The Vintage House is the most beautiful hotel I've visited. It's truly breathtaking in a breathtaking part of the world. The service was a little spotty given that the owners had recently sent in a group of highly knowledgeable and experienced staff to train a group of less experienced staff. That said, when you get the right person, the service...

Loved the Vintage House! It is located on the river with outstanding views! The staff is very helpful and breakfast is delicious. We were there at a very quiet time of the year but still enjoyed it very much. Stay here!

We stayed after the hotel had just been remodeled, and it was great. Don't be afraid that it's not part of a fancy international hotel group; it's the premier property located right on the river in the heart of town. A no brainer. We only stayed one night, I wish I could have stayed longer.

Spent there 3 days lately. Impeccable staff, lovely breakfast. Cosy and compliant bed, clean room and impressive bathroom. a beautiful paved 2km alley takes you to Croft Port shipper, best experience for a morning walk. Good local restaurant and Bar. A place to return to.

Many people take the train out to Douro just for a day trip, but I'd recommend staying at least one night, and staying at this hotel. The hotel is walking distance to multiple quintas and situated on a lovely stretch of river. The staff is welcoming and helpful and will book you as many quinta tours as you like. It...

Stopped in here for a bite to eat and the food was great. The hotel itself though was beautiful and well worth it if you are wanting to stay in the area. I would highly recommend reservations at DOC about a 15 min drive away if you do stay in the area. It's an amazing restaurant!

Superb location and hospitality: bed, breakfast and staff outstanding. The hotel has a very comfortable living area with chairs and sofas where you can seat and calmly read your book. "The" place to explore the region.

We had a less than perfect stay here at the end of October. The hotel itself was lovely. The grounds are just beautiful, the rooms well cared for and nicely appointed, and the breakfast very appealing. It should have been a relaxing stay in a beautiful setting but as noted by a previous poster the air conditioning was not working...

We stayed for two nights and just loved it. The room was great with a fabulous view over the Douro River and the various tour boats which are based in the town, not the least being the hotel's beautiful wooden river cruiser that looked to be about 65 feet long. We didn't have time to check out the river cruise...

Nice hotel. Reasonable service. Good location and accommodations, but for such an expensive and exclusive hotel, not having a working air conditioning service, with temperatures over 25/27 Celsius is unacceptable!!!
