We have just returned from the newly opened hotel maritim after originally booking for the ght balmes which was still closed due to COVID-19- our upgrade was automatic and completely free, the rooms were spacious and extremely clean and although have no kitchen (our original hotel is an aparthotel ) the poolside bar is reasonably priced and does excellent food.
We stayed half board and all food was consistently delicious, they are operating an assisted buffet and a show cooking stand which was better than many restaurants.
We had family rooms which consist of a bedroom with 2 single beds and a main room with both a double and a single bed, all were comfortable, the air con was great in the smaller bedroom but did sometimes struggle with the larger room.
The hotel was understandably quiet and we had no problem securing sun beds by the pool, there are lots of sun beds on the roof too but no shade so not suitable until later in the day for young children, there is also a small indoor pool.
The staff were always helpful and polite and did their best to understand us and our young children through our face masks, always with a smile.
With the threat of coronavirus on all of our minds the hotel had a policy of face masks indoors at all times (except eating) and had lots of hand sanitiser stations that were always full as were the soap dispensers in all toilets.
I would have no hesitation to return here.

Stayed at the GHT Maritim for one week in June. It’s situated just a few minutes walk from the centre of Calella but far enough away not to be disturbed by the many lovely bars, restaurants and tavernas. Overlooking the beach, 10-15 minutes walk from the train station and only 1 hour by train to Barcelona. All of the staff were extremely friendly, our beds were made every day and fresh towels daily if required. We were half board and there was a good, varied selection of food for breakfast and dinner, lunch is available at the poolside bar/restaurant. We would definitely recommend the GHT Maritim for your stay. My only negative would be the shower room - this was a glass screen divider between the bedroom & shower room with no lock on the door which I personally felt lacked privacy but it wouldn’t stop me staying here again. The pool areas were thoroughly cleaned regularly; the rooftop terrace was lovely, clean and peaceful with views over the beach and the indoor pool was extremely tranquil for an early morning swim and with heat therapy beds which were much needed for the aches and pains following our many miles walking around Barcelona!

So the positive is that the rooms have been refurbished and are very nice, including a small fridge which was useful. The buffets food was good and quite varied, enjoyed the cooking station with fresh meat, fish and vegetables every night. The staff were lovely especially Lucia in the dining room. The indoor pool was great when there were only a few people, but one of the reasons we picked this hotel was that there were adult only times, first day we went down at this time and a family a boy they allowed to jump in, splashing others. However the whole experience was completely spoiled by the other guests. Presumably for economic reasons this 4* hotel allowed coach loads of teenage students to stay. It was a nightmare, we were woken every night by shouting, screaming and noise until the early hours. They didn’t wear masks in the reception area or dining room even though the staff asked them to. When they used the pool they ran though reception in wet swim wear with no masks. Sadly we won’t be returning.

We stayed at this hotel with a group of friends as we were attending a wedding nearby. The hotel was just ok, the location suited, nice view from the seaview room, but I woudn't stay again.

No kettle, tea or coffee etc in the room. I bought a small kettle from a nearby shop & the hotel wouldn’t even let me borrow a cup

No iron, not even one available to borrow, there was a large group of us staying at the hotel to attend a wedding nearby & we couldn’t even borrow an iron to iron our wedding outfits.

Air conditioning wasn’t very good, thankfully it wasnt hot at night & we just left the balcony door open to let some cool air in.

2 small bottles of water on arrival, no more after that.

Sullen reception staff, when we checked out she didn’t say a word.

Breakfast not very good, very basic, croissants & pain au chocolate were always burnt.

Spa in need of upgrading, we didn't use as it didn't look very enticing.

Hand gel dispensers around the hotel, most were always empty.

One day we left some euros lying on the bedside cabinet, the cleaner seemed to think it was a tip & took them!!!

Cleaner knocking on the door & coming straight in at 10am on our day of departure. Surely they have a list of the rooms checking out that day and don't come knocking until they know the guest has checked out, or at least give it a minute after knocking before coming straight in!

Rooftop, nice jacuzzi & sun loungers up on the 7th floor but they could do with installing a water fountain or even a vending machine as it’s a long trip down to the ground floor every time you need a drink

This is not a 4 star hotel, possibly a 3 star, there is no service at this hotel at all.

Where do I start….

The biggest problem for us was the air con, the manager sets it to 25 degrees “to save money”. The heat in this place was unbearable, even the staff told us they struggle to work in it.

The food, let’s just say your best bet is to go self catering. The breakfast was okay, it was edible anyway. The evening meal was the worst I have had. Cold, burnt and also undercooked food. Tasteless pile of cheap supplies, we ate out every night, currently attempting to claim compensation for our expenses. The buffet is not child friendly as advertised.

