We stay here often when visiting. Rooms are immaculate and the staff is great. Would love to give 5 stars but their breakfast is ho hum. Stale pastries, microwaved eggs, and water downed juice. Their coffee is good though.

Clean hotel, the main entrance is an old house, built in 1827, so not your standard Hampton or other hotel. The rooms are modern with good security measures, some (mine was) have outside doors so you do not have to truck through the entire hotel to find your room, more of the older motel fashion.

Different type of Hampton Inn. Front of hotel is beautifully restored. The additions are interesting but cumbersome. For example, in order to get to our room we had to drive around back in a remote location of hotel. In order to get to lobby and eating area one has to walk outside. No access from inside. And it was 6...

This is the second time my wife and I have stayed at this Hampton Inn so that in and of itself speaks to the facility. We enjoy the historic feel of the property and the quiet setting as this is the half-way point of our trip down route 81 into South Carolina. While there is nothing really I can point...

Historic site, special experience. The breakfast served in the room was a very special touch and was excellent! Clean, quiet, comfortable. The premium rate for staying in the main building was excessive and unnecessary.

We checked in almost around 12 in the night. Stay was comfortable. Morning breakfast i felt is same across all the Hampton Inn. Definitely has the historic look from outside. Liked the morning staff at breakfast. Very cordial

It is an unusual Hampton Inn. For the "historic" feel of the main house you pay a $10+ premium in the usual Hampton Inn room rate, in my experience. The rooms were typical: clean and with the usual appointments (nothing like the grandeur of the main house). The breakfast was the usual disappointing Hampton Inn eggs, though the sausage was...

This Hampton is unique. Part of the property is in an old building and the lobby is lovely. The room itself is typical modern Hampton and was clean. Staff very friendly and accommodating. The breakfast was typical Hampton breakfast fare (hence the 4 stars rather than five) and the layout of the serving area was a bit awkward. I DID...

This property is unique for a mid range hotel chain in that the main building is a restored home from the 19th century that houses check-in, breakfast etc., while the rooms are in a separate newly built addition connected to the main building by a short covered walkway. The check-in staff were quite friendly both days we were at the...

Stayed one night. Very different than other Hampton Inns. The main building is an historic mansion and very beautiful inside. This is also the location of the complimentary breakfast. The room we stayed in was basic, no frills but it was very clean.

In June of 1997 the tradition of Col Alto was reborn as it opened its doors once again to welcome visitors to the City of Lexington. Step onto the beautiful grounds of the Hampton Inn Lexington-Historic District hotel and be mesmerized. You'll find our breathtaking historic manor house-the Col Alto Mansion-nestled on seven acres. Stay in one of the 76 rooms featuring contemporary touches or one of the 10 restored manor rooms offering a glimpse into the past. Take a short walk and you'll discover Washington and Lee University. While there, be sure to see the historic landmark Lee Chapel and Museum. Pay respects at the cemetery named for 'Stonewall' Jackson, a Confederate general during the Civil War. Visit Virginia Military Institute, one of six senior military colleges in the United States. Hungry or in need of some retail therapy? Take a stroll down to Main Street to find lots of wonderful, locally-owned restaurants and unique shops. Or if you prefer, take a scenic drive down the road and you'll discover the beauty of nature at Natural Bridge, one of the seven natural wonders of the world. Enjoy your stay in our Historic Robert E. Lee, Stonewall Jackson, VMI or the Washington and Lee Rooms featuring period décor within the Manor House with wine and hors d'oeuvres served upon arrival, breakfast served in-room, evening turndown service, and terrycloth robes or relax in our contemporary guest rooms and accessible rooms featuring a refrigerator and microwave. All rooms feature a 37-inch LCD HDTV with cable channels, lap desk and free Wi-Fi, and many rooms offer a wet or dry bar.
