Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

I absolutely loved staying in this wonderful hotel. It's a fabulous historic building. Lovely helpful staff, many who have been there for years, which says a lot! Amazing extensive grounds so you feel right in the countryside. Nice touches like home made short bread and fudge in the rooms, and a proper coffee maker and ironing board. The food in the restaurant is tip top - we had both dinner and an extensive breakfast. This is for people that appreciate independent hotels with their charm and quirkiness. Nothing is too much trouble. My two small well behaved dogs were welcomed with open arms and thoroughly enjoyed the giant chess set, taking on the role of the black Queen and Bishop, as those 2 pieces were missing! We chose it initially with its proximity to the end of the Northern Line at Edgware, and a 10-15 min taxi ride would take you to Edgware. Much nicer to be in the country air when visiting London than in a polluted boring chain hotel further towards the centre of London!!

My husband stays here regularly for work and he always has a comfortable stay. We were lucky enough to have an upgrade to the Mayfair suite last week....wow!!! What a stunning room. We had a delicious breakfast too. Thank you to Jo on reception.

We love staying here. Guaranteed good night’s sleep tasty food with their new chef . Nothing is never an issue . We should know as we are rather fussy . They value the customers . And in turn we will always return and support them . Still near to the M25 not far from London and main railway link sitting in beautiful gardens

we had a wonderful experience staying at this magnificent hotel, our room overlooking the Garden, super comfortable, clean and fragrant, friendly staff and what a tranquility and obliging, beautiful place, but what impressed me most was the restaurant, the friendliness of the staff Chef Diogo Cardoso, his service is unique, without a doubt the best chef I know, and when I talk about the food he makes, guys, you can't imagine how delicious it is, the dinner was magnificent, as was the breakfast, what a spectacular restaurant it deserves. not just 5 stars, but all possible stars. If you're looking for a wonderful hotel, you've found it, with the best cuisine in London, you definitely need to check it out. We will definitely come back more often.

The picture of the front and the staff attitude are the best things about this place. Most of the rooms are in what appears to be a concrete block out back. We had room 45. To me, it was small and pokey. The shower head was dirty, and the shower control fell off when touched - someone had tried to botch it with silicone. We wanted to put our valuables in the room safe when we went to dinner, but we couldn't open it - reception didn''t know how to open it but promised to find out and get back - never did. The staff were very pleasant, but appeared to need some training. I ordered a bottle of wine with dinner, and someone plonked the bottle and two glasses on the table and we didn't see him again. I had to open the bottle myself. My wife's dinner was cold, and by the time a replacement was brought along I had finished mine. To get to our room it was three flights of stairs down, and then one up, fortunately we can manage stairs. When we booked out, I noticed a 'bar service charge' had been added to the bill? We didn't buy any drinks at the bar? After asking what it was for I was told it was optional? 10% had been added to everything other than the basic room charge. To me the place looked tired, out of date, and ready for updating. The staff we had contact with were positive, and helpful. Would I stay there again, I don't think so.

Well let’s start with the good and say full English breakfast was tasty and quickly produced. The rest … We stayed for a party (food again good but bar service embarrassingly poor) and had a room that involved a labyrinth of stairs and corridors to reach - do not even attempt if you are ageing. The room size was adequate but the double bed was just “double” and the mattress was like a marshmallow. And there was no heat in the room in November. This was reported at 6.30pm and we were told the engineer was fixing the boiler … nothing had changed by bedtime. Next morning we were told we would have been given a heater if we had reported it - like we did?!?! The receptionist claimed he had no authority to give any reduction but we could wait until 5pm when a manager arrived; it was 10am and we were checking out. (We did manage to get a small reduction for the lack of heat after a lot of discussion) There will not be a return visit
