The staff were friendly and helpful right from the check in. Service was good food was good, and a very comfortable room. My wife and I stayed two nights, we found all the staff very friendly, cheerful and helpful. I would definitely recommend this hotel for a getaway. Thankyou for a very pleasant stay!
Disappointing. Arrived on our first night of our stay at 9.20pm after a long day’s work to be told that the bar was closed. The following morning’s breakfast was very disappointing, the food was terrible and the chairs in the restaurant all seemed to be on their last legs, not comfortable at all. Same evening we returned to the hotel ar 10.10pm to see a sign on the locked front door to direct us via Church Lane to the entrance for entry. No idea where Church Lane was and hopefully will never visit this place again. What a downturn in a once thriving hotel, such a shame to see it now.
Yesterday myself and my partner arrived at the hotel for a family wedding. We were initially placed in a twin room even though we booked as a couple. The room (no.21) was on the top floor, no lift access and lots of luggage to carry. When getting in the room, the window was open (the weather is freezing atm) and the heating was not on. I immediately went and informed reception, to be told to wait half an hour for it to ‘come on’. I proceeded back up to the room, to be disgusted by the cleanliness of it. The dirt and black mould in the shower was atrocious, the shower dripped out water and was barley functioning. After said half an hour i went back to reception, to hear that another guest was complaining about heating in another room. After waiting an additional hour, we were moved to room 14. This room was even worse, it stank of cigarette smoke, there was mould on the walls, wallpaper coming off and had a fire exit light on the inside by the window which shone green all night long, again the cleanliness was appalling and the toilet wouldn’t stop dripping. After such a horrid start to our stay already, we proceeded to try and get an early night ready for the wedding in the morning. At 1am, the room next to us was accompanied by multiple guests screaming, laughing, knocking, banging and slamming doors until gone 4am. After knocking only once on the door we were told to F.Off by said guests and had abuse hurled at us. With no one at reception and no other alternative myself and my partner decided to leave the hotel at 4:30am with over an hours drive to get home. We later on were told by other wedding members, that the hotel had over booked a large group of people not included in the wedding and these were the result of the disruption, they even turned up to the bridal stay and told the bride they were supposed to be staying there. Never have i stayed in such a place, and had such a horrid experience. This has all resulted in not being able to attend a family wedding. I have never had to write a negative review before, but felt this necessary.…
Was meant to stay for 2 nights for wedding reception, on arrival was given keys to a room on the top floor (no lift) with no heating as they “didn’t know it was broken” and the windows wide open, notified reception who then changed us to another room, the second room stank of fags and smoke and had mould all over the walls, there was also a safety exit light that you could not cover and glowed green all night, we was awoken at 1:30am by other guests next door who were very noisy, banging doors, shouting, when I knocked on their door at 3am I was told to “f off”, tried going down to reception to notify them, there was no one to be seen, the noise continued and me and my partner finally had enough at 4am and decided to pack and leave and drive over an hour home, we was not going to stay another night, the next morning I rang the hotel at 11am to complain, they told me they’d get someone to ring me back as they didn’t deal with complaints on reception desks (they never), I rang back at 1pm, again they said someone would ring me back, and I rang again at 5pm and they would not answer the phone to me, I finally had an email at 5:30 pm saying that they would refund me on this occasion without speaking to me about the complaints, all services for this hotel are awful, would not recommend staying here what so ever!!…
We started to relax and unwind the minute we walked into our lovely suite simply but well appointed with quality country style furniture, leather sofa and comfy bed. The bathroom gave us the choice of a large shower or rolled topped bath. In the restaurant you are transported to a Bistro in the Pyrennes. Forget little portions and think small plates of concentrated flavours, colour and texture. Each mouthful was a delight. We dined on two nights and found that four plates was ample and more. We spent time choosing wine not because we couldn't find one but the choice was interesting and very good. Newcastle Emlyn is a small intimate market town far enough from larger places to still offer a wonderful mix of independent retailers, antique shops, cafes and pubs - not a chain in sight. There are lots of off road walks within the town and for true walkers wonderful hill walking around. The castle and its grounds gave us the opportunity to walk away the delicious breakfast (proper bacon and sausage with free range eggs). We highly recomment the hotel and destination to anyone looking for a relaxing or walking holiday. The Cardigan and Pembrokeshire Coasts are under an hour away.…
All the staff were very friendly and helpful. Our room. Ty'r Ffynnon in the court yard was excellent, warm and comfortable. Breakfasts were freshly prepared and well cooked. The Tapas evening meal was superb with a extensive choice of excellent dishes. The bar, although quiet was comfortable with a good choice of drinks.