Staff in the restaurant are rude and you will feel very uncomfortable.

There is no kettle in the room, they won’t allow you to take cups, cutlery or anything you could eat and drink with to your room “it is not possible”. And this is still the same when you have a baby.

There is no entertainment, no atmosphere, no animation team, the play area is padlocked and there is no kids club. Basically everything they advertised to mislead you into buying is not there. They didn’t even have currency exchange so we spent a fortune using our cards.

Hotel occupied mainly by teenagers who like a party. Hotel is listed as a family hotel, believe me this is not somewhere you want to take a family.

The beach isn’t as easy to get to as it looks, there is a busy main road and a very loud train ( the train runs till around 12pm and you won’t be able to miss the noise) you have to figure out how to cross the tracks to get to the beach, by the time you’ve done this your physically drained by the heat, so if it’s a beach holiday you want the beach isn’t within close proximity as advertised there is a long way round to each it.

Smoke detectors covered by plastic bags.

Not enough sun loungers for the large amount of guests.

Long wait times for table when eating in the evening. And it’s very hot in reception with the “hot” air con.

Most balcony’s are non existent or a 1 man band. If your lucky enough to get a room at the front with a proper balcony, then your also unlucky as these rooms are south facing and there is no adequate air conditioning.

I would avoid at all costs. I am currently going through legal help, this is an honest review.

Let me start off by saying that the hotel does not even resemble the pictures online the slightest bit. The air-co barely works. We had to turn it down to 12°C for it to feel like 25°C, if we didn’t do this we would have slept in a room that was most-likely even hotter than it was outside. The food is terrible, if you plan on going on here i strongly suggest visiting the restaurants in the area around it because they even manage to ruin some basic fries. The food isn’t properly cooked, half of the stuff is basically raw. Even the fruits tasted sour and bad. The hotel is poorly isolated and you han hear everything that’s going on in the rooms newt to you. This hotel is okay for a stay with teen-organisations but if you are planning a family vacation i suggest you look for another option.

Where to start...
I have the worst experience.
I arrived at 4am problems finding the booking so we were homeless with a 4 years old until 10am even though I showed all the papers with booking confirmation etc.
On 5th night, plaster from the wall fell on my son's head at 1.35am and he had a small cut in his head, the housekeeper Susan was amazing as she change his pillow cover w/ blood and gave him a sweet.
When we got back, tried to complain but their answer was an offer to stay 3 nights there for free (the place where I had the worst experience)
Also stated that the plaster was an accident and nothing they can do about it. (That's why people have insurances, for accidents).
Also a kids service was closed, so actually lying about having the kids club service.
Being homeless for 1 night, kids club not available, the plaster fell off and cut my 3 year old son's head, pretty much a big thing for one week holidays.
The hotel is nice but not family hotel, swimming pool really small and no kids activities. Kids activities in the beach nothing like what they said and the one to go on the train was full for the next week.
The food is amazing and Theresa and other members of staff are really friendly.
The adults only place on the top is nice quiet and really relaxing.
The Spa area small but ok.
The hotel decoration is wonderful.
Housekeeper Susan is the nicest person.
Towels, shampoo and shower gel.
My worst experience and I'm used to travel around the world. The experience could be less stressful if at least they knowledge the bad service and compensate because errors and accidents happen but the way you deal with it says everything.

Stayed here in October 22. Hotel was clean. Rooms are very small but clean. Room had two single beds pushed together instead of a double. No tea/coffee making facilities. Not allowed bring coffee from breakfast area to room. Cleaning staff were excellent and obliging. Room cleaned every day. Spa area and roof top area were fantastic however the sauna was closed. Outside pool is very small. Area is clean but loungers are a bit worn. Best thing about the hotel is the location which is fantastic directly opposite the beach and a short walk to the beautiful old town of Calella. There are also beautiful private beaches a short walk in the oppossite direction. Outside of the cleaning staff the other staff were cold and distant. Breakfast was ok, plenty of variety

Nice hotel very good location nice sunroof with sunbeds and 3 jacuzzis nice bedroom with balcony and sea view. a bit noisy at night meals very basic choice for vegetarians. Vegetables fried on the same plates as meat and fish. Got in trouble for taking out a slice of bread and a slice of cheese. Staff member shouted at me and stopped me at the door. given the fact it was a buffet included in the price i was surprised and shocked to be treated like that. and it spoiled my meals even more after that. Dining room very busy and very noisy. seimming pool ok but quite small

No friendly attitude of staff. Looks like you will do them a favor to checkin in this hotel. 3€ extracharged/day for seif or fridge. Not recommend. If you want to do an early check out they’ll charge you with a penalty of 50% from the daily cost of staying in the hotel.
