I can certainly recommend room 464 - it's extremely well equipped and has a fantastic direct view of the ocean and the balcony gets so much sunshine; the team work very hard and are keen to make sure everyone is well looked after. It's essentially a couples resort - well set up, a wide variety of facilities and a great location to relax in

We’ve just returned from a week’s stay in this fabulous hotel. We couldn’t fault it. Our room was lovely , the breakfast was great so much choice .The spa was wonderful. The best thing is the staff everyone was so welcoming and helpful. We had a small problem with our bathroom and it was fixed straight away . We can’t wait to go back and have booked again for next year.

The hotel is in an excellent location and the staff are great. However the problem with this hotel is the flies in the main buffet restaurant! We ended up spending 3 of the 4 nights eating out in the harbour after opting for an expensive all inclusive stay. The food was average at best but we couldn’t un see what we had seen with flies crawling all over the food on day 2! If you want a 5 star experience do not book this hotel.

Such a friendly welcome from Julia, Julian, Conto and all the team. Everyone was so helpful and they even sent a birthday cake to our room for my wife's birthday. The facilities were excellent, from the spa to the swimming pools and the restaurants were superb. We booked a return visit it was so good!

We’ve stayed in many 5 star resorts and unfortunately this just isn’t one of them. The biggest thing that lets it down is the food. We read lots of reviews saying the food was poor before we stayed but we thought it couldnt be that bad, we were wrong! The positives - the hotel itself is beautiful, the rooms clean and well presented, the service outstanding from everyone (really lovely/helpful people everywhere in the hotel), great amenities, beautiful hotel, pools were fantastic, preferred area brilliant and great sports bar where we watched football and the F1. We stayed in a swim up suite/room and it was fantastic, the private terrace and easy access the preferred club pool and lounge bar for drinks was great, very convenient, private and relaxing. The negatives - the food. We tried every sit down restaurant including the preferred club options and we haven’t had one good meal in its entirety. Some elements have been lovely (namely the deserts) but the food has been tasteless, overcooked, undercooked etc. I ordered cheese and caramelised onion twists for starter and when they came out they had prawns in them, both my husband and I were served raw chicken on different occasions, i was served undercooked pork, I had prawns which were over cooked, my husband was served bolognese which had a pool of oil in the bottom of the bowl…the list goes on. The buffet selection is also very poor. When you spend a premium for all inclusive you expect to get a high quality of food but the hotel doesn’t offer this and it really lets it down. We ended up eating offsite a few times which the cost us money we shouldn’t have had to have paid when being all inclusive. In comparison to other 5 star hotels and even 4 star hotels we have stayed in, this hotel was significant below par. It’s such a shame as it really lets the hotel down and has been a huge disappointment of our stay. Unfortunately we wouldn’t come back purely because of the food, if they could sort this out the hotel would be amazing and we would have had an incredible stay.

Great location. With the exception of the Italian restaurant, food far below 5-star/Hyatt expectation.Especially the buffet restaurant has very poor selection. The 2 bar-pool restaurants/snacks, also very limited. Even the expected prefered club pool bar, has same lunch food selection. For us, no second time

Dear Explore, It is good to know that your enjoyed both our lcoation and our restaurant Portofino. However, we are concerned about your description of our food, we would also expect our guests to address any such comments to the "Guest Experience Team" who welcome you to each dining area. Had you made us aware of your food choices we would have happily ensured bespoke meals to meet your taste. We really appreciate knowing your opinion when expressed directly with the "Guest Experience team" at the time of your visit. When advised of any issue we always act and can do so much more to better your experience. In this way we foster wonderful relationships with our guests. It saddens us to read your review when we know that we could have surprised you with our actions. We do hope that you will return to us and that we may surprise you with our food & beverage provision on your next stay. Best wishes, Chloé Binham Guest Experience Manager

