The hotel was much better than the initial impression on entering the building, which has very dull dark decoration. Room was completely different being bright and spacious. Furniture was very low quality but provided plenty storage space. Nice views from window of room over the bay. As well as being the only hotel it is the only restaurant on island open in evening so we ate there both nights and were very happy with the meals we had which made use of local ingredients and was served by pleasant staff. One slight criticism is that their wine list is just hand written on a piece of paper with no prices on it. A bit off putting given the variance which exists in wine price. No tab was offered for food or drink at time of consumption and no breakdown even at check out so we had no idea how much any of the drinks we had cost. This approach tended to discourage buying drinks given the uncertainty over how much you were spending. In reality I don't think the prices were unreasonable but I think it would be better for both hotel and guest if greater transparency was provided. Would definitely recommend this as a place to stay and /or eat if visiting Tiree

Eleven years have passed since I last stayed here, lots of work needed then, to improve the hotel, well, I was impressed on my return. This trip was to take my wife a tour of the islands beaches, and to sample island life. Check in was smooth, and quick, lovely lass on reception, and made us welcome. Our room was room 10, facing the sea, fabulous view, unpacked and started to put our clothes away, and noticed how much the room needed a makeover, the shower cubicle was grotty with grime on the shower hose, the silicone sealant was black, but we made do best we could. Venturing down to the bar, we met a jolly chap named Conner, real friendly type, he told us the new owner has plans to revamp the rooms this coming winter. The public areas have had a makeover, the toilets on my last visit were disgusting, now, I could not believe this was the same ones I used all those years ago, amazing, spotless, and bright. The restaurant has had some work done too, what a transformation, still little bits here and there need some TLC, but it will be done at some point. The full Scottish breakfast is enormous, it was a challenge to finish, service is real good too, all made fresh, so a little wait between dishes. All in all, would definitely return to the Lodge, the staff are so welcoming, and happy to help with any queries.

We stayed here after the Tiree Music Festival. The hotel is in a fabulous location looking over Gott Bay and right next to a huge beach. Our bedroom was a bit faded with old furniture although the en-suite looked like it had been upgraded. A big plus point was the food, both breakfast and dinner. Both were served in what looked like a recently refurbished part of the hotel in a bright and airy dining room, it was like being actually on the beach. Food was great, especially the seafood. Good breakfast too. Friendly staff. We didn’t use the bar as we were recovering from the music festival. I hope the owners are able to complete refurbishing the hotel as it’s a great spot.

A friend and I stayed two nights in a twin room with spectacular views.
Our twin room, number 11, was cramped, and beds were barely comfortable.
One of the windows was sporting a frame of duct tape. Vents were screwed shut and neither window opened. The only ventilation was the severe draught not contained by the duct tape.
We had a convector heater and an oil filled radiator (the latter didn't work) to contend with in this cramped space. The central heating did work eventually. Our room was not serviced during our stay.
The ensuite was a generous size but had no heating or ventilation and mold on the ceiling. Window didn't open nor was it vented!
The route from the public rooms to our bedroom was very dark, narrow and there was an opening to our corridor which had a wee slope, no light and a staircase nearby. It is dangerous! The walls, ceilings, skirtings and doors are painted in a dark grey/green. The carpet was slightly paler.
The dining area is light and bright and the views, had they not been distorted by burst double glazing panels, would be spectacular. This area has recently been renovated but is yet to be completed. It was comfortably warmed by a variety of plugged in heaters sporting cable trip hazards.
I found the bar area to be dull, dingy and cold.
Recently renovated 'public' loos were lovely.
The staff were helpful and pleasant.
We paid £100 per night for a room which was not fit for habitation. We had paid up front.
We were told the hotel was full or we would have asked for another room.
Not a hotel to be recommended yet. - It has potential.
We will be writing to the hotel.

We stayed at the hotel from 17th - 21st June, We weren’t sure what to expect from reading previous reviews however we really enjoyed our stay, mostly because of the genuinely, warm and friendly staff and the delicious food.
There’s no getting away from the fact the hotel is tired and could certainly do with a spruce up and if what I’ve heard is true it’s in the pipeline but I really hope that the staff and chef are kept on as they are an asset and really make staying at this hotel a pleasure.
The location of the hotel is stunning, it overlooks a stunning beach in a sheltered bay, we were in the water and it felt reasonably comfortable because of the long shallow bay.
We will definitely be back and make a point of staying here again.

We stopped here on the spur of the moment.
Despite the slightly unprepossessing exterior we were made to feel welcome, enjoyed the food and had a relaxing lunch in a great location. Would definitely go again and recommend a visit after a morning on the beach or on the sea

We arrived here after some poor service from another establishment down the coast, we were made to feel very welcome when we arrived on a very stormy and wild day. We had a few drinks and ordered lunch which was very reasonably priced and delicious, we sat in the bar which was very comfortable with stunning views out to Gott bay.
We returned again one afternoon for drinks and the place had a great atmosphere with tourists and locals having a laugh in the bar before the disco that evening. A great wee place that we will visit again on our return.

The hotel would benefit from a makeover although the ladies beside the lounge bar clearly had as it was quite contemporary compared to the rest. And it was clean. Due to COVID patrons were few however our lunch was freshly cooked and really tasty. Had I read some of the previous reviews I might have dodged the place however the staff were lovely and our meal perfect for lunch. I had the fish and chips - clearly fresh fish not frozen and hubby had the staple burger which he enjoyed. On an island with limited options during this pandemic we were pleasantly surprised.

OK, so it's not Gleneagles or the Grosvenor! It is a plain good and honest Island Hotel. Yes I'm sure I could look at some minor niggles, but I had a comfortable bed in a smallish room - but in Tiree you'll want to only sleep in the room and spend the rest of the time outside. The hotel is currently undergoing upgrading - it is overdue but it is still a great place. The food is outstanding, local produce and I would put it on a par with the best (and I do stay at expensive hotels so I can compare)....oh and it is one of the few hotels where the coffee and tea in the room come with a big mug - not a small cup!
Overlook the petty comments of others, look at the view from the rooms and don't look at all the decor (the Dakota hotels have dark corridors and I don't see complaints about them!). Tiree Lodge is getting there and I look forward to revisiting soon.

Due to covid 19 my husband and I had to change our plans. Thankfully we had three nights on Coll and only two at the Tiree lodge. Def will not be back to this hotel. They claim to be a no frill hotel.. They got that right although I would have considered a wardrobe necessary. No storage space save for 2 scruffy bedside tables. Skirting has not seen a clean in months. Food was OK but we waited one hour and 15mins to order our starter at a table that was prebooked.we both ordered haddock and Chips but had to take roast potatoes as they had run out of chips!!!The whole appearance of the hotel is scruffy even the tables in the outside space were badly needing attention.. Would have thought all the time during covid when the place was shut they could have tidied up the place a bit even if it meant filling in the potholes at the entrance!!! Def will not be back.
