all Germans, so if you hope to meet and chat with other guests at this hotel it will not likely happen. Unfortunately there were a number of guests who were scruffy, ill mannered and did not comply with some of they covid rules in the hotel. An example being the rule for elevators was that only two people could be in the elevator. They would try and get in and were not happy when they were refused. I saw the lift door open regularly with 6-8 people coming out.

However we did not let some selfish, ill mannered individuals spoil our holiday. Overall we had a good stay at this hotel.

Spent two weeks at the RIU Calypso at the beginning of March 2022. Our first stay at this hotel, though we stayed in Jandia nearly 20 years ago,

Staff: very friendly, hard working and helpful. Also, they all seemed more than happy to engage with people in Spanish, German or English.

Location: right next to a fabulous, long, sandy beach and a good coastal path to Morro Jable and Jandia. No public sun beds in front of hotel while we were there, but plenty about 10 mins walk down beach. €13.50 for two sun beds and one brolly. Don’t know if this changes at other times of year.

Room: the hotel is spread over floors 0 to 12. Reception, the piano bar and small retail outlet (clothes mainly) are located on floor 3. The pool, pool bar, restaurant, main entertainment lounge and access to the beach are on floor 0. There is a treatment room/gym and sun loungers on floor 2 ( we didn’t use these). We asked for a room on a high floor, and got one on floor 12. Great views, but see comments below. The room was always kept clean and had a great balcony with sun loungers.

Food: we were happy enough with the choice, quality and presentation of food at breakfast and evening meal. There was no prebooking of seats, it was just turn up and find a table. Staff were quick to stop people who tried to wander around the restaurant without a face mask. We had a couple of light lunches in the pool bar, and these were fine.

Overall we had a great two weeks and would go back to this hotel.

Slight minor niggles, which we didn’t raise while there as neither affected our holiday.

We asked for a quiet room on a high floor. We got a room on floor twelve. However, access to the room was via an outside walkway, which overlooked the main road into Morro Jable. There was quite a bit of traffic on this road, so there was some road noise in the room, day and night. Due to the shape of the hotel there seemed to be a number of rooms, on various floors, which are next to the road. Most rooms seemed to be accessed from internal corridors, so don’t have the road next to them.

The two main lifts in the hotel are of a funicular style on the outside of the building. We found that we spent quite a lot of time waiting for lifts, which are also used by staff, or walking up and down the stairs. Also, one of the lifts didn’t go up to floor twelve. Fortunately we are fit enough to cope with the stairs, but if you aren’t expect to hang around waiting for the lifts or request a room on a lower floor. You might not get the views though. In our view the lifts are inadequate for the number of rooms and the layout of the hotel.

A return visit to the Calypso which has arguably the best location in Morro Jable. Most rooms face the sea but would recommend upgrading to a sea view just to make sure of this. Rooms are large and have sunbeds on the balconies although there are always plenty around the pool or the spa area. The prime position sunbeds around the pool always have towels on them from 7am despite the hotel saying no reserving of beds. Would help if this was enforced and towels removed until 9am when it officially opens! Staff are always pleasant and the hotel is spotless. This is a predominantly German hotel, most of which are past retirement age so dont come expecting a lively time which suits us. Food is fine, cooked fresh but again caters mainly for the Germans. Main positive is the location, a minutes walk to the bars and restaurants of Morro Jable to the right and a 5 minute walk along the coastal path to shops and more restaurants. Beach is spotless and goes on for miles, plenty of naturists as well here. It's a long coach ride to the hotel, mainly due to other drop offs but well worth putting up with this. Yes, the hotel is tired in places and could do with a fresh lick of paint but none of that matters once you open your balcony door and just look at the view.

After 4 years of visiting this beautiful island I decided having stayed at Rui palace Tres Islas in Corralejo to try a different part of the island. Tui blue Calypso in Jandia was recommended to me and I was happy to try as it was the same star rating as Tres islas. On arrival which was around 9.30 pm firstly no welcome drink was offered and no porters were available to a) help me with my luggage b) to show me how things worked in my room ie: Aircon etc. I found this quite unusual.
I was booked into this adult only hotel on half board and expected great things, sadly the food did not live up to my expectations and I actually eat out 3 nights out of the 7 that I was booked for, the choice was there but I found everything quite tasteless.
My room was great and as previous people have mentioned the balcony was huge and the bed was probably one of the most comfortable I have ever slept in. I had a lovely massage at the hotel which was well worth the 65euro. Sadly the service was pretty poor in all other aspects of this hotel, I chose to relax in the "chill out zone" near the gym (2nd floor) lovely and relaxing however on one rare occasion that a member of staff came up to see if any guests wished to order drinks they got my order wrong and I had to wait over an hour for the correct drink to arrive, actually it would have been quicker to walk to the supermarket. The resort itself was quite nice Tapas bars and shops within easy walk from hotel. I have tried to be frank and honest as I am with all my reviews and my score would have been higher if the service and food had been better.
Leaving on a plus note the beach in this side of the island was paradise.

