We were in a group of 7 ladies(well hardworking wine mums ) in Martinborough for Toast. Our rooms were really gorgeous, we were in rooms downstairs by the garden.. The price was higher though than we would like however I guess When Toast Martinborough is on they never have any trouble filling the rooms!! Our bed however was uncomfortable and... More

We dined here 2 nights in a row - it was so good! Lovely setting and the young chef is inspiring - interesting food and fresh flavours, all cooked and presented very well. Good service all round. Thanks for great memories.

Very tired, nowhere near what we expected from a past visit in their restaurant. The room was adequate, just what you would expect from a grand old place. But when the soap dispenser did not work, it took 1 1/2 to get another one. When we used the few tissues in the box, it was not replaced, when asked for... More

I had a wonderful dinner with my partner. It was without doubt the best dining experience I have ever had in the Wairarapa. The food was divine, cooked to perfection and the service was on point. Cant wait to come back.

Stopped by for a beer and bar snacks. Have to say the bar snacks were very good. I had a really good chowder and my wife some croquets. We shared some chunky potato wedges which were perfect. Thanks to the staff also who were happy to offer advice on local beers.

We stayed in town just for 1 night and were told how wonderful the food and wine are the hotel. We were not disappointed and the food was absolutely fabulous and so was the wine. I wish the waiteress would have not worn heels on the wood floor in the restaurant. You could hear her all over the places. Small... More

We stayed for a Saturday night in our travels around the Martinborough area and down to Cape Palliser. The room was in the Boutique section of the hotel in a building just adjacent to the main hotel. There was a large bathroom with bath and with underfloor heating which was very nice on the feet. As an old refurbished timber... More

The place is in urgent need of maintenance, clearly just holding on with a minimum of expenditure on basic standards. We strayed on a cold day and the heat pump in the room wasn't working so I tried to ring them on the room phone and that wasn't working either. Eventually a bar heater arrived but was woefully inadequate to... More

Martinborough Square is a delightful location. This historical hotel is one for the bucket list. The rooms, (we were upgraded to a suite) are excellent. Dinner in the restaurant was also excellent. The service was classy without being rarified, or rustic without being anything other than friendly. A really pleasurable experience.
