Just returned from a little 5 night stay at the Miami hotel in Calella, me and my husband (age 36) never been before and probably no real reason not to go back in the future.
The hotel is quite small (approx 70 rooms) and very small pool (the photos are deceiving), but its adequate enough. I read some of the reviews before about noisy guests and the very little sleep they had - well, i'm a really light sleeper and never heard a thing. We had a room the 2nd floor which over looked the road and the only noise i heard was from the odd car that went past. However there where lots of young people in the hotel, but as the hotel isn't english (we never heard another english voice in the hotel, thought we were the only english) these kids are from a totally different culture and are NOT like the 18-30's we get here, there were no idiots running round, spitting, shouting or being generally loutish, they just sat around sunbathing and talking to each other - not a problem at all.
Air Con in all rooms.
The only gripe we had about the hotel is...... the buffet at tea time isn't self service, the staff dish the food out to you and with them all speaking spanish sometimes it's a bit difficult and your given an alloted time when you can go for tea, ours was 8.30pm - we where starving by this time.
The Breakfast is prodominantly continental but they do have bacon & sausages on.
The rooms are small but adequate and spotless.
The beach is really nice and about a 10min walk, cost us 8 euro for two sunbeds, which i think is very cheap, been to some places where we've been charged 20 euros.
The resort of Calella is nice, there is a long strip of shops, bars and cafes etc which runs the whole length of the resort (similar to the Rambles, if you've been to Barcelona) which takes a good 1/2hr to walk down.
There is a train station at the bottom of the road which can take you straight to Barcelona, trains are every 15mins.
This is a spanish resort, you'll be lucky to hear another english voice, if thats ok with you (it was with us) - go ahead and book it.
The plus side of it being spanish - no one bothers you, no touts trying to get you in bars, no waiters chaising you down the street with a menu - nothing, they just let you get on with it.

We have just returned from this hotel which was very good for the price. The staff are outstanding especially Pedro and Josef and the young girl behind the bar. The hotel is spotless and the food is adequate. The only bad thing I would say is I was room 526 and there were three of us in the room and the balcony was so small you couldn't sit out on it and had room for 1 chair. When there is 3 people staying in the room there should be adequate space for 3 people. The resort itself is poor absolutely nothing to do unless you head to Barcelona or Pineda. Jet Ski were 90 euro for 30 minutes which I though was quite expensive.
All in all a good holiday but 10 days was long enough. If you put the hotel somewhere else a little bit busier it would be outstanding.

First off as a TL;DR, ill summaries mine and my partners opinion on the hotel with pros and cons and give more details further down in the review for anyone looking for specific details.

Pros:
Very Clean
Great Location
Most* Staff were very friendly and helpful throughout the stay
Food was of a acceptable quality
All inclusive package was quite good

Cons:
Very very very poor internet (limited range (no connection in room), slow even in reception, limited amount of devices allowed connection)
Busy/Small Pool, hotel caters to sports teams so can expect large groups of people
Only 1 English TV channel (not a huge con if you don't speak English or watch TV!)
Some staff were unhelpful
All inclusive ends at 10:30PM which is early in comparison to similar hotels

--------------------------------------------

Me and my partner were booked up for 1 week stay in May All Inclusive, with the price (including flights, luggage, transfers etc) being £376 each. We feel that the hotel more than offered value for money in this regard, having stayed at more expensive resorts in an All Inclusive Program previously and having less value for money.

1. The All Inclusive Program

The All Inclusive (AI) program is pretty typical. You are greeted in check-in with a band which identify's you as being an All Inclusive resident for that week. With 1 small difference, that being the "ECO Card" system, which is used to help (what I assumed) lower costs on washing/replacing glasses for drinks. Basically the system works in that each member of the AI gets a card, and when they get a glass for a drink, they trade the card for the glass, when they come back to the bar, they can trade the glass back for there card (if they're leaving the hotel for example) or for another drink. This was pretty painless, although it was something new to me and my partner.

The food in the AI was reasonable. Most nights there was a type of grilled meat (chicken, pork chops, burgers etc), a pasta, a fish, a soup/condiment, tons of salad and desert (fresh fruit, ice creams, cakes). Every meal they had fresh little bread loafs (which I can only assume were purchased from a local bakery) which me and my partner could have eaten alone with how great they were. I won't lie and say the food is fantastic and everyone will enjoy it, but if the best food in the world is a 10/10, then the food here is probably a 5/10. Not to say that its bad, just that to expect Gordon Ramsay to cook your dinner for the price is unreasonable. Again though, the food was in our opinions quite good, I never starved or thought any of it was poor in any way.

A con to the AI is that it ends at 10:30PM, which means drinks need to be had quite sharp and time for exploring the region is harder. I have no idea how much the charge was for food if you weren't AI. Outside of meal times, the bar offers sandwiches and toasties (as well as some cakes/pastries and ice cream) which again in our opinion were very good.

2. The Location

The Location of the hotel is ideal. Plenty of shops, supermarkets, and anything you can want is in the old town of Calella. The hotel is a 5 min walk to the train station, where you can (at the time of our trip) get a round-trip journey to Barcelona for 10 euro each. We ate out once at our time at the hotel, and the food was very good.

