Wanted a short stay holiday. Was perfect for us. Was nice and quiet, bit of building work going on, but didn't really hear it. Close to a small bay. Restaurants and local shops about a 15-minute walk. Buses were quite frequent and a good service. The hotel was great. Food was excellent, staff lovely and friendly, pool area was nice and quiet. The room was clean and comfortable. Took the shuttle bus into palma. It was a good service 10 euros each way only took about 15 minutes well worth it.

This intimate boutique hotel is spread between two sites very close to each other. My partner and I opted for the adults only option which was in a separate building a short drive / a”walk from the main reception. On arrival we were greeted by a very lovely, friendly & welcoming lady who checked us in even though it was still early morning. She also helped us with things later on in our stay & couldn’t have been more helpful, a real asset to the hotel. Our room would be ready at 3 but we were given a room to store our luggage and get changed into our pool wear.. fantastic! We used the lovely pool facilities in the Tacanda building, had a little walk to the beach, which is only minutes from the hotel then returned at 3 and were taken by minibus around to the Costas building which is adult only & just minutes away! Gorgeous fresh reception, warm & welcoming staff once again! The very friendly fella who drove us up also took us to our room & gave us everything we needed to know! Now I need to address the building site issues mentioned in previous reviews ..! Yes, there is building going on around the hotel but not at the hotel & I did have worries about this but I hand on heart can say this did not affect our stay at all!! I will say it is worth booking a sea view as then you are on the opposite side to the building site & there is no noise whatsoever! We sat by the pool daily & heard nothing other than the quiet ambient music provided by the hotel! Breakfast was super yummy & lots of veggie 🌱 options too!! Drinks were lovely, always Ice cold & very reasonably priced ! Every staff member we encountered were absolutely lovely! Lots of lovely restaurants just a short walk away. To sum up we will certainly be returning (they also offer 5% off for returning customers which is a lovely touch). Definitely a sea view again but an upgrade to a comfort room as we were admiring the sun lounges on a big balcony 😍! I am cabin crew so work, play & stay in hotels around the world & can honestly say this is more than value for money & thoroughly enjoyable! Thank you for a relaxing & lovely few days Costas Portals. We will be back ! Niki & John - UK

Very nice hotel, absolutely great staff esp anca, Gabriel, sophia. BUT terrible location. Very very hilly area, avoid if you’ve got kids or of the older generation. They’ve got 4 different buildings/hotels. . We arrived at 12 and were told our rooms would be ready at 3 ( they took our cases and we had a quick change , no problem with that) we can back around half 4 to check in that’s where the nonsense started. I booked ourselves and my parents into the adults only. They were put into a Tacande portals superior delux room with sea view (overlooking the building site across the road) . then the tried to put us into another building down the road. Kept saying it’s only 280 metres (maybe if your a crow) !! . Absolutely no way!! we were all booked half board so we would have had to walk the near 1/2 mile walk up/down hills for food every night in the near 25-30 degree heat. Parents room overlooked the new hotel building site right across the road. Sea view?? (NOT) Anyway. They eventually agreed that everyone could stay together if my parents moved down to the other hotel with us. Fully booked we were told. Both hotels were nearly deserted the first 4-5 days. things eventually got sorted out once anca appeared. €3000 euros to get this nonsense. anyway the staff at costa portals( adults only ) we’re absolutely great. Gabriel, anca, Sophie and marcele. couldn’t fault any of them. Hotel/pool/bar spotless. Breakfast and Food by the pool through the day. was brilliant, night meal at the other hotel up the road was average. The location of this hotel really lets it down. If you live by the pool for 7 days and want to relax it’s perfect. If you like a walk about then it’s hills/hills/and more hills. 10-15 mins to the shops is hills/hills. You can’t miss them. They’ve been very economical with the truth regarding location. .

My partner and I came away for a week long stay at this hotel. We paid a fair bit of money so had expected a lovely hotel. Everything about this hotel was just average and service was quite poor at times. The deluxe room was big however view from the balcony was a building site. We had to ask multiple times for our bed to be changed from 2x singles into a double which took 2 days for them to action, and then it took another 2 days to get some extra pillows. The location isn’t great and there isn’t much to do around the hotel so we spent quite a bit of time in taxis to neighbouring towns. The beach near the hotel is very small with no shops close by to buy water/ ice cream etc.

The worst part of the hotel was the horrendous noise we could hear that sounded like drilling and lasted into the early hours of the morning. It sounded like it was in the room next to us and was extremely unpleasant/ prevented us from sleeping. We called reception 3 times about this and they did nothing. Eventually we went down at midnight to ask them to make it stop.. turns out it was the jacuzzi bath from a room on the floor below us. Multiple other guests were down at reception also complaining. Alberto on reception was extremely rude and unhelpful, he claimed he asked the other guests to stop/ keep the noise down but nothing stopped until beyond 12:30. There were no apologies for the inconvenience or for us, in fact quite the opposite.

Lots of other reviews raved about the breakfast at this hotel but again we thought it was very average. The hot food buffet was usually cold (sausages, bacon, eggs etc) and the rest of the food was the same every day. The dinner buffet was over priced again for cold food (€27pp). The pool bar is ok but not a great choice and again quite expensive.. but because of the location (and the fact it was a 15minute uphill walk in the sweltering heat to get anything else) meant that there weren’t many other options.

If you’re thinking of booking this hotel I simply wouldn’t. It is over priced for what it is and you can get more for your money in a better location elsewhere in Mallorca.

