This is the second time we’ve stayed here, the first was pre covid. We booked direct with the hotel and had emails answered within minutes each time we contacted them. The price quoted was very favourable in comparison to some of the bigger hotels in Calella. The rooms are spotlessly clean. It’s a fairly basic hotel but more than acceptable for a sun holiday where you spend very little time in your room anyway. The shower was great and not a pathetic dribble as in some hotels. The pool area is great and quirky. There was no having to fight for a sun-bed or stress about space around the pool. The bar is very reasonably priced as is breakfast which can be ordered the day before as and when you want it. The hotel is centrally located on the main shopping street and less than a 5 minute walk from the beach. There are some very nice restaurants within a couple of minutes walk. We booked a shared transfer from Barcelona airport and got lucky as we were the first drop off. The journey took an hour and cost €23 for the two of us. It’s about an hour on the train back to Barcelona which we did for the return journey costing €5.50 each. It’s very likely we will be back here again as it was every bit as good as we’d remembered first time round.

We stayed in a triple room, clean, comfy good aircon. The hotel is really well located at the edge of the city. Staff were pleasant and helpful, simple but excellent breakfast (croissants are great). Would stay again.

I stayed there for a week! It was a nice hotel, but if you think of how much you pay it could be said that the hotel was great!
The staff is friendly and helpful. Rooms are basic but clean. Breakfast... well, it was just ok, coffee, tea, cornflakes, bread, milk, cheese and ham, croissants and jam.
The situation is very good, just right in the centre of everything.
Taxi from the airport of Bcn to the hotel cost around 70eu.
I would definately stay there again!

Hotel Mediterrani Express was a nice, tidy place to stay. Calella has all ingredients for a holiday stay. Barcelona (fountains, churches, parc Guell) around the corner, some dance clubs, restaurants and shops in direct neighbourhood. Top floor of hotel was renovated which was done with the right materials for a spatious and modern hotel suite. I would recommend this hotel, good value for money. Pool included.

We stayed here in the second week of september 2013 - we booked a package deal last minute, and after trawling trip advisor decided to take a punt. We felt we bagged a great deal as we were just in time for the National Day on the 11th Sept which we didn't know would be happening, but it was a great experience and I would recommend to anyone who is interested in going somewhere to learn about it as well as get a tan.

The hotel is small and clean, and because it was technically the last week of the season, it was quiet, i.e. no kids running around and & brits embarrassing us sane ones. I felt for what we paid we received excellent accommodation, our room looked out onto the pool, which was always empty, and there was no noise from the streets, day or night! (it was still relatively busy so I was amazed you couldn't hear anything)

For the whole week we stayed there I think we only saw one other couple who were in the next room - never heard them through the night and never saw anyone else at the pool, so it felt very peaceful and luxurious in that respect.

The room was actually really big even though I suspect it wasn't one of the newly refurbished rooms, it had charm and felt traditional and well loved, as all the furniture was nice and all worked fine (no cupboards falling apart, or rusty taps, etc). There was a big three door wardrobe recessed into the corner of the room which is the same size as our own at home so we had no problem for storage. we could even keep our luggage in there.

Locality to Calella is pretty much second to none - you're in the centre of the three long shopping streets and you're at the widest part of them so you can have a great walk around and see everything without being really far away from the hotel, at any time. You're also three blocks north from the beach, two blocks south from the carpark where a lot of the excursions leave from (you just have to cross a main highway) and within spitting distance of a lot of great restaurants and tavernas. The nightclub block is also one block west across a main road.

They lock the door at night and a night guard lets you in, he's a nice guy and welcomed us on our first night when we were unsure of what to expect after an hour on a coach from the airport (again we were lucky as we were only the second stop) The people who run the hotel are lovely, very amenable and full of helpful advice if you want it. Similarly, if you want to be left alone they won't pester you.

If like us you're a young couple who are looking to get away and have a bit of peace and quiet, maybe spend a day on the beach then go to Barcelona (it only takes an hour on the train and the station again is about 4 blocks east from the hotel) then mill about, not be too far away from everything but not have to walk for miles, then this is definitely the place for you. I can't say what it might be like in high season but as the place is quite small I can't imagine it loses any of its local 'traditional yet organised' charm.

I booked this as a last minute cheap weekend to add onto our pre planned trip to Barcelona and I didn't expect much for the price we paid. The hotel was fantastic - clean, very well maintained, great facilities and extremely friendly staff (I'd put money on this place being family run, you can tell). We didn't eat breakfast however we did use the bar which was very cheap at E1,50 for a small glass of wine. Calella station is approximately 10-15 minutes walk away and the hotel is in the centre of this beautiful little town with restaurants and shops as well as a supermarket right on the doorstep.

What a gem this place is, literally 5 minutes from the beach, has it's own pools which gets a good amount of shade in the day (god knows you need it in Calella) and the must have, Ar Conditioning. Managed by the ever so nice Paul who is as helpful as he is friendly, you cannot ask for more from a hotel. Sure it's only 2 star, but exactly what do you need from a 4 star hotel in a resort as nice as Calella?

What a brilliant hotel. Beautiful pool area, great for an afternoon dip. Spotlessly clean, beds made every day, the cleaner even folded my sarong that I had left on the bed! Great location, right in the middle of everything and about a 10 min walk to the train station, would definitely recommend a visit to Barcelona. The hotel owner and staff were fantastic, we will definitely be back. Tanks for everything

We first stayed here in 1986 & 87. Had a break and then came back in 1999 with our children aged 5 & 6. We all loved it so much we came back every year until 2008 when we came back without the children, we have been coming every year since and still love it. The hotel is clean and tidy the staff are attentive and polite. The newly refurbished rooms are excellent. The pool is excellent so clean, we often have the pool area to ourselves if 8 people are by the pool we consider it busy! We will be coming back every year for the foreseeable future just love it. Our son aged 21 went back last year and loved it our daughter and her boyfriend will be coming with us next year and they can't wait.

I flew into Girona and paid £30 for a bus transfer, for two of us that’s a return, if you google compare airport transfers, prices are very competitive.

I would say its about 15mins walk from train station very easy to find. Leave train station and go across the road and up to main shopping street turn left and keep going and you will come to the hotel on the left.
