I went to Prospect Hill based on a magazine article from years before. The place no longer lived up to its reputation. I awoke to a BIRD in my room and the innkeepers acted like it was no big deal. Stay away from this place!

We truly regret that we failed to live up to this guest’s expectations during their visit to Prospect Hill. While we are embarrassed that a bird was able to enter the (297-year old) chimney, we regularly inspect each of our chimneys to ensure the caps are secure. Obviously, we failed in this case and will work hard to make sure...

Our visit was absolutely perfect in every way! From our evening dinner (order the scallops!) to sleeping in the four poster bed; from kicking the leaves on our early morning fall walk to the exquisite breakfast; from sitting on the front porch enjoying the pastoral views to hearing the creak of worn, wood floors; from enjoying a good book in...

Stayed in Uncle Guy’s House for 2 nights. Amazing room with a lot of character and very comfortable. We also had dinner one of the nights and the meal was superb! I would highly recommend one of their Friday or Saturday four course meals Will be going back again soon for both the stay and the meal!

We have stayed at Prospect Hill Plantation twice and plan to return again. The atmosphere is elegant but casual and lived in. We felt very at home and were treated like special guests by everyone. The food was delicious and we so enjoyed our walks visiting the animals, Jack jack the donkey and the alpaca baby was adorable, born right...

We really appreciate your taking time to write this review, and you are so right… each visit to Prospect Hill is a separate, unique experience because of the diverse “personalities” of each of our rooms and cottages. We hope to see you on the plantation again in the future!

We recently had the pleasure of enjoying a long, holiday weekend at Prospect Hill. We stayed in Miss Marcie's room, that was beautifully decorated, exceptionally comfortable, and very quiet, despite being directly above the dining room. The house, grounds and amenities are in of themselves a destination in the greater Charlottesville area. The owners and those involved in maintaining this...

We just spent two nights in the Carriage House at Prospect Hill Plantation Inn, and I cannot say enough good things about the place, the people, and the experience. Nicely located near Ashlawn (Pres. Monroe) and Montpelier (Pres. Madison) we were able to enjoy touring these historical homes, and then came back for a refreshing swim at the pool, a...

Thank you for such a kind review… we especially love to welcome guests visiting the area for the “Presidential History”, as we believe staying at a circa-1732 plantation is the perfect way to immerse yourself into the time period of that era. Thanks for taking the time to share your experiences!

Very old Inn (1732) that was a slave plantation. The hosts were gracious and we were given a card with the Plantation's history which was interesting. The owners have had the Inn for three years and are working on bringing the property back to its original beauty. Our cottage (the old horse barn) had been redecorated. The pool area needed...

Thanks for choosing Prospect Hill, and especially for taking the time to tell others about your experiences (we are continuing to work through our punch-list, and have now painted nearly three-fourths of the exterior of the entire plantation)!

My wife and I celebrated our 30th anniversary at Prospect Hill, a place we have been visiting for 15 years. Prospect Hill is a wonderful inn and the hosts made us feel as welcome as family. We have stayed in the Sanco Pansy cottage twice. This trip, we stayed in the Overseer's Cottage and we loved it. We have arranged...

We spent our anniversary at the Prospect Hill Plantation Inn this year. We stayed in the "Boy's Cabin" which was adorable, built in the 1600's! The bathroom had been added to the back of the cabin several years ago and was badly in need of some updating. We felt this way about much of the property, which looked to be...

Thank you for sharing your anniversary with us, and special thanks for such an honest review. While we’re very late in writing this response, we’re happy to share that the bathroom you mention has been updated with a natural stone floor, solid granite vanity, and a tankless water heater for extra-long showers. As for your dinner, we wish you had...
