The Kings Arms Hotel is often commended for its exceptional service, with staff members frequently recognized for their warmth and efficiency. Although the cleanliness of the hotel is generally upheld, some guests suggest that areas like the showers could benefit from more attention. While the atmosphere is described as pleasant, there's a consensus that the property could use an update, as the comfortable rooms are also deemed tired and outdated. Despite this, the hotel's pricing is considered reasonable, and amenities like the cozy beds and the quality of the food receive positive remarks.

We booked to stay at Kings Arms Hotel and saw mixed reviews on Booking.com.. The hotel is a 3 star and for a superior room we ( 2 adults) paid £86 for bed and breakfast, which is excellent value for money. There was easy and free parking at the hotel, staff were very helpful and friendly and the hotels position right in centre of Westerham was ideal.
The room was big and had a large bathroom with a large deep “free standing bath”. The addition of a magnifying mirror was a personal highlight which many other way more expensive hotels fail to provide.
The decor is a little tired but the bed was very comfortable. All the staff were friendly and helpful and the food and drinks were excellent. Breakfast lasted us most of the day and was cooked perfectly. We would recommend this hotel for anyone wanting to visit this area

Firstly let me say the staff that we met were friendly abd professional. We stayed in Room 10 and to be honest we were really disappointed. The decor is very dated, the carpets are old and dirty. The furniture whilst servicable is very dated. The bathroom whilst relatively clean is very outdated and the toilet is not fastened to the floor and the boards around it appear to be rotten. There is grout missing from the tiles and the bath panel is cracked. The bed was massive and really comfy so for one night was OK.
The public areas are in desperate need of updating the carpets are old and really dirty, there are anti slip edges to the stairs but these are peeling and look unsightly. The hand rail is loose on the turn of the stairs.
Breakfast was OK but the bacon was dried out and not freshly cooked. My partner wanted a runny poached egg but recieved a solid yolk.
Over all whilst the location is great Green King need to get the fabric of the building sorted and upgrade the rooms as currently they are not worth the £85 a night for the room we stayed in and breakfast was not up to a great standard.

Had a very pleasant experience at this Hotel. They have set a high standard in regards to social distancing and hygiene, I felt really comfortable here in that respect. As mentioned in other reviews, our room was dated and would really benefit from being brought up to date; however it was very clean, I couldn't fault that at all. Food was delicious and portion sizes good; and the staff we met were really friendly and the hotel has a nice atmosphere. Overall I think for our needs it was good value for money and we look forward to returning!

This is a lovely place to go for a drink or something to eat now lockdown is easing. Daniel and his team are polite and professional, the cleanliness is outstanding and they provide what feels like a completely safe environment for relaxing in whilst knowing all the new rules are being adhered to.

Stayed for convenience on a work trip, generally the ground areas have been refurbed to a reasonable standard and given the current covid scenario reasonable enough. the bedroom itself was definately past its sell by date and the bathroom needed a complete refurb. lino floors and 20 year old kit just dont befit the price tag. Staff were attentive enough and the food reasonable although the order was wrong on a couple of counts. i can probably find better but the staff are struggling with an old underinvested site - perhaps a sign of the times to come...

The staff could not have been better and I recommend them to any future employer. Unfortunately we cannot recommend the hotel. Tired, grubby, peeling wallpaper, chipped paint, falling plaster, tape on the stairs that is becoming a safety issue. Oh dear! The food in the evening was standard pub grub, but the breakfast was left out all day. Everything was dull, brown and beige and covered in finger marks.
The photographs on the Greene King website promise wonderful, and their replies to bad reviews with 'we are upgrading' is not enough - you should be offering substantial discounts in the (distant) hope that we will visit again - after this incredibly disappointing experience.

Stayed at the King's Arms, Westerham for two nights in June 2024, to facilitate a visit to Hever Castle and Biggin Hill.

Basically, we had a great stay there. We had room 5 "Henry VIII" room, a large room with a 4 poster bed, big TV, wardrobe, drawers, chairs, tea and coffee facilities. Also a huge bathroom with a corner shower and a free standing bath, wash basin and WC. Plenty of controllable hot water and big bath towels.

There was an iron, ironing board, hair drier and fan. It was warm and comfortable and there was nothing missing.

We needed more milk and decaffeinated tea which housekeeping were quick to provide.

The restaurant had a good selection of well prepared dishes with 20% off the already competitive prices for lunch and dinner for residents and there was a free car park for residents (give reception your vehicle registration on arrival).

I admit it could have done with a bit of a refresh. The floors squeaked and were slightly uneven but this place looks like an old coaching house so I'm not surprised the building has "settled" a bit. Could do with a coat of paint here and there but it hardly distracted from our overall experience.

In summary, this hotel is fine and we were totally satisfied with our stay there. Thanks to all of the reception, service and restaurant staff for making our stay so enjoyable.

Oh dear!
Firstly, the car parking is a bit of a faff and if you are leaving your car there during the day you need coins for the machine, its quite cheap though £4 for all day & when you check in you are covered for the evening without paying again. The hotel is in a great location too.
All the staff we encountered were very cheerful & welcoming & our lunch was good.
I agree with the previous comments about how run down the hotel is, its an old building that needs some love & it appears a much needed refurb is in the pipline which will improve the hotel greatly.
Unfortunately we didnt sleep well at all, our room had a boiler or some kind of extractor attached that went off every 15mins & it was so loud, if my husband had not had a couple of drinks we would have gone home.
I hope Greene King put some money & love into this place, the staff deserve it & more importantly the customer expects it.

Very very dated hotel, the bathroom could do with updating, and this reminded us of an old hospital ward bathroom, I have to say the worst thing was the carpets, they were extremely dirty! The hotel could do with a re vamp. Our parents had stayed the night before as we were all going to a wedding the following day. They had paid for a premier room and were given a family room, the windows which looked out to the back had no coverings, so people could see you getting changed, and when you pulled the curtains only one lamp worked, not giving enough light! Breakfast was on the morning we stayed however was not when my parents stayed. The glasses for the juice were filthy. The breakfast was okay. Such a shame as this is a lovely location. My sister and brother in law stayed in room 7 and there is mould on the walls! When we checked out there was no one on reception, and two keys that had been handed in by other people staying. We had no opportunity to pay, so my mum had to foot the bill and us reimburse her when she left, and she only found someone as she wanted to complain! I personally would stay else where!! I have also left my charger plugged into the wall in the room we stayed in. I contacted the hotel yesterday and 24 hours later I am still awaiting a response!! Poor customer service.

We stay here for just one night and enjoyed our stay and would definitely stay again when in the area.

Our room was very basic. Saying that, we had everything we needed. The furniture was very outdated but the room was clean and the bedding spotless. The bed was comfy as were the pillows. We had a bath and the water was lovely and hot.

We had asked for a quiet room and was given a top floor one and we didn't hear a sound all night long.

We had breakfast in the morning and was surprised at the wide choice. We had a full English each. It was well cooked and the service was excellent.

I would definitely recommend this hotel but a word of advice: we booked this room four weeks before. If we had left it until a night or two before staying, it would have been £35 cheaper.

Check in time is 1400 and during the week and there is normally a receptionist on duty. However at the weekend you may have to go and ask bar or restaurant staff to check you in.
