We just spent Thanksgiving week at Newport House and thoroughly enjoyed it. I personally am not a big B&B fan, but this stay changed my mind. John and Cathy were friendly and accommodating hosts. Breakfast was excellent ever morning. We have some dietary restrictions and they were able to work around those very easily. We liked hearing about the history...

We had such a great stay at Newport House. John and Cathy are wonderful hosts. The house is beautiful and the room was great. Breakfast was very good each morning and John told us different history stories of Virginia. It is a very short walk to Colonial Williamsburg and to all the restaurants. We would highly recommend Newport House.

My parents and I were able to stay at Newport House for a week in June and we loved every moment. John and Kathy made us feel right at home. The house itself is a time capsule of colonial America, from the floor plan, to the ballroom, to the four-poster beds. Breakfast was delicious and John and Kathy were able...

Thank you, Holly, for your most kind and thoughtful review. We enjoyed your sharing with us a bit of what you learned at the period clothing conference at Jamestown. Since your stay, Empress Josephine Bunnyparts celebrated her 9th birthday and she looks fit for many more! Looking forward to your next visit.

Newport House is a meticulously reconstructed historical home patterned on the ancestral home of the owners in another state. The rooms are furnished with exquisite antiques, elegant bed linens and draperies; but the bathrooms are modern. My friend and I shared a room with matching canopied twin beds for three nights, and each morning's breakfast was better than the last....

Thank you Bonnie for your gracious review. We do host English Country Dancing every Tuesday at 8pm and Scottish Country Dancing every Thursday at 7pm. Perhaps you can plan your next visit to include one of those nights. Looking forward to seeing you again.

We attended a wedding at William and Mary. Newport House was about a 15 minute walk, so it is also super-convenient to Colonial Williamsburg. John and Kathy were gracious hosts, and John filled us in on interesting W & M history during breakfast. This is not a really fancy place, but certainly comfortable and very clean. The bedroom doors do...

Your kind review was most appreciated. As to the bedroom doors, in keeping with our 18th century decor, we use 18th century reproduction thumb latches. There is a 'privacy lock' on the inside that is a tab that can be swiveled down so that it rests against the bar and the latch can not be opened from outside the room....

John and Kathy are the owners/innkeepers to Newport House. Not only were they very hospitable, but they made our visit to Colonial Williamsburg an educational experience. We loved hearing John's stories as he shared his wealth of knowledge as a historian. Their home was pleasantly decorated with time period characteristics. The next time we visit Williamsburg, VA, we will again...

If you want a unique and authentic colonial experience in Williamsburg, the Newport House is the perfect place to be. John and Cathy are charming innkeepers who make sure that guests enjoy a very special time that connects past and present. The inn itself is comfortable and tastefully appointed in period furnishings--and the weekly dances, for everybody, are straight of...

A trip to Williamsburg has been on my bucket list for some time and I was fortunate enough to visit September 22-27. When looking for a B&B to stay at, I came across the Newport House website and immediately knew it's where we would be staying. I couldn't have asked for more. This is a private residence that offers two...

Newport House is not just a wonderful colonial B&B. The guests are treated to a five-star history lesson at breakfast with John Millar's stories of lesser-known events in Colonial times and accounts of his historic ship-building projects. His narration of the fascinating story of the Colonial-era pirate ship “Batchelor’s Delight” is not to be missed. John is a historian with...
