We have just returned from a trip to this hotel.
Good points:
Great location
Lovely pool areas with plenty of free sunbeds
Reception/bar area very modern and smart
Prices of drinks at the hotel bar were very reasonable
Staff extremely friendly and helpful
Price paid was very competitive
Weather great

Bad points:
Bedrooms extremely tired and dated. Very small and basic no frills.
Shower was dangerous....temperature (without any adjustment) would suddenly swing from warm to scorching hot
Food in the restaurant very average canteen style....We ate out most nights.
Alot of the restaurants in Calella were unfortunately either closed completely or only opened at the weekend.
Entertainment on an evening dire (for anyone under 65)!
A school is right next door and if you are sat around the pool midweek, and the kids are playing outdoor sporting activities, it can be rather noisy.

Nice break but nothing memorable.

We stayed in the Hotel President for 5 nights whilst we were in Calella for the 2022 Ironman. The hotel is excellent value for money, we paid for half board and the breakfast and dinner was good with a varied range of food, an early breakfast was provided on the day of the Ironman. The rooms are an average size, well maintained and cleaned daily, however they are missing a fridge and kettle. Hotel staff are very friendly and helpful. There is an excellent pool and bar area with good priced drinks. Definitely recommended for anyone staying in Calella!

Great value hotel. Located within a 5-6 minutes walk down to the beach with an underpass for the road. A supermarket directly opposite and an Aldi around 5 minutes away. Lots of nice cafes, independent souvenir shops and what look like bars around too.

The hotel itself is well kept, clean and tidy, entertainment some evenings and the clientele was older - there was a hotel nearby full of teens / louder partying guests so we were glad to have avoided that and chosen a quieter hotel. There is a school located next door but it was only noticeable when kids were on break.

The pool has plenty of loungers even on a busy day, it's not heated but warm enough with a small shallow pool for younger children. There was a lifeguard on duty for most of the day.

The room was small, on first impressions a bit on the older side, but the beds were very comfy (firmer) and the bathroom looked to have recently renovated and was quite smart. There's some storage and a balcony also which was nice to look out over the pool.

The food (full board) was excellent. Not a huge variety but as vegan guests we had varied food each day and were more than happy with the salads (both mixed and separated) and the good selection of fruits. Lots of cooked hot meat dishes and sliced meats & hams, also lots of fish including some HUGE prawns! The coffee was nice in the morning and they had Soya / Oat milk available on request. Drinks not included at noon or in the evening but they were well priced.

Would definitely return and recommend.

Exceptionally friendly and helpful staff, a credit to this hotel. Very clean everywhere. There are 3 lifts. Our room had twin beds, air con, a TV, a safe which was 3 euros a day but always worth it for me. Wardrobe had coat hangers and shelves. Bathroom was very clean with a shower. Some toiletries provided in sachets and a hairdryer screwed to the wall. Balcony with table and chairs and a pool view. Pool area nice and every morning it is pressure washed as are all the sunbeds. Individual umbrellas that sit in a hole in your sunbed. There is a pool bar and outside toilets that were immaculate. . Nice mix of nationalities with a very relaxed atmosphere. If you want English back bacon and sausage then this is not for you, however if you want a selection of fresh and tasty food then you will be fine. Drinks were reasonably priced and trolleys are pushed round the restaurant for you to purchase with your meal. Sparkling water was 1.40, soft drinks and bottled beer 2 euros. A large beer was 3 euros at the bar. There is entertainment in the evening although we did not really sample this. Our transfer was early morning and the reception staff made sure there was some breakfast for us at 05.30 am as we were full board, and if you are out for the day they will provide a packed lunch. There are hundreds of shops in Calella and you can easily catch the train. We went to Barcelona and a return ticket was 11 Euros. There is a massive supermarket a few minutes walk away and plenty of bars as well in the area. Thankyou Hotel President for a lovely stay.

I should start off by saying we loved our stay in hotel President, ALL the staff are amazing and are exceptional in helping you out 👏🏽👏🏽. The room was basic ..no frills and no fridge in room, you can rent a safe deposit box for €3 a day. Spotless clean, bedding and towels changed every day. Our room was above the entrance, this side only get the sun on the balcony in the mornings so if you want the sun afternoons -evenings ask for sea view or pool view. Plenty sun beds and parasols provided at the pool. The food in general was excellent, couldn’t fault it, great variety, and well presented…..we were there for 9days and didn’t find it repetitive. The food alone would make me choose to go back to this hotel. We were leaving at 5.30am and they even supplied us with a breakfast at 4.30am 👏🏽 amazing. We were half board so I can’t comment on lunch but I’d be sure it wouldn’t disappoint. The entertainment at the hotel was great I don’t usually go watch this on this occasion I’m glad I did also the bar prices in the hotel make it very attractive to enjoy the hotel facilities more…..☕️€1.50 🍷€1.50 small 🍺 €2 large 🍺 €3 and cocktails 🍹 all €4.20 . There seemed to be lots of guests who return to the hotel regularly, you can see the personal welcome they get from the staff on arrival..lovely touch. I don’t think this hotel would be suitable for young party goers as it’s geared more to all the other genres.

Stayed at the Hotel President at the start of Oct.

The hotel is very clean and bright, i arrived early and a room was found for me which was a bonus. Basic room but cleaned every day with fresh towels which is all you need. Stayed on a Half Board basis and the food was very good, i have been called a fussy eater but most nights i was going up for 2nds as it was that nice. Bar prices very good, 3 euros for a large beer was cheaper than most of the bars i visited in Calella.

The hotel is in a great position for exploring the Costa Brava, train station is appox 25mins walk with a pleasant walk along the prom which is about 5mins away. Barcelona one way and other towns the other way Lloret de Mar is about an hour away via the train to Blanes.

I will probably stay at the hotel again next year, the staff are great and the thing i did enjoy was in the afternoon the gardens and pool area was basking in sunshine, plenty of sunbeds and perfect for chilling out with a beer after exploring the area,

We were for the second time in the President. From last year the hotel worked on facelift for a bit (painted outside/inside, change linens etc.). We are very satisfied and would like to highlight that the great value of this hotel is their staff. Good work and thank you for commitment and hard work 👏. I hope we see again.

Great value for money.

Good points

: staff are all lovely and friendly
:location is good
:nice pool area
: food very good for this price

Things that need a quick look at the tempreture of the water can go from normal to scolding by simply touching the water leaver.it really needs to be sorted

The mattress was very rigid

The lack of REAL espresso coffee at the breakfast( the bar opens at 9 am and has great espresso)

No fridge in the room

I was charged 2 euro to use the iron

The safe in the room has also to be paid for

I still really like this hotel and would go back in future

I would love to see the option of a superior room with a better mattress and an espresso machine and fridge for a few euro extra per day

Fantastic place. Very clean. Food great. Staff so helpful. Myself and my husband stayed for 7 nights as doing the Ironman Barcelona and it was a perfect location. Could not fault anything at all. We asked for more pillows for the bed as only one each and we got them more or less straight away. Cleaners cleaned room daily and the whole hotel was spotless. Would highly recommend!

Great hotel, much better than some 4 star hotels I have stayed in. Compliments to the chef, I have never come across tender cooked meat like it in any hotel. The old town, with it’s bustling, never ending, street of lovely shops is amazing. Wonderful atmosphere, lots of cafes and delicious ice cream shops. Great place to be. There was a 3 day festival going on which we enjoyed immensely. Lovely to see everyone from all backgrounds come together and enjoy all on offer. I would definitely recommend this hotel and all Calella has to offer.