If you stay in any of the bedrooms in the main building check the evacuation arrangements with reception. It’s not as stated in the notices in the bedrooms. I have written to the manager about this after we stayed there but not even the courtesy of an acknowledgement.
Attended a wedding at his venue and was so disappointed with the accommodation The twin room was tired and needed attention. Also so cold in the room and unable to get the radiator to work Damage to the walls needed addressing and mould around the shower!! We decided not to use the shower due to the mould. It appears a long standing problem as it is in the grout!! Television not working properly and unable to change channels !! Really unacceptable for the price!! The only saving grace was the breakfast although small it was very tasty. I don’t think with the room given we would return although the staff were friendly and very accommodating
Stayed for at the Emlyn Hotel for a birthday treat and it didn’t disappoint. The room was lovely with a luxurious bathroom and was very warm and cosy. We had an ice bucket and champagne glasses delivered to the room and nothing was too much trouble for the staff. We booked a table for the restaurant and the food was amazing. Every dish we ordered was devoured and the beef cheek was the tastiest dish I’ve had in years. Will definitely return. The breakfast was fresh cooked to order and again was very good. Would recommend this hotel for the quality of the food and the excellent friendly service and also because of the homely comfy suite we stayed. It was 10/10.
Stayed on a TravelZoo offer and after reading some of the reviews I was a bit apprehensive especially as it was a gift for my partner. Thankfully had very little to worry about. The location is great there are castle ruins and a lovely walk along the river within walking distance. But you can also visit some of the local beaches and if you fancy travelling further afield to Tenby or Aberystwyth which we did. We were greeted by the lovely receptionist who advised us that due to our room having maintenance done we had been upgraded to a suite which was a lovely gesture. The room was outside of the hotel just a short walk down the road with no parking but that was not a huge issue we could park long enough to unload the car. The room was fabulous, spacious lounge and bedroom and an amazing bathroom. Sadly there is no view out of the front window as there is a property directly opposite. I used the gym that was small but had enough equipment for me to get a decent workout done. There was no water available not sure if this is a covid thing as there were lots of empty bottles next to the water machine. Breakfast was lovely continental plus choices other than the full breakfast which you don't always get. So as we were staying for 3 nights i decided to have all 3 and all 3 very good. Just a few negatives. Check-in was 2pm we arrived just after but our room wasn't ready. The receptionist could not have been more apologetic though so we were ok with it just went next door to the pub for a drink. The television in our lounge was not working properly we reported it and were told that maintenance would be advised on Monday but it was not fixed for the duration of our stay. it wasn't a huge issue as we were out most of the day but as we had the luxury of a suite it would have been nice to have been able to have full use of it rather than just sitting on the bed to watch telly when we got back. There was a problem with the lock on the front door it was quite difficult to open from the outside and more worryingly from the inside. If there was an emergency and we needed to get out in a hurry that would not have been possible. We mentioned it to the cleaners when they came on the Monday and they said that they would report it again nothing was done during our stay. The bedroom gets very hot even with the radiator off so sleeping comfortably is an issue. There is a fan in the room which we used on the second night and it worked a treat and is very quiet. We decided to eat in the restaurant on one evening and as breakfast was so good we had high expectations sadly we were very disappointed. As a previous reviewer has mentioned it is very burger dominant with only 3 other options. My partner opted for the chicken goujons to start which we are pretty sure were a famous frozen brand! He chose a burger which he enjoyed but did say that it was a bit too big and he has a very big appetite but struggled with it. I chose the sea bass which was not very appetising at all. I see people have said that the menu is to be changed and we really hope so as we would like to return to the hotel and give it a another try. Final note has to go to the staff each and everyone of them that we came into contact with are a credit to the hotel, polite friendly and helpful. Yes we had a few niggles but we would 100% stay here again in part due to the fantastic customer service.…
