In my book all inclusive means you can eat all day and night, not at set times and you really shouldn't have to pay for better quality drinks either that shoube a big fat 'NO' Yes you can get a very dry cheese sandwich at the bar throughout the day when the restaurant is shut, but its clearly days old which isn't fit for consumption even the birds would struggle with it. Staff are miserable a smile wouldn't go a miss, grumpy = no tips! The restaurant serves up lukewarm food truth is it's inedible, without doubt it's the worse food I've ever tasted. They really shouldn't be allowed to get away with it considering the cost of the holiday, you expect decent food and drinks. It got that bad that we had to start eating out elsewhere. We thought our luck had changed one day when we seen the sign in the restaurant 'CHEFS SPECIAL' turns out it was hotdogs or beef burgers which would've made a good sole for a worn out set of shoes. Since when are hotdogs considered to be a specialist dish? You can get them up and down the country at football grounds, and they taste a darn sight better than this muck they serve up! The bar closes at 11pm we're on holiday for gods sake, also you're serving watered down drinks, you shouldn't have to pay extra for the good stuff, as i said all inclusive should mean all inclusive. The night entertainment is a joke in all my years of going on all inclusive holidays which is over 30 years this without doubt is the worse evenings entertainment I've ever come across 3 people turned up one night it was an embarrassment. So all in all if you want good food and drinks, and a good nights entertainment don't bother coming here. Save your money and go elsewhere. I worked out that in any given 24 hours the restaurant is only open for just over 7 hours of the 24 that in my opinion doesn't constitute an all inclusive holiday package especially for the price you pay. There's so much more i could say but i really can't be bothered, the only good thing is the beach its up there with the best of them.

I don’t really take much notice of the reviews on here. However I thought a lot were very harsh. I stayed last May and the worst thing was the weather it was freaking even snow and hail. The bar was often busy but always somewhere to sit and the drinks are defiantly not watered down. Decent measures and service pretty good, yeah you may wait a little while if busy. The food was fine dunno where some people saying it’s dire. There was a decent choice and was good can just self pour wine soft drinks and beer I believe. Location is fine next to a beautiful beach that you can walk along to port de alluding failing that the buses are close by and inexpensive. I even used the bus to do a day trip to Palma I think return was around 9 euros. I had a single room not the biggest but did for my stay and was cleaned daily. Give the hotel a break guys.

We went to this hotel for our honeymoon last year and returned again this year for our anniversary. A perfect quiet location with super easy access to the beach and just a short bus trip up to the old town. The hotel had made several improvements which include sun beds on the beach, a refurbishment for part of the dining room and higher quality food. We asked for a room on a high floor with a sea view which was catered for perfectly the room was spotless and very comfy. Evening entertainment was okay but we preferred to stroll out down the beach and watch the sunset as it wasn’t really our things. They had made several improvements with the food, more variety on offer with different themes in an evening and more vegetarian meals available. We were worried the first time we went after seeing complaints about the food but were really impressed with the improvements this year and the chefs were really friendly and willing to make adjustments when asked. All the staff were so incredibly friendly and welcoming and made us feel very relaxed. Have seen several negative reviews about the hotel but really disagree, it’s an in-expensive 4 star hotel and on both occasions we got more than our moneys worth and had an incredible time. If you want a low-key relaxed hotel that won’t cost the earth then this is a perfect choice.

