The hotel is situated right on the front of Calella and just a few steps to the old town where you can wander in true Spain, On entry it looks modern and new and very clean. We asked for a room with a shower as we both have accessible issues and we were given a very small room on the 4th floor which really smelled of drains. The cleaners put some disinfectant but this did not cure the problem and I was feeling quite ill. We asked to be moved but this was not possible straight away so we suffered for a couple of nights. Eventually and with the help of the Jet2 rep we were moved to a from=nt facing room which was much better and cleaner. The rooms are dated and the hotel rooms could do with an upgrade.

We stayed on a half board basis and were so glad we hadn't gone on the all inclusive basis as it is a small hotel and food choice was limited. Breakfast was good although the egg chef was the slowest in the world but the evening meal was very hit and miss and often the buffet was cold. We dis not like the strict times they gave you too as we like to eat to our choice not the hotels.

On the plus side the roof pool is a lovely area and it is a great base for exploring the town. Some of the staff are great too. I am coeliac so need gluten free food and Anna in the morning brought me gf bread and other lovely things with a smile and sometimes a hug. The chef sometimes could come out and help me choose but labels would have helped stating the ingredients. He did do me gf pizza a couple of times too.

Drinks were reasonably priced too and the bars staff very helpful. The hotel need a visible manager overall who get the staff working as some were running around whilst others did vert little;

We will definitely be returning to Calella but unfortunately not this hotel.

The hotel is basic , clean and the food is average.
We were told we could keep our all inclusive until 6pm by a young receptionist with long dark hair.
Both my friends paid £50 extra to keep their rooms, ours was not available due to booking. My friends also couldn't have drinks etc, after paying. Diabolical.
As soon as we handed in our key the fair haired receptionist was there with scissors to remove our bands. She said we couldn't use any facilities or have any water etc. We were all told we could. We arrived late on the 11th so didn't have lunch or evening meal, we went out everyday for meals so we didn't milk it. We also bought the premium drinks, subsidising the hotel.
Very sad to be treated this way being told one thing and then being addressed to like criminals.
We came to this hotel April 2019 and we loved it, shame the reception staff now are not as friendly and Professional.

Booked a cheap week’s B and B via Jet2 so knew this hotel wasn’t 5*. Nevertheless we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Yes the rooms are a little dated and the pool area isn’t really set up for sun worshippers but , as stated in various signs around the hotel, parasols on the roof might be a bit of a hazard, it was often quite breezy up there. The pool itself was lovely, perfect for a swim . Our room had a balcony overlooking the neighbouring streets, which aren’t always picturesque but ours had sun most of the afternoon. Sheets and towels were immaculate and changed several times during our stay, staff were great, breakfast had plenty of choice and dining area kept clean and tidy. Bar wasn’t expensive and entertainment a couple of nights we were there was fun. Perfectly positioned near the beach , accessed by the underpass or a crossing, plenty of free parking on the beach if you had a car, but only cost 3.20 € for a day in public car parks. Lots of great restaurants nearby. We had a fabulous time

This was the perfect hotel for my trip. The rooms are basic and sparsely furnished, but very clean, with crisp bedding and a good shower. A balcony provided some outdoor space for drying towels and swimwear, with views over sea and a bit of the town. There was some noise from neighbouring rooms at times, but nothing unmanageable. The location is unbeatable. In front of the hotel, just across the train tracks, is a beautiful beach with great bar options. A few minutes’ walk along the street and you’re at the station, from where it’s EUR11 for a return ticket to Barcelona, with trains every half hour, taking just under an hour to the city. Walk up the side streets next to the hotel and you are immediately in the quaint, pedestrianised old town of Calella with plenty bars, restaurants and shops. Breakfast at the hotel itself offered plenty of choice, from cooked options to pastries and fruit, with as much strong, hot coffee as you’d like.
I used this hotel mainly as a base to visit a friend in Barcelona. Having stayed in the city itself on previous occasions, I wanted to try somewhere a bit different up the coast. Calella definitely delivered.

This hotel was absolutely stunning and in the perfect location for a relaxing getaway in a traditional Spanish community.
Staff were fantastic, extremely welcoming to myself and my infant!
The room was standard with a balcony and a shower, had tv and air conditioning and a hair drier. I did get a peep of one of the larger (and I guess more expensive) rooms which looked lovely at a glance!
Noise was a little issue on a couple of the nights but with earplugs I’m sure this would be fine.
The food was fantastic with a wide range of choice at breakfast, lunch and dinner (my favourite was the seafood paella!)
The rooftop/pool area was stunning with endless views, a limited amount of sunbeds/chairs but never a struggle to find somewhere to sit - (opens at 10 so no one can claim beds super early I imagine) one minor issue (if not AI) is that you are unable to pay for drinks at the roof bar and instead have to travel to the ground floor to purchase drink tickets to then redeem your drinks at the rooftop bar.
Hotel is located right on the beach front, which offers loungers, brollies and a nice beach bar which serves great food, and is just a short walk (2-3min walk) from the centre which we would take a stroll through most days.
Also for the kebab lovers/foodies, I would highly recommend getting a doner kebab from the little kebab shop just around the corner from the hotel (next to Jordi’s bar) if you are passing and hungry, absolutely beautiful!
Overall a wonderful stay for myself and my little girl, perfect for a quiet getaway either staying in and around the hotel or venturing out a little to explore. Will definitely be returning to see what else Calella has to offer 🌞