Just got back from a 7 day stay at this lovely adults only hotel. It was our first visit to Fuerteventura but it definitely won't be our last. The hotel is located perfectly for access to an amazing beach and a few bars and restaurants in Morro Jable. You can walk further along a promenade to Jandia which is a bit busier.
The hotel is well laid out with rooms surrounding the pool area and most with sea views. We had a standard room but were lucky to still have a side sea view. If you can pay the extra, I would recommend a full sea view because it is spectacular. The rooms themselves are spacious, clean and comfortable. One tiny criticism would be the rather noisy air conditioning, but that may just have been our room. The food is buffet style, with plenty of choice and some of it freshly cooked for you, eg fish, steak, but also some lovely local dishes. The staff are really very friendly but not intrusive. They always had a smile and a welcome.
We highly recommend this hotel and are looking forward to visiting again. Thank you to all the hard working staff.

When we arrived we had a friendly welcome and a complimentary drink. The room was really spacious including the bathroom and especially the balcony which was the biggest we’ve had in any hotel. Everything was clean and the bed was really comfortable so always had a good night’s sleep after a hard day on the beach! The layout of the hotel is really unusual being built on a hillside with the novelty of funicular lifts. However these lifts were very slow so we mostly chose to walk as we were only on the 4th floor ( of 12). We were impressed with the food, a good variety on the buffet and some freshly cooked to order. A special mention for Irbana who was friendly and helpful at breakfast. It was fairly easy to get a sunbed when we stayed with towels provided daily, although we mostly based ourselves on the beach. The beach is very close by although there are no sun beds immediately in front of the hotel, we had to walk along the beach for 10 minutes where there were sun beds for hire. There was availability and they are well spaced out so you are not too close to anyone. The beach is really spacious and stretches for miles, the sand is soft and white and the sea is clear. It was just about warm enough to swim when we were there in late March. The beach is definitely the highlight of the area. Overall a very enjoyable stay at the Riu Calypso.

We booked with Tui and we’re really looking forward to the Sea view balcony room which we paid an extra £340 for 2 weeks. We were given room 1025 on the 10th floor, however this balcony had a huge wall to one side therefore in January the sun didn’t get onto this balcony before 12.30pm and moving wasn’t an option as the Receptionist said they were fully booked but we were offered a room on the 2nd floor shaded by palm trees, maybe a bonus in summer but unfortunately not in January. The room was large with a sofa and TV in the lounge part, no English channels. The bathroom shower tiles could have done with being re-grouted and no complimentary toiletries. The hotel is in a fabulous location steps from the beach and sea, if you love these it’s perfect. We were on half board, breakfast plenty of choices, evening meal varied, the meat sometimes hit and miss but everything else ok. There’s a large Spa across the road, handy for all your necessities. Would we go back, yes for the location but I’d just book a balcony room and not pay the extra to Tui and then ask at check in to upgrade.

My spouse and I stayed at the Calpyso for 1 week in early September. We both really enjoyed our stay.

We arrived on my spouses birthday. They kindly left us a gift of a bottle white sparkling wine, which made us feel very welcome.

There is not a great deal to do in Morro Jabel, after 2 days we spent the rest of the time lounging and sipping Mojitos on the 4 poster rattan beds and in the jaccusi on the rooftop terrace.

The hotel guests are mostly German, and Morro Jabel appeals to them, as their former Chancellor, Willy Brandt popularised it as a holiday destination. Note, there are many German nudists on the beach.

Due to the shape of the hotel, there are two funiculars to access most rooms, which is a pleasant novelty.

The room sizes are excellent, the belconies are spacious too, with great views of the beach and sea.

The food is wonderful. We had caviar, smoked salmon, steaks cooked to perfection and many other great items. To those saying negatives about the food: If you want to eat congealed baked beans, hash browns and brown sauce, why not stay in the UK?

My only negatives for the hotel are the cleaning and the furnishings. I spotted some cobwebs and leaves scattered within corridors to the bedrooms. The furnishings are slightly dated and worn. Perhaps it is time to replace furniture, carpets and decor.

These negatives are only slight and did not impact on the holiday very much. The hotel is a great place for a relaxing week away, but due to the lack of activities in Morro Jabel, not much more. We really enjoyed the week.

Just kettles. They provide coffee each day. We bought our own milk from the Spar and kept it in the fridge provided. Take the shortcut through the Spar car park and go down one floor in the lift to get you the Spar
