I arrived with my friends here a couple of days ago. As we went to check in we were greater with a glas of madeira wine while we filled out the paperwork. With all inclusive one would think that the buffet style lunch and dinners would become boring and repetitive, but so far they have changed what's available each day... More

Just back from a week at this wonderful hotel (21/11/16 to 28/11/16). This was my third visit this year and nothing had changed except for some members of staff. After the usual warm welcome at Reception and a welcoming glass of Madeira Wine my luggage was quickly dispatched to my room whilst I went for lunch. This Hotel is situated... More

We visited the Riu Palace back in January 2016 and had a thoroughly enjoyable holiday. We have had further holidays during the year which we also enjoyed but which highlighted the strengths of this particular hotel. Some refer to the decor of this hotel as a bit dated but we feel that it creates a warm and luxurious environment in... More

We booked this hotel not knowing until we arrived that it's aimed at more newlyweds and pensioners. Being a young(ish) gay couple, at first this made us slightly uncomfortable. Not that we prance around like queens... but if anyone dishes out the comments it's older people (from experience). However this feeling soon went and we enjoyed the hotel throughout the... More

What to say that hasn't already been said! I'll try to give a few tips. The Lobby & Saloon Bars - once sat at a table, make sure the menu is in the upright position. This draws the attention of the waiters. Who, I must add, are very attentive anyway. Restaurant - at check in you are allocated either a... More

Service superb, food fantastic, rooms roomy, location lovely, entertainment every evening - nothing to moan about at all. Airport a short drive away in one direction and Funchal a short drive in the other and main roads good and fast for sightseeing. All good.

Have used this hotel several times before and been quite happy. This time I have decided it's time for a change. It didn't help that I was ill during my stay, picked up a stomach bug which knocked me off my feet for a few days. My wife advised the staff, being dutifull Brits...In short they offered to call a... This hotel is another fine specimen of a Riu. The service is phenomenal. Nothing is too much trouble for any of the staff. The decor is quite dated, although still very clean and tidy. The entertainment was, in my opinion, tailored well to the majority of the hotel's clientele. A small band plays music either side of the evening's planned... More

We have just arrived back home after spending a week at the Riu Palace. The food was superb and the service was very good. We are not normally fans of all inclusive hotels with buffets but there was no need to worry. The chefs were there every evening cooking fresh meats and fish and there was a good range of... More
