Travellers' Choice

Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

This is a very special, family-run hotel that provides a perfect base for exploring the beautiful Engadin and Bergell valleys. Oria and Marcello are incredibly gracious, relaxed, engaged and fun. They both speak German, Italian, French and English. The staff is incredibly friendly. The facilities are clean and well thought out. The sauna is a welcome touch after hours of walking/hiking. The breakfast is hearty and varied. The quality was super, and included many local delights (especially the cheese, yogurt and honey). There was something for everyone. Dinner was lovely. We chose the 1/2 board and each course was delightful. I would highly recommend and will look forward to returning for another visit soon.

It was a wonderful start of our Inntal-biketour. A warm, very personal welcome by the very, very nice owners of the hotel. A calm, best equipped room with a wonderful view to the mountains. Breakfast with everything you need to start in your day. A perfect dinner with a fine wine recommendation. We enjoyed our staying in this hotel very very much and will return again with friends or familiy. Thank you so much!

Wonderful discovery, didn't know the place before! Spent splendid days in Engadin in the charming and family run Maloja Kulm hotel, great personal hospitality, marvellous cuisine. You notice the taste for art and details in all aspects, from the dinner plate to the paintings on the walls, from the knick-knacks in the book shelf to the give-aways upon check-out. Very special and unique idea: hallways "decorated" with second hand clothes for sale at a "symbolic price", proceeds go to a social cause.

Oria and Marcello did organise everything for us, rooms, special menu (incl. veggie), visits, train, old bus and boat reservations, ceremony. Both are German, Italian, French and English speaking. It was amazing. The location is ideal for wandering in summer as well as in winter. Easy to reach even when you have no cars. Such a lovely place. You really feel like home.

... and an amazing restaurant (going for the set menu at dinnertime is recommended). Most importantly one just feels nice & comfortable at the place thanks to the hosts & professional staff. We've been at the hotel both in Summer & Winter - Summer is great for hiking, either starting out at the hotel or by making use of the free public transport options (which btw. bring you down to Chiavenna or over to S. Moritz, Bernina pass ...) first. In Winter it provides an excellent starting point for cross country skiing. Also great for art lovers - Maloja was the last home of Giovanni Segantini and one can visit his "atelier" (well, he mostly painted in the nature) and learn about his life and the family (Bugatti - Segantini ...) from a great(?)-granddaughter, before taking the Bus to St. Moritz for the Segantini museum. And then go to Stampa/Bondo for the Giacomettis and Varlin.

We’ve been to the Maloja Klum hotel a few times over the last 2 years and it honestly just gets better and better. How do you improve on perfection? We don’t know … because it is all just so perfect. The service is always with a smile … the managers, restaurant staff etc … are just wonderful. Professional and just a lovely lovely team of people who work very hard. We always feel so well looked after… the meals are just stupendously delicious… a perfect combination of taste and visual heaven created with passion. The chef is amazing! The rooms are all different and each time we visit we have a very comfortable room a good nights sleep. The Nordic ski track is just a few steps away and the buses run frequently if you want to go into St.Moritz . Everything is just heaven..we’ll be back again. Thank you to everyone at the Maloja Klum hotel for making our stay with you so enjoyable.

At the gate of the beautiful Engadin, a very nice, well kept and recently renovated hotel. A piece of history at a fascinating location. Staff is very friendly and welcoming. Personally, the service at the restaurant could be improved unless you like to sit at your table for a couple of hours for the full course menu. Overall highly recommended place to stay in one of the most beautiful place on earth

The Hotel is situated right at the top of Maloja Pass, ideal access door to the famous Engadin, in a marvellous landscape. The house, originally from 17Th century, had been freshly renovated and re-opened after many years last summer 2019. We went there end of October 2019 and had a great dinner and a very calm and relaxing night after having enjoyed the small and very attractive Sauna/Spa with marvellous view to the mountains. This was the experience with the whole family. We went there a second time by the end of November 2019 for a couple weekend, but hotel was closed. A letter outside the door was informing that the hotel had to sit for winter season 2019/2020 due to bankrupt of the german tenant Sascha Gallinat’s company 3MS Hotel Collection. But it will be reopened with another tenant begin June 2020. Peaty for our planned weekend, but we can't wait for the reopening and look forward to spend there our summer vacations with the whole family !
