Our accommodations were as good as we have ever experienced other than five star facilities. Staying on the grounds was a pleasant surprise to us as did not know that it was available at the time we were planning our visit. Would highly recommend this stay for anyone visiting Stratford Hall or elsewhere in Westmoreland County.

We stayed at the Inn, not the cabins available during the summer. Our room was comfy and nicely decorated, and the bathroom had no shortcomings. The room included access to a small kitchen with fridge and microwave and a big living room, with flat screen TV, and lots of comfy couches- these rooms shared with all guests. However, in late...

Lovely, comfortable room. Poor access over a steep gravel path - bad for roller suitcases. A hot breakfast was advertised. We were given a self-service cold breakfast with cereal, yogurt and a cold biscuit. The silverware drawer contained no spoons and there was no running water in the kitchen - a total disaster.

Always enjoy coming here. Just was not impressed with the dining room at Christmastime. Very blah...no music, no décor. I was expecting a Colonial Christmas but was really let down so we left. I don't know what else to say about this.

If you want to get away from it all, but aren't the camping type, treat yourself to the Inn at Stratford Hall. My room was in the Cheek House, but there are adorable fully furnished cabins as well. No tv, no wifi-the perfect place to unplug and just breathe. History nerds like me enjoy the tour of the big house,...

The inn is in a pleasant setting, but not more special than a Hampton Inn. While it was nice to be on the grounds of Stratford Hall, the restaurant is closed for dinner, which is probably just as well as breakfast was only passable. With its remote location, absence of a nice little restaurant which serves dinner, and poor Internet...

We unfortunately stayed at the Cheek House over 4th of July for several days and well, So Much for Southern Hospitality! Yes indeed, the place is quiet with great history which we surely enjoyed - but what good is quiet with no food, ice water coming out of your shower, and promised WiFi that works for a few seconds then...

We stayed one night in the Cheek House. The room overlooked the woods. It was comfortable and clean. I wished we could have stayed longer. It was very peaceful. There is no TV in the room, but a common living room area with TV and kitchen. And a nice deck. We didn't use the common areas, which was just as...

Now, this was a very pleasant surprise to us, visiting Westmoreland County, Virginia, for the first time. Our drive to the Great House and accommodation quarters was beautiful. We checked in with Leslie (a definite keeper..delightful lady and couldn't do enough for my friend and I). We stayed at the Cheek House and it was very tranquil. The next day...

This is not your average hyped-up faux-historical travel destination. It is authentic, beautiful, and like stepping back in time, as far as the ambiance goes. I stayed in the Cheek House and loved it. Central club/living room off of gorgeous deck under a bower of trees, modern, nice kitchen and private baths. Very comfy. It is however easy to lock...
