I booked this hotel because it was the cheapest 2 night stay near the airport.

The basic functions of the hotel stay, i.e. bed and breakfast, were great. The bed and pillows were really comfy, and the breakfast was really nice both mornings. And the airport shuttle service was really good and reliable.

The service and room furnishings could definitely have been better.
On arrival I was not given any information about breakfast or the facilities available (I knew the hotel had a spa), the bathroom is far too small for two people, our duvet had a tear in it, the phone didn't work, none of the Ethernet ports worked, the plug socket was coming off the wall, the second night we asked if room service was available and unfortunately because they were understaffed we had to take our food to our room ourselves, there was no free WiFi (apart from 20 mins whoopie...) if my partner and i wanted 24h of WiFi it would have been £14 as the vouchers are only valid for one device, some of the TV channels didn't work, and the soup dispenser in the bathroom was almost empty.

If it hadn't been for the basic functions of the hotel being quite good (bed and breakfast), I would have rated it lower.
However, I don't plan to stay there again, I'd rather pay extra.

A hotel of 2 parts. On entering all looks lovely, the reception, bar, restaurant. The staff were lovely, friendly and helpful. Then the room! Very small, very old fashioned, very old and tired looking. The bathroom looked grubby (I couldn't bring myself to shower). No remote for TV. As it was sunny we ate outside which was a nice option and the food we had was lovely (pizza) looked and tasted freshly made.
Yes it's cheap and close to airport but it looked like it hadn't changed for 30yrs. Also they were charging £10 per person (adult) for transfer from airport and the same to the airport. We (2 of us) got an Uber taxi and it cost £9 each way , a saving of £22.

Ended up here after our original booking was moved to this hotel. First impressions were ok, "this looks alright" I thought. Got inside and went to check in, rooms were not ready. No problem I'll get a beer at the bar, stood there for 5 mins and no one came so I went back to reception to enquire if the bar was actually open. Reception staff went out back and found the bar staff for me, who was on a smoke break. Just one member of staff to man the bar, this became a theme of things to come. Eventually got checked in by a wonderful lady who unfortunately I didn't catch her name. She sorted out our rooms so my family were next to each other and we ended up with ok rooms. When we got the rooms a shower curtain was missing from one bathroom and both rooms had no hair dryers even though it stated all rooms were provided with these. Reception were contacted and advised of the shower curtain and dryer situation. We then booked in for evening dinner 7pm, no one again on the restaurant desk so we had to proceed to reception again who went looking for staff. Eventually seated after 10 mins, and the restaurant was empty. Got a menu and the prices were extortionate to say the least but when you're hungry and have no other options in the area then you pay or go hungry. Food was ok but definitely not worth the price we paid. We then waited to order deserts for the kids but with the restaurant filling up and only one person taking orders and seating people we gave up and complained to management. Once back in the rooms we had a lovely evening listening to other guests banging and slamming doors all night. In the future I would book a premier inn or something similar, I will definitely avoid britania hotels next time I travel.

Booked an executive room and received something resembling a room in an asylum centre. Bed was collapsing and on wheels. Wasn’t a normal size double barely pushed a 3/4. Towels are a commodity in this hotel. They are grudgingly put in and guests are expected to share one towel per room. Don’t go near the food a tin of chappie would probably taste better and be more worth the money. Drinks sit at about £7 a glass of wine.

The only benefit to this hotel is the handful of staff and when I say handful I mean you can count them on one hand. It’s t like the film carry on abroad where the same person turns up in a different uniform claiming they are a relative. Kate the manageress and her hardy tiny team fly around trying to hold things together. Apologising sincerely for the terrible time everyone is having knowing full well the tiny tiny budget they have wouldn’t run a coffee shop let alone a hotel.

I have one comment Alex Langsam stop treating your staff and customers like the lowest form of inhabitants on planet earth. Be more upfront with the Britannia name on booking sites or put your tight fisted hand in your pocket and have some respect for people. Spend some of your 250 million pounds of wealth on your business or next time can I come and stay at your house for £164.

I am very familiar with the Britannia Airport Inn Manchester, as I have been a member of the gym there since 1988. Now that hotels and gyms are finally reopening after the long Coronavirus lockdown, I for one will NOT be renewing my membership to the hotel gym (Spindles). Despite making lots of friends during my time there, I have finally used the forced break to pluck up the courage to finally leave the club. I have simply come to the end of my tether there with regards to the total lack of respect the hotel management (who also manage the gym) have towards their clients. They literally do not give the slightest toss about their customers at all. To write a proper synopsis of the issues I’ve had with the club over the years (Britannia have owned this hotel since January 2014) would take an age, but suffice it to say that the management are not interested in investing in the club, nor are they interested in hearing what any of the members have to say. We are all beating our heads against a brick wall. Last time I was at the gym in mid-March, the club was in a terrible state of disrepair, in desperate need of redecoration, with no more than 50% of the lockers in a usable condition, and with much of the gym kit (particularly the stationary bikes) on it’s last legs. I can honestly say that as an experienced businessman myself, I have never come across a business as poorly run as this one, and I no longer want to be a part of it. I appreciate that this review is more about the gym rather than the hotel, but it's the same management running the gym that runs the hotel, so I don't think it's unreasonable to assume that the hotel is run exactly the same way. In my long experience with this Britannia Hotel (over 7 years now), they have shown no interest at all in maintaining the hotel, investing in new facilities, and more importantly perhaps, in listening to their customers. I'm clearly not the only person who thinks like this either; Britannia Hotels has been rated the worst hotel chain for the seventh year in a row.