The hotel is nice looking and fairly close to a beach. The spa is not much spa more like an indoor swimming pool but not big enough for many. There is a smaller sauna also. It's not for the spa you should come. The fitness area is not much either. You live very close to your neighbors here and its okay for the price. The breakfast is actually pretty good as the chef can make eggs and pancakes for you. A wide range of good food I think. Not optimal for people with allergies but manageable.

BUT there is so much noise from the construction right across the street it can be heard from everywhere in the hotel and dining-area. Very important to know this and the hotel should be more clear about it. They made noise from 8.48 in the morning and sometimes from 9.45 in the morning. It's not fair - all a hotel should make sure of is a good night sleep which is essential for most guests. So a sleeping earplugs and headphones + facemasks for the eyes should be default.

I complained about the noise knowing they couldnt stop it but they said they couldnt help and I should resolve it through the booking agency. Which also said they couldnt do much. At least offer some compensation or solution I would think.

The hotel staff was very kind when speaking to them but it seemed their manager is not wanting to solve guests issues as they always referred to her.

Water in the room is scarce and there is no supermarkets close by. The road is fairly empty and not too much traffic at all. Beach is small but beautiful.

Room has what is expected and a boiler.

Cleaning seamed fine until I lied on the floor doing exercises and saw just how dirty there where. It's a very shallow cleaning. I might not have noticed but on top of the lack of sleep due to construction and no solution then you as a guest, tends to notice all that is out of place.

All in all a fair experience but I think they should lower the price of the rooms in the period the construction is there. Or your guests start getting mad that you didnt warn about it first.

We are sorry we have not met some of your expectations and the noise problem, we can not do anything about it as all works in the area have permits from the authorities. I am very sorry that you feel that management has not wanted to solve the problems, whenever a customer has asked, we have always tried to help, I do not know if this was your case, we will transfer your complaints and suggestions to the commercial department as they are the ones who make these decisions. If you need anything else I will be happy to listen to you. Best regards.

Recently went for a hen do. When we arrived one of our rooms was in a completely speedster building which we hadn’t been told about when we booked, however on the second day they did move the room for us.

Room was a good size but lacked storage with very little space to put clothes away.

The cleaning was average and the room felt very dusty.

Breakfast was good with a large selection to choose from

Staff were mainly friendly however there always seemed to be a lack of staff on reception which left the receptionists not being overly helpful.

Overall we had an OK stay but I wouldn’t be rushing back

I have stayed in this hotel several times now and it did not disappoint, especially in light of Covid, the measures taken were very reassuring.
The reception staff as usual were amazing, so friendly and helpful. The breakfast is fantastic.
We had a gold level junior suite and please don’t take these points as negatives because they are not; just feedback:
I am not sure I would pay for this exact room type again, the room itself is fantastic but the balcony which has the jacuzzi on is very overlooked. So whilst I loved the room, we didn’t use the jacuzzi much as we felt overlooked and also it was poolside and we were very conscious of not being too loud as the sound carried and it’s a very peaceful hotel which all of the guests are really respectful of. I also would put a full length mirror in these rooms but apart from that, perfect.
Also we completed all the check in procedures prior to arrival but then had to do them again so not sure why this was necessary; I also felt like the hotel could have utilised the information regarding arrival and departure times better as we couldn’t check in until exactly 3 - which is fine but maybe in a suite you would hope for a little flexibility, the same with check out.
Like I say though these are not complaints just feedback as I love this hotel and we will only stay either here or the Iberostar when in Portals

The pictures make this hotel look like a 5 star, classy, spacious place to be. In actual fact it’s the exact opposite. It’s run down, the pools are half the size of what they look like in the photos, with the surrounding areas looking worse for wear.

When we checked in, there were a queue of guests complaining about how they had not received clean towels for over 3 days. The staff were nothing but dismissive about the situation explaining how it’s not their fault it’s the cleaning companies fault, providing no solution for their guests.

Honestly, don’t be fooled by the hot tubs in rooms, and the “VIP access pool” it’s all a con.

We had pay extra for the Gold standard, this included balcony hot tub, exclusive use of Bali sun beds & pool, roof terrace mini bar & coffee machine with 4 coffee pods per day, Spa, free snacks in the day.
The hot tub was a large bath, Bali beds were ripped & some minis the roofs plus the pool was about a foot deep, the roof terrace was scruffy with torn astro turf & a odd few chairs, only 2 coffee pods with 2 milks ( when asked at reception told only can have 2) mini bar was empty, Spa was dull indoor pool, the free snacks was often empty with only bits of meat
& bread there was a coffee machine but never any milk.
There was also building works in 4 areas around the hotel with ongoing work & noise, our view was awful. Also stated as adults only but children were there.
On the plus side the restaurant staff were lovely & food nice yet the reception staff un helpful.
We paid extra for the Gold standard expecting a better experience & luxurious stay but unfortunately this was not the case.
Please don’t waste playing extra for this

We had a lovely week here recently and we found the hotel very friendly, extremely clean and well serviced.
It's in a lovely area and really close to a super little cove and beach bar..you don't need much more..,but it's a nice walk to the Marina and village for the fit and able.
The breakfast is really good and there is plenty of variety. The pool bar is really nice and staff very attentive.
We tried the restaurant but were a little disappointed with the set up there. Mainly buffet with the meat and fish cooked before you on the griddle. Not our choice but then each to their own. We like to go to local restaurants and mix with the locals.
We had a top floor room with a sea view, and it was a lovely large room. The only thing we were slightly disappointed with was that there were 2 building sights across the road from the hotel which impinged on the outlook and were somewhat noisy in the day and especially when having breakfast directly in view. So at the moment the lower floor rooms would not be attractive to anyone, especially sitting out on the balcony or terrace.
That is the only reason we gave 4 stars just now.
