Kay and Jim were wonderful hosts who made us feel at ease and comfortable; listening to them speak of Alaska was exciting. Breakfast was, hands down, the most exquisite and delicious food I have ever tasted:Their signature apple dish was probably the best thing I have ever eaten! Our stay was for our second anniversary, almost three years ago, but... More

We liked the comfort of the bed, the quality of the linens, the home cooked breakfast especially the peaches &a pecans, the decor, but most of all our very friendly hosts Jim and Kay. Thank you for a lovely couple of days. As others have said a truly outstanding B&B.

On our first totally unplanned trip, we struck gold. The Speckled Trout Bed and Breakfast is the best B&B that I have ever stayed at. It is located in a very quiet part of Waynesboro and is only a short distance from I-64 (exit 94), restaurants, and downtown. The owners, Kay and Jim Heafner (sorry Jim, ladies first) are so... What sets this B&B above the rest is the service. Kay and Jim are awesome people that go above and beyond to make you feel at home. After we came back from dinner we were given chocolate lava cakes and milk, as well as some nice conversation. I was personally brought some pillows while I was resting in their hammock... More

My wife and I recently visited my brother in Waynesboro. In past years we would usually stay at a national hotel/motel. I found the speckled trout on line and after a quick inspection by my brother the room was booked foe 3 nights. Best decision we could have made. The Inn itself is beautifully decorated and immaculate. Our room had... More

My husband and I stayed at the Speckled Trout B&B last week. The house is so inviting and beautifully decorated. My husband was in awe with the numerous fly-fishing pictures, rods and memorabilia! "Best fish-fishing museum ever!" Jim and Kay were wonderful; inviting us to enjoy dessert with them after our dinner in town. Breakfast in the sunroom looking out... More

My husband booked this B&B for us on our over night stay to the Outer Banks. It is beautifully furnished, private and hosted by a couple here after having a B&B in Alaska. They did not serve dinner but recommended a local restaurant and suggested we wait and join them for dessert later that evening. As my husband said, that... More

We stopped for an overnight and to hike a bit on the AT. Jim graciously helped us drop off our car. Kay recommended the Green Leaf for dinner which was wonderful. The room was deluxe and we had great chats with our hosts and other guests. Breakfast was a gourmet feast. Top of the line all around.

Stayed one night on our way to North Carolina hoping to complete our drive down the Blue Ridge Parkway after our arrival via the Skyline Drive. We had the good fortune to pick the Speckled Trout for our 2 night stay in Waynesboro. Jim and Kay are very gracious hosts and will make you feel like family. Although there are many other historic items and books in this... More

“We had the suite with the bathroom attached. The other rooms share a large bathroom. But all the rooms were beautifully appointed. There is a nice garden out back, a living room, and a library that are welcoming and comfortable. The breakfast was delicious. Ask and ye shall receive.”
