I booked this place on agriturismo and was a little nervous because they didn’t have many reviews. Thankfully I was totally blown away by the location and charm of this place. After taking the windy road up from Greve you arrive at a quaint farmhouse at the top of the hill. Giulia, the host, was so friendly and accommodating and armed us with food and winery recommendations for our stay. The breakfast was always fresh and big so we never left the place on an empty stomach. They have an awesome pool to sit by under the hot Tuscan sun before or after trips around Chianti. Our “room” was actually a freestanding cottage with a small kitchen, living room, and bedroom. It was great to be able to cook a couple dinners and sit on the patio to watch the sunset on the endless beauty of Tuscany below. *You’ll need to rent a car (but you would anywhere in this region) and don’t worry about the dirt roads. Our tiny SmartCar made the trip with ease.…
An amzing stay at Casa Mezzuola. We arrived late at night and were greeted by the family which ee had been in contact with before our arrival. Very friendly and their service is first class. They helped us finding our way around Chianti and the surrounding areas, helped us find several choices of cooking classes in the area. I can really recommend the cooking class at Villa Bordoni located no more than 50 meters from Casa Mezzuola. Maybe a bit pricy, but what an experience! Just make sure you have access to a car so you'll be able to visit all the surrounding areas as quick and easy as possible. The roads in Tuscany might be narrow, but the traffic isn't really that bad.
We had a wonderful 10 night stay at Casa Mezzuola in July 2017. Our apartment (Colognole) was spacious and beautifully furnished in keeping with the historic style of the building - no white minimalism here! The kitchen was well equipped and we even managed to get the BBQ going (with a little help!) The pool area was also well looked after and had amazing views over the Chianti countryside. We spent lots of time swimming in the good sized pool and relaxing in the peace and quiet. Guilia and family were fantastic hosts offering lots of helpful information on what to see and do in the area and booking excursions for us (we can definitely recommend the wine tasting with Mauritzio and the Opera in the Kitchen, hosted at a nearby agritourismo). Yes, air conditioning would be a bonus in the hot summer months, and you do have a long walk if you want to go to Greve to eat in the evening, but it is worth it for the view, setting and hospitality (you can always get a taxi back)! I hope we get to return someday. …
We spent a wonderful week at Casa Mezzuola. Our room was beautifully decorated and had a great view. The surroundings are beautiful and it's very peaceful there. Guilia was a wonderful, helpful hostess. We opted to buy breakfast and it was served to us on our private patio. The pool is beautiful and refreshing. We swam every afternoon.
The buildings at this agriturismo are properly and interestingly old, and furnished to a high level of comfort. Our hosts Nicoletta and Giulia were always on hand when we needed them. The scenery is archetypal Tuscany, which is to say gorgeous and spread out all around you. Greve itself is a useful hub for the region, with many truly excellent restaurants - we would particularly single out Gallo Nero, Il Cantina and La Castellana - and other useful facilities for travellers.
