We booked the Le Relais des 5 Chateaux via booking.com back in May for a 3 night stay in the Dordogne in early September 2012. We booked for Sunday, Monday & Tuesday and arrived late afternoon on the Sunday. Slight language barrier at checking in as the proprietor did not speak English and our French was pigeon to say the... We stayed in the Dordogne region two years ago and stumbled upon this place on the way to Castlenaud. We went back two more times and now two years later enjoyed a wonderful dinner on the edge of a sunflower field. The menu offers local specialties wonderfully prepared and presented. We had magret du Canard (Sliced Duck breast) and steaks... More

A group of six of us booked for dinner on a damp June evening at the Relais des Cinq Chateaux The restaurant was deserted except for one other couple at the next table. The atmosphere was bleak - not very cheerful or attractive. The fixed price menus ranged from 27.50 euros, 32.50 euros and 39.50 euros. There was a choice... More

We booked this hotel the day before we went and it was very cheap so we were a little concerned what it would be like. For the price the hotel was clean, well presented and the room and bathroom were both of a good size. We used the pool which again was clean albeit a little cool - no heating... More

We recently spent a week in the Dordogne Valley. Probably the best date combined a float on the Gabarres Norbert , a visit to Chateau Castelnaud and a visit to the Marqueyssac Gardens. We decided to have lunch at the Relais des Cinq Chateaux, and what a spectacular lunch it was! The setting is just as the name implies... sitting... More

We booked all the rooms for a wedding back in September. The rooms were ok, nothing amazing though. The problems started the first morning of our stay, with the owner of the place refusing to serve a couple of friends because they had not booked their breakfast... She also refused to give cereals to the 2 babies present with us... More

Four of us have just returned on 6th January after a week in the Dordogne between Christmas and New Year. We stay in self catering in Castlenaud La Chappelle which is a favourite location of ours. On two nights out we dined in Relais des cinq chateau which is in a magic setting with a view of 5 chateaux from... More

Profoundly third rate Dangerous to your health. We booked a number of rooms for a wedding party at a nearby chateau. Our party included several elderly people. The entire hotel was unheated, even though it was cool by day and cold by night. We stayed two nights. To stay longer might have endangered our health. We repeatedly asked for the... More

We really enjoyed our stay at Le Relais des 5 Chateaux. The room was ok, the bathroom had a good shower but more impressive was the view: the room overlooked a sunflower field with the chateaux of Marqueyssac and Castelnaud in the distance. Absolutely gorgeous. On our first night (and again on the last) we had dinner at the hotel... More

Our stay at this hotel was wonderful. The food is excellent and the Chef du Cuisine , Eric Vasseur, is a wonderful host. The hotel is exceptionally clean and all the staff are very friendly . I would have no hesitation in recommendng this hotel. The situation is perfect, having breakfast whilst watching the asparagus being picked in the field... More
