Sickness stomach bug ruined what could have been a fabulous holiday. Very ill in bed for two full days. I was one of many many guests who were very ill during my stay. I did report to TUI and also to the in house tui rep (hotel just said sorry to hear...no info taken from us) Looking at previous reviews this has been a long term issue at the hotel which should have been advertised in order to give people the option to take the risk or find alternative accommodation-Went with my husband who had the bug after me. We lost between us almost 5 days of our 7 day holiday to confining to room/balcony as didnt want to share it around! we did speak to several other couples who themselves had either had the bug/or other half ill in bed with it...this IS NOT GOOD Location beautiful, surrounded by miles of sand and gorgeous blue sea.

Hotel's Favourite
Excellent stay at Oliva Beach. Transfer from the airport is 30 mins with no other drop offs along the way, so not worth paying for a private taxi. Check in fast and easy. We stayed in the annexe rooms overlooking the pool which was a great room with a great view. The rooms are spacious, yes dated but this doesn't matter, they are clean, our maid Zoraida was lovely, she looked after us really well, fancy towel art and even left flowers in our room one day. Separate bedroom, bathroom then a large room with 2 sofa's and a dining table and chairs leading out onto the balcony with another table and 4 chairs. Air con wasn't the best but it was ok as the windows opened wide and gave a nice breeze! The pool opens at 8am and sunbeds cannot be reserved before then which is good as it means you don't have to get up at silly o clock to get a sunbed. We preferred the annexe pool as the hotel pool was small and sunbeds very close together. To access the beach you need to walk over through the main hotel, only a couple of minutes walk, what a beautiful beach, never seen so much sand, there are no sunbeds on the beach, but just take your towel to lay on. Turn right along the beach and you will come across the nudist beach, turn left past Tres Isla hotel and we saw lots of kites, there are sand dunes and little sunbathing areas with rocks as a wind shelter and a bit of privacy. There is no beach bars, the hotel is remote, so take your own refreshments. The only bar near by is the Banana bar which only seemed to open during the day, but there is no outdoor seating so we didn't bother. There is also a supermarket next to Banana bar which is cheaper than the hotel and is easier to access from the annex rooms through a side gate. Just outside the hotel is a taxi stop and a bus stop a little further up. The bus is 1.40 each no matter how far you want to go, it goes as far as the harbour and takes about 15 mins. Taxi from Corralejo centre is around 10 euros, depending on where you want to go. The centre is defo worth a visit, its lovely around the harbour, can catch a ferry to Lanzarote for 38 euros each. music square is also worth a visit in the evening, livening up around 8pm, lots of restaurants to dine in if you want a change from the all inclusive food in the hotel. There are plenty of bars along the strips and shops selling fake designer handbags, clothes, sliders etc all pretty much the same. We visited seven pints bar, they had a drag karaoke on one night and also Retro bar where there was a couple singing, was really good again just for a change from the hotel. At the hotel the entertainment was indoors so we didn't bother as its quite warm indoors everywhere in the hotel, especially the restaurants, they didn't seem to use the air con. The food was nice, different meats on each evening and something for even the fussiest eater! Yes my other half had a day of being sick but I genuinely don't think it had anything to do with the food as we'd eaten the same and I was fine. We put it down to sun stroke, so purchased some factor 50 and a cap and all was fine after that. The sun is very intense and with the wind its very deceiving. Drinks were good, several cocktails to choose from, my favourite was the coco loco, they had Estrella, Radleys, red/white/rose wine and spirits. Soft drinks coke, fanta lemon/orange, water and juices. We booked into the A La carte restaurant Madarin one night, which was really good but I couldn't stay in there for long as it was way to hot and was uncomfortable. Check the chicken skewers though as one of them was under cooked. There is a disco on a Thursday, Friday and Saturday night which was really good, played some good tunes, again way too hot, was very tempted to jump in the pool on the way back just to cool off! Would we go again most definitely, looking forward to see what the refurb brings, but the downside with that is the prices will probably go up and for what we paid for our 11 nights stay was amazing. Get it booked, give it a go and make your own mind up about the hotel, don't let any negative reviews put you off. The staff are all lovely and cant do enough for you, we met some lovely people.

We recently spent 4 weeks at this all-inclusive 3 Star hotel. It is scheduled for demolition but RIU are appealing the decision. Because of the uncertainty over its future, the hotel has not been refurbished for many years. The hotel is, as many others have said, tired and outdated. The hotel is situated on a beautiful beach and you can walk to Corralejo in 40 minutes. A bus takes just 10 minutes. The hotel offers very good value for money but if you are looking for high-end quality of food, furnishings and fittings, then this is not for you. The staff are very good – except for the Security Guards who seem to wander around aimlessly all day chatting to the staff or propping up the bars drinking coffee, while they could actually be policing the sometimes bad behaviour of the hotel’s customers. This is where our real criticism of the hotel rests. There are many hundreds of guests from all around Europe at the hotel - mostly British and German. It seems that the low price of the holidays attracts many who find it difficult to behave sensibly. We saw children spitting into the swimming pool and other bad behaviour. Clearly the parents did not control them, so there was a need for some form of staff intervention but this was not forthcoming. The worst culprits are the many smokers and vapers who do not abide by the ‘no smoking' signs. Again, the security staff did not seem to feel that it was their job to intervene. The signs should make it explicit that vaping is smoking and should not be done in ‘non smoking' areas. Unfortunately, there are very few 'no smoking’ areas throughout the hotel, so you will find it difficult to avoid breathing in all that stuff that the smokers and vapers have had in their lungs, mouths and noses. Indeed, if you want to make use of the sun loungers and parasols throughout the complex, you will not find any in an area where smoking is prohibited. Our advice to RIU is simple. Create more ‘no smoking or vaping' areas throughout the complex and ensure that these restrictions are enforced by staff.

Another lovely 10 day stay at this Hotel. Great Entertainment Shows performed by Toby, an amazing dancer and the lovely Tasha. Good Music nights in Carlos bar across the terrace. Carlos and Enrique work exceptionally hard every day, always making sure everyone has a drink and is not kept waiting. The waiters also work so very hard in the snack bars and always with a smile and a greeting. The waiters and waitreses in the Restaurant are a credit to the hotel. The Themed Restaurants, Mandarin and Canario are exceptional and credit to the cooks, the food is outstanding and in any other resort you would have to pay an extra supplement for this type of food. The only criticism I have to make , (not only from myself but by other guests, who have stayed there many times) - The tables and chairs should not have been removed from the poolside. To just have all sunbeds close together is very uncomfortable, also more work for the waiters to continually have to pick cups, pots from the floor, when guests have had food and drinks, they want to be able to put them on a table to eat and drink. Guests with any disability also need to be able to sit on a chair to feel more relaxed. Please can the chairs and tables be put back so guests can choose where to sit to feel more comfortable when eating and drinking. Apart from that issue, Thank You for an enjoyable stay.

Lovely area . But room was very very dated . . We have been in riu hotels before . In Dominic Republic. Back in October 2023 Was very satisfied with our room there . This was also with tuition. More themed restaurants in the olive would of been nicer . As both special restrictions, we're in same place . As normally themed restaurants normal are decorated, to the them be it indon ,chines etc. That was a little disappointing, as enjoy ,the different looks . As just seemed just a run mill restaurant .

Our stay started well and just got better. The decor is dated but why would that upset anyone? Every area in the hotel is absolutely spotless. The staff are all so nice and extremely helpful. The food is varied and fresh, the selection 8s huge. The drinks are top class too. I would come back again