We recently returned from a 10 day holiday at Secrets Lanzarote Resort and Spa, part of the World of Hyatt group of hotels. The hotel is categorized as 5 star. Clearly it is not! Our large and very spacious suite, cleanliness, staff and most facilities were excellent. BUT. We were preferred guests entitling us to a separate restaurant for breakfast (as opposed to the general one - "World Cafe"). We expected superior service as well as a greater variety of choice of food. No such luck. Apart from the buffet, all that was different was more space and a limited menu. The chefs were unable to make poached eggs properly (having been sent back twice) and had no idea how to make birchermusli. A total disaster! There was no pool boy to locate a sun bed and provide towels. We had to collect towels and return them at the end of the day. A crazy system. Although staff circulated around the sunbathing areas taking orders for drinks, tea was served with tea bags in paper cups with milk. Just like McDonald's! Crockery was to be expected. These failing are unacceptable in what is deemed to be a 5 star hotel. On complaining to the manager for a part financial refund this was denied. Instead, we were offered full board (we were B and B only) and fee drinks as compensation. This we refused as we were eating outside the hotel. Finally, we have been offered, as a good will gesture, a gift voucher for 2 extra days on our next visit to Secrets. The hotel is very much divided into a 1st and 2nd class resort. A poor example of the high standards one would have expected from Hyatt. 4 star at best. Certainly not 5 star.

Dear Mr. Dannenber, We are fortunate to receive some wonderful guests, many of whom return every year. Some repeating guests even make twice or thrice yearly visits. They have become our other family. Trust is all important, we do reach out and engage with our guests to better our hospitality. Our response to your original direct email was detailed. We genuinely extended the offer to host a future stay with attention to every detail that would enhance your experience. However, whilst we listen to all criticism, issues can only be fully examined in discussion with you during your stay with us. We always welcome unbiased, exacting, unembellished factual comment and do act accordingly. A disparaging or sceptical view many be intentioned or not, we will always investigate to achieve an optimum outcome for our valued guest. Professional etiquette and dutiful observance of our responsibilities are paramount. One recognises that, as with all reviews, the picture painted is individual, interpretation and a personal perception. We never knowingly wish to disappoint our guests in any way and our apologies are profuse should we do so. One annoyance can colour a whole enjoyment of your stay so we do work to ensure a seamless delivery of our services as far as we are able. To our future guests we remain ever approachable. Reach out to us at guestexperiencemanager.seclz@secretsresorts.com for any assistance you may require. Sincere regards, Chloé Binham Guest Experience Manager

Great location. 20 minute wait at reception to check in Multiple cockroaches in Preferred Club Swim Up Suite-when raised with reception manager, we were told this is to be expected on ground floor room but offered another room (on same level/corridor) which seemed pointless). Communal area/suite/patio floor tiles cracked/broken. Portifino evening food was not good-told a Lasagne served without lasagne pasta was how it should be. World Cafe evening meal served partially cooked pork from the grill and were using raw meat implements on cooked food. Salad station was almost empty 1hr into service. Meats/cheese also almost empty. Portifino breakfast consistently very good. World Cafe breakfast was under stocked. World Cafe lunch was limited, stale breads. Beds were comfortable and housekeeping did a fabulous job in the room. Cocktails were not good/not well made. The hotel seemed understaffed.

We had in mind a chilled out by the pool, read a few books kind of holiday. We had that plus some unexpected treats in the way of a variety of mini workshops and activities. The beauty party was fabulous where we tried the spa range of skin treatment products and I booked a spa session as a result of that. Tried the soy candle making session at 6pm today by Iranti, helped by Michaela, which was inspired. We were taught how to prep and create our wicks, then picked your essential oil scent to mix with the soy wax. Had a choice of crystals, mineral stones, dried herbs and spices to include in or decorate the candle top with. The glass and its perfectly fitting box were ideal container and package for the candle. Well thought out. Nice touch serving Cava and beautiful desserts with it. Hubby and I attended two drink making sessions so far, on different afternoons near the pool. I can now make Sangria and a Pina Colada cocktail. Didn’t realise Sangria was so lethal! Had the demo by Michaela and you then make your own and enjoy the results! We tried the yoga session at 9:30 in the morning which was a beginner session. It has been some time since I’ve done yoga and this was an ideal restart for me. Wonderful instructor. Fantastic view looking over the ocean. Hubby joined me for the yoga and wants to go to another - that says a lot!