This hotel is extremely cheap for calella in July…
As expected the room was basic but very usable, we go to calella all the time as we love the town and beach, this hotel is right on the beach so we thought we would try it.

The bad:
The pool is on the roof but it’s very small, 99% of people go to the beach as it’s miles long and clean. The hotel bar downstairs is good but expensive, the food at breakfast isn’t great either.

The good:
The hotel is clean, the balcony’s with the rooms are huge and well equipped.
Air con was great, calella has some brilliant restaurants and they cost very little.
The hotels position is perfect, to its front you are 10m from a beach, to it’s rear is the Main Street of 800+ shops. We will be going to this hotel again as it provides a base for a trip to calella for very little money.

Thank you for sharing your review of the hotel. It's great to know that you found an affordable option in a convenient location in Calella. While the room was basic, it proved functional, and you enjoyed amenities like the air conditioning and the spacious balcony. I understand that the small rooftop pool was a letdown compared to the extensive nearby beach. Additionally, you appreciate the hotel's proximity to the beach and shops, though you find the bar expensive and the breakfast could be better. Your feedback provides valuable insights for future travelers.

We arrived late around 12/1 am checked in and went striaght up to our rooms within 10mins the guy at reception with a moody attitude knocks saying where too loud and we would have to leave if it carries on we asked other guests the next day no one heard us coming into the hotel which explains itself not the welcome we expected just arriving there. The hotel is nice but the views from the back are not there alls we could see where builders and broken walls even into the distance we couldn’t see anything as there’s an old hotel in the way the roof top pool is a nice little place but the bar didn’t open once and the jacuzzi was taped of and filthy so you couldn’t use it over I wouldn’t stay again just going off the receptionist welcoming us like that. We stayed not far from there and they atleast smiles there team don’t like smiling all miserable

We appreciate your comment. Regarding the receptionist, they were simply doing their job, which is to ensure the well-being of all guests. At those late hours of the night, guests are typically resting, and any noise can be disruptive. We understand your concerns about the views from the back of the hotel and the condition of the rooftop facilities. We are actively working on improving these aspects to enhance our guests' experience. Thank you!

This hotel has a fantastic beachfront location in a quiet and attractive area close to shops and the other attractions of Calella. There is a train line in front of the hotel but it didn't disturb us. Our standard room was basic but spotlessly clean with excellent air conditioning. We stayed half board and managed to find something we liked at every meal. The breakfast omelettes and bakery items were particularly good. Staff were nice and helpful and overall we really enjoyed the quiet, relaxed atmosphere of the hotel. Thank you Hotel Espanya - we'll definitely be back next year 😀

I go on holiday every year with a pal. We tend to go for middle of the road to cheap places as we aren't fussy.
This hotel is great, if you aren't fussy.
The hotel is a nice medium sized hotel directly opposite the beach within easy walking distance of the train station. The train tracks run between the hotel and the beach with plenty of crossing points and underpasses.
I didn't notice the train noise during the night in the room.
Reception and all public areas were spotlessly clean with a sheltered bar seating area. Some fans would have been nice in this area as it was surrounded by walls so no breeze.
The room was compact but with ample space for clothes etc. Two reasonably comfortable single beds however after 10 nights they seemed quite hard and the pillows were small and strangely narrow.
The bathroom was a good size with a full bath and a powerful shower, shower curtain not a screen but this was okay.
Balcony was small but enough for two and somewhere for my pal to smoke.
Ac in the room worked well and could make the room too cold.
Room cleaned daily and cleaned well.
Calella is a bit quiet for us so we won't go back but I would recommend this hotel if you are going.

Incredibly disappointing for the price paid compared to other hotels nearby. Rooms dated & only 1 plug (under the tv) in the whole room?! No balcony and train going right past the window regularly which woke us several times at night and in the morning. Pool bar was never open while we were there - had to go down 6 floors to the bar & asked to pay 2 euro deposit for glasses. Weird. Pool was nice and beautiful view but only 8 sun loungers available. Staff were fine but not overly friendly. Evening entertainment was poor and non-existent atmosphere in the bar. Breakfast was fine but having to pick a time slot is kind of annoying.

Hotel is close to the beach which is handy but beware bus transfers leave you off at least 10 minutes from the hotel.
