Part of the vast Equinox resort, the 1811 house consists of a main building and an adjacent (across a driveway) cottage with 3 additional guest rooms. We stayed in the garret (upstairs) in the cottage. For a princely sum, you will enjoy a comfortable King-size bed, 2 comfortable chairs, a large TV and a roomy bathroom, but scarcely enough light... I'll start this off by saying that my wife and I did not get to spend the night at the 1811 house, only a few hours. This is truly a beautiful private home feel with a lot of history that can clearly be felt the minute you walk in. It has everything you'd expect and hope from an antique Vermont... More

We went for 2 days. Booked thru Living Social. Positives: the staff was very friendly, attentive. The room we had was in the 1811 cottage. It was large and spacious. It's very "rustic" which was nice. The only down side to the room was the front door going into the building needs to be fixed because it does not really... More

If you're going to the Equinox and only booking a room or two, true, the lodge is the better choice. The 1811 House isn't creepy -- but sure any building that you're unfamiliar with will seem weird if you're there alone. The fact is the 1811 House is an awesome historic home that is part of the resort. It's very... More

I booked a special night away at the Equinox and, after seeing pictures online, decided on a room at the 1811 House- part of the Inns at the Equinox. On check in we discovered that the 1811 House is extremely rustic- low ceilings, very shabby furnishings, and quiet to the point of creepy. From photos I expected quaintness and antiques,... More

We were expecting an older historic home, but we were not expecting cold showers, a shower head that felt like it came off a power washer, only hot water in the sink, old mattress with no support, and no staff in the house to provide assistance or answer questions. Bringing these things to the attention of the registration desk upon... More

I traveled to the Cottage with my elderly mom, who is disabled. This accommodation is not for someone in that situation. I purchased this stay via Groupon and was not aware I was buying something less than what the Equinox had previously demonstrated to me in the way of luxurious accommodations. The Manager who wrote me back when I voiced... More

Just completed a stay at the 1811 House in Manchester, VT w/ two other coules- We stayed in the cottage, so we had the whole building, as it has three rooms- This building was very old (creaky floors, antique furnishings, etc.) but very quaint- It was perfect for three couples of the same family- Each had a very nice (clean... “Alone - lodge. Group of four or more rooms and you love history and privacy -- 1811 House all the way.”

“The Cottage is not accessible, and the internet was flaky. Stay in the Main hotel, (which I have before) --it's gorgeous and there is a handicap ramp at the rear of the hotel. Although having said that, in light of my response from the Hotel's management, I will not be traveling there again.”
