I was really surprised by this hotel. My experience of small hotels is not usually good. The room was cosy comfortable and warm for me arriving. comfortable bed and food was high quality. Will consider coming here again if in tiree again. Wasn't a fan of the bare floorboards in the bed room and the shower was tiny and a bit cramped. That said i would reccomend the staff are freindy and polite inwas amde to feel welcome.

We visited the Scarinish Hotel for coffee and had our meals there in the evening. The meals were excellent as were the drinks. The bar manager was friendly and we felt welcomed. No long wait for food as experienced in earlier reviews. Would recommend staying here but booked another hotel because of the reviews, but after visiting we wish we had booked here.

We stayed at the Scarinish Beach Hotel on a pool visit to the Isle of Tiree. This is an old hotel but had been updated. It was very comfortable. The staff was very friendly and helpful. Breakfast was included in our stay and it was quite good. An added bonus was the bar at the hotel that provided an opportunity to chat with some of the local residents. I would recommend this to anyone wanting to visit Tiree

Heard good things so was disappointed with the service overall. Booked for 5.30pm - early dinner suits us with having wee kids. One other customer at a table when we arrived. By 7.10pm, only our table and the first table had been served any food. Booking for 5.30 and waiting until around 7pm for food (especially when you've got wee kids) is very poor. Staff might have been new, maybe the chef was new too, no idea. Felt sorry for the staff, clearly not their fault and were doing their best. Interior has been nicely refreshed but beyond that, disappointing. Bathroom had no toilet paper or anything to dry hands with either.

When we arrived there was nobody in the foyer and we were unsure if we were meant to wait to be seated or find a table ourselves. Eventually, a waitress came and found our booked table. The restaurant itself was not quiet but not overly busy either. We chose to have a beef roast dinner which came out incredibly fast. Unfortunately, the reason it was so fast was because it had clearly been dished up in advance and sat under a lamp. A young waiter bought out our meals using his jumper sleeves instead of tea towels, even though the plates were not hot. The food itself was just average and was nothing to shout about. My partner had finished his drink part way through the meal and whilst he was not offered another, we also were not checked on to see if we needed anything or if the meal in itself was ok. The plates were taken away and again, no offer of another drink however we did get given a pudding menu. My partner chose a chocolate and orange mousse and on arrival it was definitely not as described with no hint of either in sight! Once finished, our empty bowl and glasses were sat on our table for over 20 minutes before a member of staff eventually came and took just the bowl, they did not ask how the pudding was or if we wanted anything else. As they were walking away with the bowl my partner quickly asked if we could have the bill as we didn’t know how long it would be before they came to us again! However, she did not return. The other waiter came over and asked if we wanted another drink, and we asked again for just the bill, he returned with the printed bill and card reader and didn’t even read out the amount, never mind even saying please! We paid and he walked off, again, no thank you either… After visiting this pub on numerous occasions in the past, the service does not match their new ‘revamp’. It is a shame that we will not be looking to return in the future.

This used to be a good little pub years ago with a decent pint when visiting. Has went down hill over the past few years. Had no gas for the draft beer for a week. Unwelcoming staff and atmosphere. It's not really fitting with the rest of the island. Not bad good sign when even the locals avoid and don't have great things to say.

We have had dinner at the Scarnish several times over the last few years and have loved their menus. Very disappointed this year… I ordered the Scarnish Boulibassee which stated it came with local lobster, Salmon, sea bass, mussels and a shellfish cream sauce. When I asked where my mussels and lobster were the chef said in the sauce. Not how I read the menu and steep at £34 for only salmon and sea bass in a sauce. Very disappointed!!!

As all have stated, this hotel is in a wonderful position. The sand on the reception floor give the impression of sun and holidays and relaxation. The view is amazing. Such hopes for a wonderful stay. Our room was nice and had a small dressing room as well. The room door lock mechanism was faulty which meant we actually couldn't get out of the bedroom. (Thank goodness for mobile phones!) There were no other rooms available so with our own thoughts on fire escape, we agreed to stay. We eventually found a way to get the door to open. That night, when wanting a shower before bed there was no hot water. We were told this was known but they thought it had been fixed. This bedroom is above the kitchens and the expectation is that they use all the hot water for dish washer etc, leaving guests without any. It took a long time to be provided with robes to allow us to walk down the corridor to a 'shared' bathroom if we needed. We moved rooms the next day. The hotel is quirky but needs a lot more staff training to deal with the normality of guests and servicing a restaurant. As for a barman that cannot make a shandy...... Some of the staff were very efficient and pleasant whilst others were almost rude. If they don't know the answer they should find out - don't just say e.g. that type of wine has run out when it hadn't! (Thank you for finding it the next day!) The sand in the rooms does become an issue. Surely a daily hoover and floor wash would stop a lot of that? The rooms we were in, needed completing. Our bathroom door did not shut, the skirting board needed finishing off, rotting wood by the shower, the hole in the wall needed plastering - just a few examples - and all of which completely reduces the impact that this hotel seems to be striving for. The food on the whole was excellent and to be recommended with just the odd item needing an upgrade. Some of the kitchen staff/chefs were SO smiley and friendly - a joy.

Visited the bar twice (went back hoping that it couldn’t be as cold and soul-less the second time). The (new as it turned out) bar staff were so un engaging, it was like being served by AI. No effort is made to make visitors feel welcome. Such a pity, as the bar could be so much more welcoming.

We had booked a table for dinner prior to visiting (a month before) through email and it was confirmed by someone called Terry, as we showed up we realised the place was empty and we were told there was no chef on tonight and they were closed, very disappointed don’t recommend.
