The food at Breakfast and in the evenings was a good standard and plenty of choice for everyone. Pleasant staff who serve you and chat.
Reception team helpful and friendly, the online check in was a slight annoyance however once it is done then it is fairly simple. ( once you know how)
The hotel is spotless and cleaned daily you can see the effort which is put into that makes it feel Covid safe as well.
Pool is smaller than most however don’t let that put you off it’s got a jacuzzi which seems to hit the spot for many people.
As a frequent traveller there isn’t anything I would change about this hotel location is spot on for anyone who wants a beach break.
staff:
Very polite, helpful, friendly
Restraunt:
Not that much to choose from, beautiful food, salad bar gorgeous, deserts to die for.
Breakfast lovely lots and lots of variety.
Pool area full sun plenty of sunbeds to bathe on.
Evening entertainment was good the entertainment staff so friendly and they manage to get everyone involved...
Now the bad points:
The bar prices!! Omg scandalous!! €5 a can of strong bow
€8.50 for a vodka and coke
Whatever you do don’t take one of the pensioners seats in the evening or in the restaurant.. you’ve had it if u do. Regulars have their favourite seat and if u happen to sit in it that’s it everyone knows about it.
We knew this was an adults only but the age range was from 65-90 ( however we did meet some lovely people in their early 60’s ) would I go here again?? Probably yes in high season only for the hotel facilities. It’s set on an absolutely stunning beach, perfect food and staff I would give it 10*’s for cleanliness, staff, food, location however if your anything below 60 I would perhaps avoid this place
This year to celebrate my partners 60th birthday we decided to do just that.
The check in despite being late at night(flight was delayed by an hour) was swift and very courteous.
A cold meal was waiting for us in the restaurant due to our late arrival.
From the moment from checking in the staff were always friendly and courteous.
The hotel and rooms were spotless and has air con throughout which was needed due to high temperatures.
The food was very good with a varied choice and always hot and freshly prepared.
The entertainment guy was very pleasant and not too pushy as we didnt always want to participate each day. The quality of the drinks was of a high standard and were quite reasonably priced.
each room has a nice flat screen TV with various channels and even displays the days evening meal menu.
The pool area is very clean and I witnessed a team of 8 cleaning staff cleaning and wiping down every sunbed individually one morning before the doors opened to the pool.
A nice touch also was one afternoon, on my partners birthday a birthday card and a bottle of Cava was delivered to our room which we really appreciated.
We have stayed in 5 or 6 different hotels in Palma Nova and this ranks as the best for all reasons, location, food, staff, facilities, entertainment etc. We are planning our return as week speak and really vannot recommend this hotel highly enough.
Refurbished to a high standard throughout with rooms having stunning views across the bay.
Staff were faultless , all really engaging and helpful
Pool area is good and entertainment from 11.00 onwards which got those who wanted to , making friends and having fun.
Evening entertainment is above average for a relatively small hotel with a decent act on nightly. The local entertainment team really went the extra mile to ensure everyone was looked after
Food was again above average and definitely aiming to please the British clientele with very safe traditional fare.
Downside is relatively expensive drinks....lager 3.80, house wine 14.50 and southern comfort 7.80
Tip...travel independently to soller....taking the 845 bus to connect with the local 1030 train
We will be back for a brilliant out of peak season break as the proximity to Magaluf would personally deter us from high season booking
Well - what a lovely hotel. We got a lovely warm welcome on arrival and were greeted every day with warm smiles.
The hotels is spotlessly clean. The rooms are cleaned daily.
Tea and coffee making facilities are available in each room with adequate supplies for the whole week including milk and water on arrival in the fridge. There are plenty of shops right outside the hotel mainly Spa if you run out
The food at the hotel is really good and of a high standard. I am vegetarian and there was always an option available.
The pool area is spotless with plenty of sun beds.
The beach is right on the doorstep with lots of restaurants and bars nearby. We liked the 3 brothers pubs.