3. The Staff

The staff for a majority were very very friendly and helpful (particularly Pedro the Barman! - Legend!!) with the cleaning staff doing a fantastic job with a spotless hotel. On our trip there was 2 mix-up about our check-out time and our transfers, in which that check-out is 10am of the day you check out, but our flight was very early in the morning and we were told we needed to check-out at 10am on the Tuesday when our transfer was at 2am on the Wednesday (14 hours difference). The staff member in question (a receptionist) didn't seem to understand what I was saying very well, I don't speak Spanish so the language barrier was likely an issue, and we were told we had to check out. We packed all night and got up early feeling very hard done by but accepting the rules, only to have which I can only assume was the Hotel Manager correct the mistake of the receptionist and tell us we had the room for another full day. The manager couldn't have been more apologetic to the situation, and we were just glad we could get some sleep in a bed before our flight!. The other slight miscommunication was our shuttle transfer was a 2 min walk away from the hotel, and it wasn't really highlighted to us where to go, with Google Maps being our only real indication on where to go. Again this isn't so much as an issue as much as an observation. As a whole, I would rate the staff a 8.5/10, I felt the customer service and friendliness of the staff was very good.

4. Any Other Information

As mentioned in the cons, the Wi-Fi, is seriously seriously poor. Considering we visited in 2018, I would date the coverage of the Wi-Fi and the access speeds to pre-2010 levels. For a couple of 100 euros the hotel could significantly improve this and it would make a serious difference to many travelers at the hotel. Another con was the 1 English TV channel (that channel being Nickelodeon Austria - even BBC News didn't work). This again could be improved (although we were rarely in the room, it could have been nice to have atleast a news channel!) The TV in our room was mounted on a tight wall bracket preventing anyone travelling with a media player (Chromecast, Firestick etc) to even use the TV for that, not that the pre-historic internet would have supported it anyway. This is another thing that could be improved, particularly for visitors that are bound in the room due to weather etc.

The hotel and pool are beautiful! The rooms are too small. And if you are used to a good bed, then this is not the right place, unfortunately! You get sore in the body, and no soft support. There is a lot of noise from the other rooms, you can hear people pulling out chairs. Unfortunately, we live a bit towards the city and there is a grate that the cars drive up on and it is annoyingly noisy

We stayed at this hotel in july, there was my husband myself and two children aged 6 and 1. We were the only english in the hotel which made it difficult for the 6 year old, the appartments across the road was much beter some english in there and the pool was much nicer. We stayed at the hotel on a full boared basis but only eat there about three times the food was not good so if you are thinking of booking at this hotel i would consider looking at the miami park appartments across the road.

We didn't like this hotel. We got a really bad service, we found a bean in the room and when we noticed that to the personal they were laughing in front of us, so we got realy angry. We think this hotel should have 1 star and not 3, then the hotel would have a better quality/price relationship. We went to Calella with a group and some people were located in Miami Hotel and the others were located in Aparthotel Miami Park; both hotels are directed by the same people and both hotels are situated next to the other one.The other people in Aparthotel Miami Park had the same experience, so I writed this review in both hotels to help users to choose their hotel and improve the quality of the services, that's this site main function.

Response from TommyOZ14, Gerente at Miami Hotel

Dear YourAdvisor88, Thank you so much for taking the time to provide us with some feedback regarding your stay with us. I am so sorry about this late reply, but we are new at replying on TripAdvisor and other sites. Receive also my most sincere apologies but I can not remember your case. I have been checking our data base, guest by guest, since I first read your comment last October, and I have no idea about a Finnish group staying some with us and some others at the ApartHotel MiamiPark last August, or the whole last summer. Anyway, your case is very strange and I do doubt about your TripAdvisor profile and your experience within us. Starting from the beginning, I am the Manager, and I will not accept any anonymous comment that can damage the reality of our Hotel. You can contact me personally at the following email so I can follow your case up: hotelmiami@hotelmiamicalella.com. The staff and I know we are a budget 3stars hotel in Calella, and we are conscious there are many things we can improve, but we all try everyday to do our best to help each and every guest in their holidays, which my personal goal every morning. I should add, the management of both establishments is completely different and independent, I do not know where did you got that wrong information. Finally, this site main function is to describe real experiences, not lies. You have my personal e-mail if you want to discuss your case personally. I am open to apologize if your case did happen. Kind regards, Tomas Mallol Manager

Spend a little time here with my children. Hotel very clean, food tasty and plenty of room in the public area to sit and enjoy. But a real treasure of this place is every single member of staff. They make you feel like you’re the most important guest in here. Very helpful and kind.

we booked this holiday quite late and decided not to look at reviews first. im so glad we did as some of the reviews might have put us off! it was my granddaughters first trip abroad and her and my daughter and me loved it. the hotel miami was spotless welcoming and very central.the staff could not have been more friendly. we were the only english speaking guests that we could see but that was not a problem to us. a smile translates to all languages, the food was lovely and lots of choices. the staff were lovely to us perhaps because we were polite to them unlike other guests! the lovely lady who served our drinks in the day was so nice my grandaughter had a tear when we said goodbye and thanked her for her service, she hugged us and made us feel very special.i would go back again.

After having read all the good reviews about this hotel, i was really disappointed after staying there. The hotel was full of young arrogant German teenagers who did nothing but run around and cause disruption all night, banging on doors and shouting and screaming. The buffet style breakfast, which costs 13 euros for 2, consisted of cold sausages, cold eggs, burnt tomatoes, and watered down orange juice. There were no plates or cups on arrival, and after i had tried to eat the food, a fresh batch of bacon arrived, too late!!!! As for the view from our balcony, it was great if you were into cranes and concrete! This was supposed to be in the top 5 hotels of the area, god knows what the rest must be like, DON'T STAY HERE!!!!!!
