Very warm and inviting. The hostess is a hoot! Enjoyed her company and knowledge. The food was fabulous!!! We loved eating at the round table with the other guest. Our Room with a View was the smallest but perfect for us. We would definitely stay again.

All was great here - a real taste of the real Texas. We took an exchange student from France and he got to see historic home, learn local history, visit Gruene, The host/owner Darryl helped us out so much by suggesting places to visit. A really lovely family owns this place and they are very kind. The breakfast food -... More

My daughter and I stayed for a long weekend, the owners were fantastic, very helpful and kind. We had friends staying at a cabin in an RV park and they would visit. The owners treated them also like family, they have two young girls and welcomed them to the comfort room for soft drinks and ice cream. The breakfasts were... More

We just stayed one night at the B&B. We were upgraded to a bigger suite for no up charge right when we arrived. The cottage had enough space for 6 people and it even had a jacuzzi tub! The breakfast was homemade, huge, and delicious! The service was incredible and the owners are so friendly! We will definitely be back!

What a wonderful time we had!! What makes this place so special is the owners and the wonderful breakfast and history of the grounds. We loved hearing the stories they told at breakfast. In today's fast paced world, this was a wonderful place to unwind and just get away for a few days!!

This had our 9 year-old talking about how much better better this was than a hotel. I have to admit, this place by far exceeded my expectations. The beds were so comfortable and the entire place was exceptionally clean. The innkeepers were VERY sweet and accommodating. We had amazing conversations with Ms. Waltrip and learned so much about the area.... More

This is a fantastic place for a conference or a getaway! The one room school house that has been converted into a meeting area and bedrooms is fantastic and quaint. This is a nice getaway in the Gruene area that provides something other than the tired old offerings that the main drag provides. You do not have to be subjected to the noise of the local bands, the foot traffic, the rowdy tourists . . . but you can be part of that action in about 10 minutes if you're... More

We spent 1 night in the Old School House and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. The highlight was definitely sitting on the wraparound porch with wine and nibbles watching dusk set in. The room itself is very spacious and clean. The only issue we had was that we could hear the upstairs guests throughout the night. I wonder if the rooms in... More

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Genuine Friendship, Great Food and Texas Hospitality can be found here. The Historic Kuebler Waldrip Haus Bed and Breakfast is a Texas bed and breakfast conveniently located on 43 peaceful acres just 4-6 minutes from Historic Gruene and New Braunfels, 30 minutes to San Antonio, and 45-60 min. to Austin. Enjoy a casual relaxed atmosphere with open spaces, trees, maybe some wildlife and our resident cats. Choose from one of our three beautifully restored buildings. The buildings include DEER HAVEN COTTAGE building (900 sq. Ft.), a cozy 3 bedroom cottage with tile floors, a shower/jacuzzi bath, living room, and kitchen, and sleeps 2-6 guests; the HISTORIC KUEBLER WALDRIP HAUS building (5000 sq. Ft.), an original 1847 German pioneer limestone and timber log home with 5 separate bedrooms each with a private bath; and the HISTORIC DANVILLE SCHOOLHOUSE building (2500 sq. Ft.), an original 1863 one-room Texas schoolhouse with 5 separate bedrooms and 5 private baths. The schoolhouse was named for Daniel Murchison, a Texas Ranger, and moved to our ranch from Solms in Comal County in 1990. It has been restored with the original hardwood floors, chalk board with stage, and it now has 5 separate bedrooms. All of our rooms can be rented separately, and are perfect for a couple, a family with children or a weekday or weekend getaway. Total facilities can sleep a minimum of 22 people up to 33 people. Children welcome from 0-100. HISTORY: The original property was listed under the Veramendi Spanish land grant in the 1800's. The property was owned by a French wine merchant, Francois Guilbeau as an investment, and the main house was built in 1847. It was then owned by Andreas and Katherine Pape of Hanover, Germany who built the main house in 1847. The second family was Willie and Olga Kraft and children, and they owned the property from 1900 until 1974. In 1974, Margy and Larry Waldrip and their three sons, Dibrell, Darrell and David bought and moved the property, and they have lovingly restored the Kuebler Waldrip Haus building to its present state. PRESS ARTICLES include the Houston Chronicle, Texas Monthly book Texas Bed and Breakfast by Ann Ruff, The Great Stays of Texas (HHAT), and "House Full of History" in the Texas Hill Country Magazine, (summer 2010). ... more   less