This was my 2nd visit to the hotel after spending just a few days there at the same time last year so this will be a bit more informed. The hotel itself was clean as was the room, storage space is at a premium in the room and if you're there for a decent amount of time as we were then you could struggle to hang/place your clothes. There's no coffee/tea in the room but I believe this is being rectified next season. The shower is really nice and the towels are ok. They are bath towels and not sheets and basic material but are changed every day if you want them to be. The rooms are cleaned daily by a great team. The bed is ok and the pillows can be a bit unforgiving if you like something a bit softer, there's a tv in the room with English and Spanish channels. The balcony, depending on where you are in the hotel, can give a nice view and has chairs to relax out there. The pool area is quite nice but I suspect it will get very congested very quickly in the busy months and even in October you get the usual queue early to get the best beds. To be honest it's the quickest the elderly move all day when they go and nab the 'prime' spots. The pool itself is not heated and is quite cold, probably nice when it's in the high 30s but not so much in the autumn. The bar and the staff are great, no short measures, in fact there's probably trebles going into alcoholic drinks. Nothing fancy from there but if you want that then there's plenty of clubs around the area. The Tui rep is available pretty much all the time and has a great knowledge of the area and excursions available. Entertainment, I found, can be a bit hit and miss. The entertainment 'manager' does try but depending on what day it is can struggle to raise interest in what's on that day. Probably due to the demographic that stays there. Right, the restaurant/food offering. It is very much aimed at the British palate. I found some dishes quite bland - lacking a bit of spice. There is a salad bar and other healthy options. Evening meals are changed every day and all tastes are attempted to be catered for. There is a self service beer tap and wine chiller available along with juice and coffee machines. Breakfast is ok, cooked, fruit, cereals, yogurts, toast etc available. It's not as bad as people make out but a bit of local dishes and a bit more taste would be great. The restaurant team are great and polite. There will be allergen information available next season. The worst part of the restaurant experience are the elderly people who just can't wait in the queue, they push in, lean across and just generally are rude. The same ones running out to the pool at 8am. Try saying something to them and they look at you like you've just spat in their food. So a slightly more organised queueing system would be good. And yes, it is the elderly that do it. No issues with the younger holiday makers there. The location of the hotel is great, a lovely, sandy beach with blue sea is just 2 minutes walk, old Alcudia town is a 15 minute bus journey or about 5km if you walk, Can Picafort 20 min bus or about 6km. You can hire a pair of sunbeds with a parasol on the beach for 13 Euros per day. The local public transport is easy, tap on and off the bus and cheap. There is a supermarket across the main road and a very nice coffee shop. Our final week it rained and water came through the window as you can see in the picture. We had to put towels down to soak it up, the hotel itself needs a bit of TLC but it didn't put a 'damper' on our stay. Once again, I believe the hotel is getting a bit of a revamp over the winter. A new gym too. The mosquitoes are an issue and you will definitely need some sort of repellent. There is a 'swap box' in reception where you can leave what you don't want to take home, suncream, after sun, shampoo etc but the repellent does get snapped up quickly. I found all the hotel team approachable pleasant so no issues there. Would I suggest this hotel? If you're looking for an affordable holiday and are happy with some basic elements to the holiday then yes but if you're the sort of person who goes to a bar, orders a pint of bitter and expects a glass of Moet & Chandon to be served then no.

Just returned from a week at this hotel and my review is carefully thought out so as to be fair minded. I will start with the good points. 1. I found the whole place very clean and generally in good order, no broken tiles around the pool, no broken furniture and everything worked ok. 2. The location is right next to a fantastic beach but far enough away from noisy bars and discos so as to ensure a great night's sleep. 3. Most staff were friendly and helpful. 4. The entertainment was OK, you could see it was on a budget but they tried hard. Now the bad points. 1. The food was amongst the worst I have had in all inclusive hotels. At the beginning of the week it was tolerable, but, just like boiling a frog, it got gradually worse and worse as the week went on and we found ourselves eating outside the hotel for lunch or dinner, sometimes both. Lukewarm, cheap, tasteless, recycled, stale, cringeworthy stuff to be putting out if I were the head chef. 2. The drink. While the beer was OK and the wine passable, the rest of the drinks were cheap and lacked quality. Tasteless coffee, poor quality fruit juice (from the land of oranges) poor quality spirits, the 'local' weak sort, if you know what I mean. One of the barmen was quite surly and rude, he clearly forgot that smiles=more tips and grumpiness= no tips. 3. They clearly thought that heating the pool was a waste of money, it was absolutely freezing cold. As a result of this they were in the absurd situation of paying a lifeguard to sit next to an empty pool for 9 hours a day. People who wanted to swim just went in the sea just a minute's walk away. Now some might say that they went here and the food was hunky dory and as we were in the very last week before the winter closure, the management were trying to eek out the very last of the food budget to prevent waste. I felt hard done by because we had paid our money for all inclusive and ended up spending around 200 euro extra just on eating out. I stayed in Mallorca last year in the same week with Globales and didn't have this problem at all. I shan't be returning to the Platja D'Or hotel

