I was a bit leery about booking a week here because the reviews that I saw on-line were not very good. I booked it anyway because I had to visit relatives in the area, so why not stay at the beach resort. Our room (26/27) on the second floor was actually quite nice. It is one of the remodeled rooms with updated cabinets, new bedroom drawers and fresh paint on the walls. The view is great! It has a view of the pool, tennis courts and the ocean waves. This unit has a spacious living room area with a balcony and a nice large master bedroom with double sinks outside of the bathroom area. The shower is tiled nicely. The second bedroom has two queen beds and a bathroom. The guest bedroom also has a small balcony, good enough for standing, but not large enough for chairs. The kitchen is fully equipped and there is a washer and dryer in the unit. The problem with this resort is that the employees are not real customer service oriented. They do not issue you even an extra roll of toilet paper or dishwasher soap. Also, this is the only place where I was told their computers were not working on two separate days when I asked to print out my airline boarding pass. This is generally a courtesy offered at all hotels and timeshares. There are no amenities or activities at this resort. We did not have a parking problem because we were there on the off season, but with only 1 parking space for a 2 bedroom unit, I can see why some people complain about this. We enjoyed our stay here because we are self sufficient and did not need amenities, even though it would have been nice to have some type of group activities.
The resort and staff were great, but you could see that it was an older resort and needed some work, mainly paint and repairs to building. The beach and local area were great. The local people were nice, friendly and helpful. The zoo in Brownsville was really good. We also enjoyed the Green Turtle exhibit. The weather was great (70's and 80's).
Not a friendly fun resort. Staff acted like they were bothered by you. They are not accomodating to someone who is handicapped and on a walker. There are no eating accomodations on so you have to drive someplace and worry about parking when you get back..
The resort was outdated very dirty as you were going up to your room. Once we open the door to our room we could smell the odor. It was like sewer smell. I immediately had maintenance come up and they sprayed some solution which made it worse. My husband went out to buy candles so we can put in each room which helped a little bit. We had to put up with the smell every day till we left. We arrived Tuesday and left Saturday. We will never go back to this resort.
The bathroom in our unit was in awful condition and is in dire need of a renovation. The grout in the tile floor was crumbling and we could see the concrete flooring underneath. Mold was growing in those gaps. There was water damage to the bathroom cabinetry, and as a result decaying holes had formed. At one point the shower had been redone, which was fine. I don't understand why they didn't redo the entire bathroom. Otherwise, our unit was OK. The resort grounds were especially nice. Too bad the interiors aren't kept up in the same manner.

When something like this occurs you will be assigned a room at random just like the normal owners would be. You can request a certain room (ground floor) if you wish, but based on availability you might not get it. They just underwent a big renovation on the rooms and are great for the money. Also a very close walk to the private beach.
Hope this helps!
