Very old Inn (1732) that was a slave plantation. The hosts were gracious and we were given a card with the Plantation's history which was interesting. The owners have had the Inn for three years and are working on bringing the property back to its original beauty. Our cottage (the old horse barn) had been redecorated. The pool area needed...

Thanks for choosing Prospect Hill, and especially for taking the time to tell others about your experiences (we are continuing to work through our punch-list, and have now painted nearly three-fourths of the exterior of the entire plantation)!

My wife and I celebrated our 30th anniversary at Prospect Hill, a place we have been visiting for 15 years. Prospect Hill is a wonderful inn and the hosts made us feel as welcome as family. We have stayed in the Sanco Pansy cottage twice. This trip, we stayed in the Overseer's Cottage and we loved it. We have arranged...

Thank you for celebrating such a special anniversary with us at Prospect Hill, and for choosing to return again and again over all these years (and for recommending us to your friends)! One of our goals is to make each of our guests feel like “part of the family”, and we are glad you sensed that!

Just returned from another wonderful stay. Quiet and peaceful grounds with dogs and cats and chickens! Love it!!! We took the new nature trail walk and loved the feeling of being in the woods. We stayed in a new room for us, Sanco Pansy cabin. It was quiet and well maintained plus all the amenities you will need for your...

We are honored by each of our guests, but those (like you) who have chosen to return over and over again hold a special place in our hearts… thank you for loving Prospect Hill the way we love it!

We spent our anniversary at the Prospect Hill Plantation Inn this year. We stayed in the "Boy's Cabin" which was adorable, built in the 1600's! The bathroom had been added to the back of the cabin several years ago and was badly in need of some updating. We felt this way about much of the property, which looked to be...

Thank you for sharing your anniversary with us, and special thanks for such an honest review. While we’re very late in writing this response, we’re happy to share that the bathroom you mention has been updated with a natural stone floor, solid granite vanity, and a tankless water heater for extra-long showers. As for your dinner, we wish you had...

The glow from the overall experience is still with us. Thomas Jefferson, born after Prospect Hill was a plantation, wrote that "tranquil felicity" was the perfect state. The modern neuroscience writer Antonio Demasio describes felicitous stillness as inner peace and contentment. We stayed in one of the former outbuildings with a plantation fireplace, a modern Jacuzzi, and a timeless view...

Thank you so much for taking time to write this review and share your experiences from your visit to Prospect Hill (first review that’s ever caused me to reach for a dictionary)! We appreciate you noticing the “work-in-progress” that we are continuing to do at the plantation. Prospect Hill is a lovely and unique historical gem that deserves our love...

We stayed one night at Prospect Hill Plantation last week. We had a wonderful experience. We agree with a recent review that if you are looking for a resort atmosphere with high end technology and constant attention that Prospect Hill may not be your best choice. The Inn is located in a rural setting and includes a historic manor house...

Thank you so much for taking time to write this review. Though my response is exceptionally late, you’ll be delighted to know that Chef Elpidio (and Rocky) are still entertaining guests at Prospect Hill (though each in his own unique way)!

We stayed in the groom's quarters 4th of July weekend. The service was exceptional, with breakfast brought to our room. The property has a rich history and beautiful grounds that we were able to walk around. It's about 20 minutes or so from Charlottesville, but we were still able to visit the town each day and take advantage of the...

Thank you for spending the Independence Day Holiday with us at Prospect Hill, and especially for taking time to write this review and share your experiences. Charlottesville is a neat city with a cool vibe, and we are grateful that you chose us as your “home” during your visit to the area!

Situated 20 minutes or so outside Charlottesville, Prospect Hill is a good place to stop if you wish to discover that city and the Blue Ridge Mountains beyond. We received a warm welcome from the owner and given the tour of the main building. Accommodation is in the out buildings that once housed the plantation slaves and workers - some...

Thank you for taking the time to write such a detailed and insightful review of your stay at Prospect Hill. As owners of four years, we are faithfully working through our “punch-list” of updates and upgrades throughout the plantation. While many of the items you describe have been addressed/improved, your review serves as timely inspiration to continue the course… thanks!

What a stay!!! From Rocky (Black Lab) to the inn staff, all were warm and welcoming. Doc was a gracious host, the chef was fabulous, the grounds were beautiful, even the weather was delightful. We enjoyed every aspect of our stay and have already recommended this Inn to friends. I hope that we are able to return soon.

Thank you so much for your kind review, your generous comments, and for telling others about Prospect Hill! While we wish we could take credit for the great weather you experienced, the only thing we can adequately predict is that Rocky is ready to fetch another stick!

There just are better ways to support historical preservation without Disney-fying the Old South. A disappointment wrapped in faux presentations of the institution of slavery, making sunny what needn't be so painted. Consider such whitewashing of history as the Inn's claim about one cabin: "Originally the sleeping quarters of a loyal slave who would spend four years fighting alongside his...