My wife and I hadn’t been on a plane for 30 years - having a family and life in general got in the way - so this holiday was our first holiday, just the two of us, for a very long time! We booked the holiday back in January 2023, based entirely on the reviews up to that point. Through the summer, as the holiday drew nearer, we started to get worried by the less positive reviews, particularly regarding the food. So what did we think? The hotel was immaculately clean. The staff were superb and really friendly. Sarah, the TUI rep, was always available, always happy and friendly and helpful. The location was, in our mind, perfect. A stroll through the private garden opposite the hotel and you were on the beach and, what a beach! Absolutely beautiful! A 20 minute walk and you arrive in the centre of Alcúdia - in my opinion, ideal. Our room was on the third floor looking over the sea. The room was east facing which meant we were greeted with a stunning sunrise over the sea, every morning. The room was fairly basic but spotless and fresh on arrival and cleaned superbly every day of our stay. Shower was powerful. Aircon was a life saver. The beds were so comfortable - we slept well every night. There is a fridge, a safe (hired for a small charge) but no kettle. We bought a folding travel kettle and a box of Tetley with us so we were well set up! The pool area was lovely and clean. There were plenty of sun loungers and a nice atmosphere. The pool was not heated but was ideal to cool down whilst sunbathing. We found the sea warmer. The bar area was great. There was usually a queue for drinks, but we were never waiting more than 2 minutes so it was really no problem. The alcoholic drinks included in the all inclusive package were weak but, as we’re not fans of getting tipsy or drunk, that suited us. You could buy branded (and stronger) drinks but we never bothered. We never took in the entertainment so can’t really comment on it but it did seem popular. And now, for me, the only issue - the food. First of all, the dining area was pretty modern and spotlessly clean. The dining staff were so friendly. No complaints there. The food was always well cooked and we were never ill. However, I would describe the food as basic - similar to hospital food or school dinners. There wasn’t a great deal of variation across the 11 days we were there. Breakfast, my favourite meal of the day, was disappointing. The fresh orange juice, turned out to be orange squash. The eggs were lovely but the sausages were bland tasting and the bacon looked uniform and manufactured and tasted unpleasant. One of the evening meals they served some back bacon and herby sausages and they were superb - they should’ve been served at breakfast. Baked beans were fine but the mushrooms appeared to be from a tin and were a bit tasteless and watery. Lunches and dinners consisted mainly of white fish and pork and, occasionally chicken. There was usually a pasta option and that was ok. One night, there was kebab chicken in pittas - that was tasty. And one lunchtime there was a delicious chicken pie. The salad was always fresh and good quality. Deserts were ok. The chocolate ice cream was lovely. One tip, the food was warmer and fresher at the start of the dining sittings, so eat earlier rather than later. I’m quite adventurous when it comes to food but found the food on offer very basic. It felt like it was largely pre-packed frozen catering food, rather than the delicious experience we were hoping for when we booked. That said, we didn’t go hungry and we didn’t get food poisoning! I’ve said a lot about the food but I must stress that we loved our stay. The hotel was immaculate, the location was perfect and we had a wonderful holiday. The food quality would make us think twice about booking again but, if that was addressed, we wouldn’t hesitate to stay at the Hotel Platja D’or in future.

Hotel is immaculate and well presented,, the staff are lovely, pool area beautiful, rooms basic but very comfy.. daily maid service with fresh towels every day. Didn’t use the entertainment so can’t comment on that. beautiful beach just over the road from the hotel.. with warm sea and sunloungers, well worth the 13€ for 2 and a safe too. The restaurant was lovely and big and clean, and the staff were constantly cleaning and tidying up,, that’s where the positive things about the restaurant stop Unfortunately:. The food was just about edible, breakfast was ok if you had cereal and toast, but if you wanted a cooked breakfast it wasn’t very nice. Salads were very nice but after having salad for 10 days I got fed up of it as the hot food wasn’t nice, it was only warm.. unless you got there when the restaurant first opens, the only meat they really do is pork and white fish, and then a bit of beef liver thrown in the mix.. chips were very hard and dried up, deserts were for children, jelly and ice cream, and some small square cakes that looked nice but didn’t taste of anything.. everything was processed or frozen and we couldn’t wait to come home and have a proper fresh meal,we had to go out for a couple of meals while there as we couldn’t stomach the food. I am really sad to have to be so honest about the food as the rest everything else about the hotel is fantastic.. I just hope when they reopen next year the food will be better.

The hotel is as described in the website but it is a little far out from the port. This can however, be accessed by public transport (bus 324/315) Unfortunately we have little positive to say about the food. The menus were very limited with the majority of foods being either pork or 'white fish'. Even the pizza dishes were rarely edible as they were either burnt or had been lying out for some time. We learned that you were best aiming to eat a son as service started as the food got cod quickly. We definitely wouldn't recommend!
