Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

OK the interior is a bit dated, sort of a old motel feel but the rooms are very clean, there is a fridge, tea and coffee maker, good AC or heater and ample parking. But the view is better than the hotel up the road. This is the real MV, and Gouldings is steeped in history, so much so it has a museum on site. If you want to stay in MV then Gouldings is the place to go. Decent grocery store nearby, petrol too and a restaurant on site. We ate there once for dinner and despite bing very busy we had a nice meal and got good service. Only gripe was the light pollution from the nearby garage at night, but that is a minor niggle after a great 3 night stay.

Great location very close to monument valley and wonderful views from our room. However, the hotel very dated and room not that clean. Restaurant was not great food and staff bordered on rude. We watched a film in their cinema which was fun. Place needs refurbishing. Would I stay again, possibly just due to location and proximity to Monument Valley.

The one positive about this location are the stunning views of Monument Valley. We stayed in one of the villas, which clearly had not been cleaned very well. There was macaroni all over the floor (guessing someone spilled a box of it at some point). The restaurant was edible but not great and VERY pricey. All of the staff we encountered, check in, shop, restaurant, were underwhelming. Not rude but definitely not happy to be working. Where it goes completely downhill for me is I left my Apple air pods in the room, unfortunately. I had to call 4 times over 3 days to get someone to go look for me. I used Find MY on my iPhone and it clearly shows they are there. I FINALLY get someone to call me back only to tell me they were not found. It’s 4 days after I left and the tracker shows it’s still in the room.

I want to give them a higher rating, but stray dogs wandering through campground was sad. Bathrooms clean, but make sure you get bathroom keycard at check in or you will get locked out. Fires allowed. ***But not all sites have fire rings. Friendly staff. Stray dogs fought at night when we were in our tent:(

Room Tip: It’s fine for a couple, but I wouldn’t want kids around the stray dogs.

My daughter and enjoyed this park so much. It was peaceful and clean. The best part was the property, we took a hike and I will post the photos. It was so quiet. It is pet friendly. It also has bathrooms that are key card access only, showers and an indoor pool that was very refreshing. Full RV hook up for a great price.

This was my second option from the only hotel inside Monument Valley. It’s not that far and still offered decent view of the buttes. I did book a cabin for this stay. The lodge was very clean and equipped with a kitchen so we were able to cook breakfast and ate what we wanted. The location had its own gas station and a grocery store. Makes it very convenient. Just be aware that the grocery store closes at 8pm. By the lodge lobby, there’s a restaurant but I wouldn’t eat there again. It’s best to cook your own food if you choose the cabin. From this location, you do have to drive to Monument Valley which is not far at all. Overall, I’m glad I chose to stay here.

Wow! We had one of the detached villas overlooking the desert. Absolutely stunning views. Villa was clean, comfortable, well equipped and quiet. Gouldings Lodge restaurant and supermarket an enjoyable walk or short drive away. Recommended.

Rooms a little dated but very clean and comfortable, view was absolutely stunning and fantastic value for money. Super pleased with this short stay (1 night) it was safe, quiet and clean. Perfect for a short stay. Only other small catch is the pool is a lot smaller in person than they appear in the pictures online. Make sure you head up to the Gouldings Arch trail from the campground too, stunning views everywhere you go here!!

Beautiful cliff side location! All buildings are built against the cliffs with stunning effect. Nothing fancy, to be sure, but clean and serviceable. It has a 1940s historic vibe to it, and one can imagine movie stars of the day wandering thru the buildings! Good value!