The staff are fabulous as are the Tui reps who were onsite all the time
Sadly we got locked down due to the Pandemic and had to remain in our rooms for the last 2 days. The staff continued to be lovely even though they were scared and were about to lose their jobs as the hotel was soon to be locked down. They continued to cater beautiful food and stayed completely customer focused in what was a very difficult time.
We will definitely go back here and finish our holiday
But
It is very expensive for drinks in both the lounge and pool bars.
You have to pay for water in the evening for dinner.
You have to pay to change your pool towels for fresh ones
There are not enough sunbeds at the pool, hence a sunbed stampede every morning (we went to the beach 13.5 euros all day no stampede)
The pool does not open till 9.30am,
We were there to celebrate our sister in laws 70 birthday, our travel agent had emailed the hotel in advance and when we arrived I asked at reception if they knew about it. They inform that as she was not 70 for another 4 weeks they would not even put a bottle of wine or a wee cake in their room.
A very poor attitude from the hotel considering the amount of we we all spent to stay at this hotel.
This is the 2nd time we have stayed at this hotel so we expected better.
That is why I have only given it 4 out of 5
We also struggled to get a table in the restaurant to seat 6, just one on the outside and had to wait that long for it when we finally got in we were told half way through our main course , if you want dessert get it now as its being put away! We asked if tables could be reserved and were told no, yet again as above, we did see other tables with a reserved sign on. We therefore only had the one evening meal in the hotel, despite being half board.
The pool area is very nice and again spotless, the doors to the pool open at 9.30am and you get your usual queue of people waiting to reserve their beds but we always managed to get one, however if you manage to get hold of a float noodle for the pool guard it with your life as the OAP Ninjas will blatantly take it off your bed in the split second you put it down.
The hotel is definitely geared around the older person and regulars, you do feel a bit like you shouldnt be there, and our age groups were in the minority.
The hotel operates a cashless system which is charged to your room card to pay when you check out along with your tourist tax, as I didnt want a surprise bill on leaving (as its so easy to keep getting drinks/snacks if your at the pool) we paid ours off every few days. On our final day my partner had purchased a plate of chips, as he balanced them on the thin pool bar ledge to put condiments on they slipped and all fell on the floor. This was an accident and yes he was clumsy but he wasnt offered a replacement despite the several hundred euros our group had spent at the bar over the week, I do feel this was mean and not particularly customer friendly, wonder what would have happened if a regular had done it....
On the plus side I have to say the hotel is spotless in all areas, the staff friendly and the rooms very nice, with a lovely walk in shower. The breakfasts are good with plenty of choice and the location is great. We were on the 8th floor and the views were lovely and the balcony is nice to sit out on during the late evening. The rooms do have air con but the hotel sets it at21 and this cant be changed!
The staff are friendly, English speaking and well trained and actually make you feel welcome.
The Customers who stayed the same time we did where mainly English and retired and most of them stay at the hotel year after year which speaks for itself.
The food was excellent and was mainly English with a few Spanish dishes in between if you wanted to try them along with a Gala night on Wednesday. The Restaurant manger made sure everything was well presented and correctly served.
All rooms have fantastic views and everything you need including a fridge and British Television Channels.
The Hotel as access directly onto the sea front were there is a flat walk into Palma Nova to bars and restaurants.
There is also professional entertainment in the hotel every night if you do not want to go out.
Many thanks for a brilliant holiday and well done to the Son Matias Staff. Keep up the good work and we will definitely see you next year..
Small Snags and recommendations to make it better are the following.
1. You need to sort the cable TV out as as you know it keeps breaking down.
2. It would be nice if you offered the safes in the rooms for free and not charge 20 euro ( a bit petty)
3. This will make you laugh, this hotel is so perfect, please get maintenance to fill in the hole above the fire escape light and replace the light on the stair landing between floors 1 and 2, it has bugged me all week.