A truly awful hotel. Seems to have been built in the 60s and that was probably the last time it was cleaned. Restaurant only serves frozen fries and pizza. Breakfast looked/tasted and smelled so bad! There were signs everywhere asking people to wear masks, but not even the staff was wearing them. Tried to use some of the disinfecting gel they were offering but it turns out it was just water!
Oh and it cost us 200 pounds for just one night!

Arranged a booking with this hotel through booking.com - everything confirmed. Arrived at the hotel after a long day of travelling to be told by a waiting guest that they had no rooms. He had also booked and had been waiting over an hour. Another guest arrived after us to the same situation. Blame was placed on booking.com for booking rooms that were not available, but my understanding of this is that the hotel has full control of their availability on booking.com.

It turns out that there were actually empty rooms, but they had not been cleaned. They had one member of staff trying to clean up rooms for people waiting (this member of staff was not, I believe, one of their actual cleaners..)

We ultimately decided not to stay and the receptionist said we could have a full refund, but was unable to process this herself and it would have to wait until morning. Nothing was offered in regards to compensation for taxi costs etc. Have been trying to contact the hotel to check the refund has been processed but have not been able to get through so far.

I will say that the lady on reception was very nice, but ultimately unable to solve the problem.

I wish I was being dramatic but this is quite possibly the worst hotel I’ve ever stayed in, in my life. I wasn’t expecting much for the price but it’s on another level.

The shower curtain was stained, and smeared with what was almost certainly human faeces.

There were stains all over the carpet, drink marks on the wall and the towels were dirty.

There’s no shower gel/shampoo in the dispenser in the bathroom (which is closed by a wobbly wooden shower door which makes you feel like you’re sat on a train toilet).

You can hear every car going past on the road outside.

The wifi isn’t free.

There’s no iron in the room and the receptionist had to hunt one down in the hotel which took 20 mins.

The bed is uncomfortable and when asking for some pillow cases for the extra pillows in the wardrobe, they didn’t have any because they “had a busy new year”.

The sanitiser dispenser had snapped so there wasn’t any available.

To top it off, the woman on the other side of the paper thin walls spent the night coughing from what was almost certainly covid.

I don’t think I’ll be back.

Before we even managed to visit we were messed around constantly with staff changing the date of our spa day. We were left confused with when we were actually booked in for with the member of staff being virtually impossible to get hold of to confirm their changing dates with. On arrival the man in the leisure club reception was friendly which is the only positive of this trip. The changing rooms were dirty with NO working lockers meaning you had to take a chance and leave your valuables in the changing room or keep by the edge of the pool unattended. I don’t know which is worse. The toilets were FILTHY, and clearly had not been cleaned in a while with dried on pop on the seat and the flushes not working. Everywhere was dirty and damaged. We went to the pool to be find out spa day was actually in the same room as lots of screaming and excited children, as a group of busy mums looking for time out this was not what we had in mind and neither was this mentioned anywhere. There were only a handful of loungers which meant our relaxing trip was sitting around on bar stools by a pool with screaming children. The smaller jacuzzi type pool was closed. The food was not great. Everywhere was filthy. I asked the bloke on reception about the standards and to say politely that we were not happy and he replied that he knew, they get complaints constantly and he could give me an email address to complain to. Utter waste of money, appalling.

We booked 3 rooms to stay for a night, although the check-in is at 4PM we waited for over an hour, and the staff kept telling us that rooms are not ready yet, after several complaints and heated conversations they gave us access to one room only after 5PM! We were going to attend an event, so we left all our luggage in one room and left in a hurry, also noticing that the lift was not working! When we came back and asked for the other 2 rooms and complained, the staff was rude and unwilling to apologise. His answer was, “everybody else had to wait like you”, this is a completely unacceptable response. The status of the room was so untidy, missing a towel rack, there was no handwash in the toilet. We noticed used towels on the corridor floors, so we stayed away from the shower and the towels.

I believe it’s straight outside the hotel. We booked a taxi bus that picked us up at the front door, I think it was about £20 for 5 of us plus a tonne of luggage.
