Booked a meal for two and was impressed from the moment we entered. Great social distancing, we were seated in the bar area where only two other people dined.
I had the best steak in a long time, cooked to perfection, my husband a super portion of fish and chips. Little touches like proper linen napkins and a bottle of fresh spring water made it the perfect experience.

A one night stay for work purposes in Blackburn. The Millstone could not have tried harder to create a welcoming ambience with a contemporary feel in the rooms and in the restaurant. There is everything you would want and more in the bedrooms and the restaurant offers a wide ranging and reasonably priced menu. This hotel has really put high quality customer service at the forefront.

We really felt welcome at this hotel & the bar area had a lovely atmosphere when we entered.. We had travelled from the southwest for a family gathering on the Sunday. Mellor is a quiet & pleasant Lancashire village & this public house is the Thwaites flagship establishment with a sense of pride which comes across with the attentive staff.

On arrival we were quite weary & looking forward to our dinner so we went directly to our ground floor room (23) along the corridor & instead of showering decided to head back to the bar as the room was a bit cold. It was a smart clean room with a lovely Hypnos bed but if you want a bright room with a view it wouldn’t suit you. The bathroom was simple, spotless with a not very powerful rain shower & hand shower attachment. A very charming member of staff came over to us after I mentioned the chill in room & put a heater in for us whilst we were having a drink in the bar. He mentioned something about an engineer coming. Dinner was lovely with friendly service staff. If I book again I’ll ask for a table in the main bit of the restaurant where there looked to be more atmosphere. We got a dinner b&b rate for £135 for the night & it was worth every penny .. great food & super breakfast! For a last minute it was a lucky find on a busy Saturday & we will stay again but would hope for an upper floor room with a more modern bathroom .. need a stronger shower please.. Just one more thing which isn’t anything against the meticulous cleaning that obviously takes place here but the strong smell of disinfectant in the bedroom reminded me a lot of my late mothers care home & it lingered even after I opened the window so not sure what happened here? Maybe just an association I have but it affected my enjoyment a bit. Lovely checkout & a great team of people keeping this place popular. As I said we will return whenever we are visiting our friends & family in the North as it’s the nicest food, service & comfort we’ve ever had in the area & we’ve stayed at a lot of places ! 👏👏

As always, the food here is incredible and the short shut down has done nothing to impact quality or service.

Because the standard here is so high, we expected the Covid-19 precautions to be on-par with other restaurants at this level in the Ribble Valley. We were disappointed and a little surprised.

Although there are hand sanitising stations everywhere in the pub and restaurant and masks are provided to diners for free, the staff handle your drinks and lean over you to place them on the table and clear away. None of them are wearing masks or visors and they get well within a metre of you. They also place people at the table next to you rather than spreading diners out to optimise social distancing.

All of the other restaurants we have visited spread diners out, ensure the staff wear masks or visors (the Parkers Arms’ staff have masks and visors on) and do not touch your cutlery or glasses once they have been put on a tray. You are invited to pick them up from the tray yourselves.

We would not recommend this place to our parents (in their 70s and total foodies) because they are Covid vulnerable, and we would not recommend it to anyone conscious of being careful at the moment.

However, if you take a more relaxed approach to risk, then the food here is stunning and this makes it worth a visit.

This is a beautiful hotel, in a village location, tastefully decorated with comfortable rooms and friendly staff. Lovely little home made biscuits in your room and a flask of fresh milk offered on arrival for your tea and coffee. A most enjoyable stay.

We've just spent two days here for our Anniversary and were very impressed with the Hotel and the staff. The restaurant served some excellent food both for breakfast and dinner. Mellor is only a small village and there are some lovely walks in the area and it is ideally placed to reach Blackburn and Clitheroe.

We stayed in the annexe which is very modern and felt like it had been recently decorated. The only point to be aware of is the room we stayed in (234) was next to the road through Mellor which seemed like it should be quiet but was actually quite busy, this wasn't a problem with the windows closed but because it was hot we had them opened and did get some traffic noise first thing in the morning. There was a fan in the room to help keep it cool if you chose to keep the windows closed on hot days. This didn't spoil the stay but just something to be aware of.

All in all a lovely stay and would recommend the Hotel and restaurant.

Having stayed in York for 3 nights we made a surprise 1 night stop off to Blackburn to visit friends and booked into this hotel. We were advised booking in was 3 pm but had arrived quicker than expected at 1pm so our room was not ready we asked if we could just drop our bag and the lovely lady said she would check, she returned to advise our room would be ready within 20 mins so we sat down and enjoyed a drink from the bar, within 15 mins we were in our room which was AMAZING and way exceeded our expectations. The room felt like a little world of luxury. The bed was super comfy and the provision of Horlicks galaxy hot chocolate and fresh bottled water were lovely touches. Breakfast was super organised and delicious anybody complaining has to be super fussy we could not fault the service or choice of menu. The best attribute of this little gem is the staff , everybody we encountered was super friendly always happy to chat and smile ensuring that your stay is perfect in every way. We will most definitely return to this little gem but next time for a longer visit as one night was simply not enough

We recently stayed Friday and Saturday night with a big family meal on the Saturday lunchtime. The Millstone is a country pub that has been tastefully modernised. The bedrooms are a good size and decorated beautifully. At breakfast there was a great choice of both continental plus a hot menu. The evening food was superb. The staff were friendly. The addition of the residence lounge on the first floor was a bonus for our group and the staff allowed us to take drinks upstairs. Overall I would recommend this pub for both food and accommodation.

I really love this hotel. The service, the cosy rooms, the 5 star food quality, the beautiful beer and overall the fantastic warm service make this my go to place when I stay for work in the North West. It is hard to describe how brilliant the food is, I feel like a member of the family when I check is because the staff are all so lovely. I stayed for two nights last week and must say the work they have done to make the Millstone 'Covid Safe' is first class, very professional yet they have managed to retain the warm service standard and great quality rooms and food. Thank you all at the Millstone, already looking forward to my next visit! (PS - best onion rings on Earth available here!)

This is a great little hotel in a quiet picturesque village. Very high standard of fittings in the rooms, amazing staff and great evening meal. Would highly recommend this hotel if you are thinking of a stop off before the lakes or the dales. We stayed in room 42 which was very spacious with walk in rainfall shower great water pressure also.
