Had a 2 night stay and overall it was good. There was plenty of space in the room and it was clean. The breakfast was above average and the room AC kept the room very cool. Room was quiet and couldn’t hear anything from adjoining rooms. Only complaint would be the water pressure in the shower. It was very light and made showering more difficult.

The hotel and rooms were clean and spacious. The complimentary breakfast could have been better, it was microwaveable foods. The lady working the cafeteria seemed to be having a bad day. Everyone else was friendly and helpful:)! We enjoyed a good nights sleep. Felt safe and wasn’t loud.

Went to our grandsons football game. The people in the room next to us were very loud but they took care of the situation. Breakfast was good. Staff was very nice . Room was clean and comfortable. Very nice place to stay.

Unfortunately we are here for 2+ weeks. It is filthy. The management and staff firmly believe in using COVID as an excuse not to have housekeeping services. Guests must carry their own dirty towels & bed linens, as well as trash, to the front desk, so “housekeepers are not exposed to germs”. Then the front desk gives you clean towels & sheets, so you can go back to your room to make your own beds. Front desk will also give you trashbags to replace the ones you emptied. The outdoor pool is closed also “out of an abundance of caution” although it’s 80+ degrees and many children are staying here, and the location is at the corner of 2 highways The hallways are filthy. I had to report a bag of trash in the stairwell after 2 days. Evidently, basic cleaning and vacuuming of the hallways and stairwells is too dangerous for housekeeping as well. With the exception of one, the front desk staff is rude, spending a large part of the day on their phones, away from the desk, or hanging out with friends. You cannot use the fitness center, receive water, or a towel unless you sign in a public binder with your name and room number. In Texas, flags are important and the surrounding hotels have them. This place, however, has 3 empty flagpoles. Not surprised though, as it’s more like Portland, Oregon here than Portland, Texas.

Response from Hotel Manager, General Manager at Home2 Suites by Hilton Portland
Responded 12 Apr 2021
We appreciate your time informing us of your stay at our hotel. On behalf of the staff, I would like to apologize for the inconveniences you have experienced during your stay. We view all our guests' comments as opportunities to improve our guests' services, and despite these unpresidented challenging times that we are facing, we will continue to do our very best with the limited staff and resources. Upon check in we have our welcome letter advising our guests' of the changes we have had to implement since the onset of the COVID Pandemic. Should a guest not feel comfortable with the changes at check in or should a guest after checking in experience discomfort with our changes, we certainly understand and abide with the guest decision to not remain in our hotel. We proudly have had our 3 flags, we had to replace them as they were showing such wear, however obtaining replacements, like many of our supplies, the wait time is quite extensive. Once again, thank you for your time and comments. On behalf of the entire staff and I, the patience and understanding of all our guests' past, present and future, is overwhelming appreciated as we continue on with the best of our abilities.

Most of our interactions with staff were terrible. The female staff serving breakfast was rude, impatient and unwelcoming. She kept taking her mask off behind the breakfast counter and seemed very bothered with doing her job. We were rushed out of our room 10 minutes before checkout. We told the cleaning staff we knew checkout was at 12pm and were grabbing our things in order to be out in a few minutes, yet they insisted on reminding us of the time. A male staff member (perhaps maintenance) was by the front desk without a mask on several occasions. Additionally, the pre-packaged breakfast was overcooked and tasted terrible. Luckily, there was packaged oatmeal and cereal to eat instead. The only other positives: check-in was pleasant, the morning front desk person was helpful, and the room was clean. Unfortunately, these things were not enough to make up for the other experiences. As guests, we want to feel welcome and appreciated for our business, not like we are a nuisance and a bother to the staff. And during covid, we want to feel safe during our stay, not afraid that we're taking a risk with our health and safety.

My family and I stayed here 2 nights for a baseball tournament. Lack of housekeeping is VERY apparent. We requested to switch rooms because the 1st one was filthy and AC wasn’t blowing cool air. The 2nd room was also gross. You could tell it was cleaned with the bare minimum in mind. No fresh toilet paper rolls, greasy tile floors, no toiletries, dusty and moldy looking space under the AC unit by window. The bathroom sliding door had paint chipping off, bathroom sliding door track was broken and rusted over. Wallpaper peeling off of the walls. Bedside lamp sconces loose and hanging off walls. Baseboard paint chipped and worn extensively. 2 large gel air fresheners visibly placed in top of shelves to make it smell fresh. Lastly, I guess they are painting the outside of the building because all windows of the hotel were covered with plastic. Hotel lobby looks clean but don’t let that deceive you. We will never stay again and take our business elsewhere. Instead of Home to Suites, it should be called Home to Hell literally.

I am extremely disappointed with my recent stay at Home2 Suites hotel.

The breakfast was a complete joke. You can get a better selection of food from a convenient store. The absolute worst display I've ever encountered in a hotel. The food is prepackaged which makes the breakfast sandwiches soggy. The only fresh thing you can get is if you cook yourself a waffle. I was forced to purchase my breakfast from a restaurant each day of my stay. The facility provides no real hospitality.

My room smelled like wet musty/mildewed socks, the vanity light did not work (no one ever came to try to fix it), there was no body soap in the dispenser for showering, the remote to the TV in the living area did not work.

I ended up not even staying the last night (though I was charged for it) because I couldn't take the smell of the room anymore and the way the air conditioner made my skin feel wet and dewy which interrupted my sleep.

Due to these issues I will never stay at this hotel again and would not recommend it to anyone.

So I like to say something positive when I have something negative to say. So let me say that the employees here are fantastic and do their best to deal with a bad situation. Now for the bad, I checked in and was given a room that nearly knocked me over from the smell of mold. Ya know when you leave a wet rag on your kitchen sink for too long? Now, take that rag and hold it over your nose and mouth. So I went and asked for another room and after touring 5 other rooms on two floors, we finally found a room that was manageable. I moved my bags up and after shutting the door, the tile baseboard fell off the wall. There are holes in the wall, mold around the shower, the AC has to run constantly to keep up and there I no way to ventilate the room. Breakfast is limited to cereal, bagels, yogurt and some plastic wrapped sausage croissants. No housekeeping with an excuse posted on the wall saying "For your comfort, we want your stay to be as undisturbed as possible, so we will only provide housekeeping upon your request". The room seemed clean till I looked further. Unidentifiable stains on the couch and chairs are typical. Really don't want to do the mental math here...
I really don't know why Trip Advisor is still giving this good marks.

After checking in and being in our room for about 1/2, we could not adjust the temperature. It was 64 degrees. We called the front desk and after a while, a young man - the only employee available - brought a new thermostat. None of us could get it to work so we changed rooms. The second room smelled and was dirty so we went to a third room. No one, including, the employee, could get the AC to turn off or adjust. It was 62 degrees in the room. So, we went to a fourth room....there was feces in the toilet and hair in the fridge. So, went to a fifth room where he brought us cleaning supplies and a vacuum cleaner as there were crumbs and hair around the sink and toilet. He said he would not clean because it was not his job and he had other work to do. We cancelled our 5 day stay left. It was horrible experience. Never again.

The room was just OK. It was clean, but the whole hotel had a dated feel. We were on the 4th floor and the hallway had an odd smell to it that hit you as soon as you got off elevator. Hotel was still doing "COVID style" breakfast which was disappointing. We stayed in 2 other hotels on our trip that had a full hot breakfast and dining areas open. During our stay at Home 2 Suites we had to eat out every morning adding an extra expense we didn't plan for. Pool was closed - sign said until August. I felt I got a lot more for my money at my other stays than I did at Home 2 Suites...H2S was also the most expensive hotel we stayed at.
