Old hotel, so expect old fixtures (sinks, windows) but the beds were very comfortable and the hot water for the showers was great! We had two rooms sharing a common bathroom, but neither bathroom door would close completely because the old doors had warped and they no longer lined up with the door frames. For our family, it was fine...

Hi Amy--I loved reading your review! Unvarnished, but very positive, and you clearly "get" The Hotel Coolidge! Glad too that our staff received high marks--everyone works very hard to ensure the comfort of our guests. And I'll alert the maintenance crew to the door situation you mentioned--thanks for bringing it to my attention. We look forward to seeing you this...

I hadn't been to the Coolidge in about 15 years, and was happy to see that it hadn't changed much. If what you want is old and charming at a reasonable rate, this is it. If it will bother you that parts of the hotel are, in fact, old, then don't bother. I love the place, and the staff is...

HI IsisM--thanks so much for your review. I agree completely, our history and character are the things that truly set us apart. That, along with our outstanding staff, and the wide range of local attractions, make The Hotel Coolidge a memorable experience. Hope to see you before another 15 years has passed!

I sincerely do not know how The Coolidge has received high ratings. It is an antique for sure and I have an attachment to this place as I spent a lot of time there as a child. We stayed over this past weekend and boy- it was disappointing. It's really rundown and the halls look like something out of the...

HIi, Liz! I'm so sorry that the boiler system woke up your kids! It does make noise, for sure, and I can see how little kids might be startled by it, although quite honestly, I haven't heard that from other parents with kids staying here--and we typically have families here most nights of the week, especially in the winter when...

I came into town to finish research on one book in the Dartmouth library and find a quiet room where I could start my new one. The Hotel Coolidge helped me accomplish both at an affordable rate (as opposed to Hanover prices). If you're looking for a pool, gym or spa, this isn't the property for you. The hotel is...

Hi, Maine Traveler, Thanks so much for a truly wonderful review! I loved it because you clearly "get" us! We are absolutely not a cookie-cutter hotel, we are truly an experience in real New England hospitality, and in a beautiful building which is listed in the National Register of Historic Places. I will take issue with one thing, however--we have...

After reading some less than favorable reviews, I wasn't sure about staying at Hotel Coolidge, but I am SO glad that we went! My 3 kids and I aren't into "fancy," but we love friendly, unique, historical, and clean. We also love trains. Hotel Coolidge was PERFECT for us! The clerk I spoke to assured me that the staff is...

Hi Nancy, Thank you, thank you, thank you! I feel like all the staff should stand up and take a bow! I'm so glad that you enjoyed our hotel the way that the rest of us do. It is truly a unique experience, and so much fun to have travelers here who take such an active interest in the history...

The Hotel lobby is pleasant and old world-like. There was a roaring fire in the wood burning fireplace and comfortable chairs nearby. Great location in the center of White River Junction. Room was petite, but sufficient. Sound carries such that I could not only hear normal conversations in the room next door, but those on the street below as well....

Thanks so much for your review. We do love to have a nice big fire on a winter's night--there's nothing like it for providing comfort. I apologize if you found our early check out procedure to be tedious. I'll take a look at that process to see how it can be streamlined. And it sounds like the cafe next door...

A beautiful old hotel from another time - right at home in Vermont! Rooms are clean and very comfortable, my jr. suite had a large bathroom with a bathtub and a separate sitting room with a sink, couch, and desk. The location means shops and restaurants are walkable within a few blocks. The staff are also very friendly. It's hard...

The Hotel Coolidge is an establishment that will take you back to another era or remind you of a favorite 1940's black and white film. Check your motel/hotel experiences of the 21st century at the door and prepare for a well-priced place to stay that will evoke images of another era. If you are looking for sleek and modern, stay...

Hi there-- I loved reading your review! I have often thought that Damon Runyon would have loved it here, with all of the charm that our historic building has to offer. Happily, modern-day travelers, needing amenities such as wifi, great local restaurants, and other attractions within easy walking distance, are equally at home here. We look forward to your next...

This is an old hotel but is clean and has the traditional creaky floors. Breakfast is available next door and probably at other restaurants nearby but did not explore. Less expensive than hotels by the state highways.

We stayed here over Homecoming weekend at Dartmouth because we didn't want to pay the extortionist rates in Hanover and its environs. Even the chains jack up their rates to preposterous levels to take advantage of popular weekends. Although this hotel is no frills and a bit creaky, it was very adequate for our needs. We were on the top...

Hi there--I'm so glad that you highlighted the economical rates you found here. We work hard to be competitive, to encourage guests to stay here and experience a truly wonderful hotel experience, at a historic railroad-era building. We look forward to seeing you again!
