I first visited this B&B 25 years ago with friends for a weekend and as I was travelling through the area decided to revisit and stay for a night. The owner is still the same, Mel Smith, and a great welcome offering tea and coffee which she made while I settled into my room. I call it a room but it was a mini suite in my view. Large double bedroom with a desk, two comfortable chairs and a coffee table. Also there was a fridge with still and sparkling water as well as a jug of fresh milk, which is a nice touch rather then UHT little capsules. Also as well as the obligatory buscuits were also some crisps. Shower room was immaculate and a good size shower as well with plenty of toiletries and big fluffy towels. Breakfast the next morning gave a huge selection of different types of breakfast from the usual full English breakfast to pancakes with maple syrup, fish, and a huge selection of juices and fresh fruit, cereal, croissants etc. I had cereal, full English and toast and that kept me going until dinner that evening. Once again it is the small detail that sets this B&B above others I have stayed in. Proper small milk bottles instead of UHT or jugs, your choice of juice in a bottle rather from a carton on the side. Home made jams, marmalade and honey with a honey stick also on the plate. If you are in the area then this place is well worth a visit and only wish I was there a few more days, which was also mentioned by other residents over breakfast.

We only stayed one night in the "Kingfisher" room - it was just lovely, spotless and so comfortable. We were offered refreshments on arrival (home made scones and jam with clotted cream with a strawberry on top for good measure). Breakfast was pre-ordered the night before from a wide choice and was cooked just how I like it. Our hosts made us feel welcome from the minute we arrived and will happily stay again.

Beautifully positioned in its own grounds, with country views all around and ample parking. Our room was large with a super big double bed and a single bed, small table with two armchairs, large TV, small fridge with milk and bottles of water provided, and coffee/tea/hot chocolate making facilities. The en-suite shower room had a large shower cubical with an additional hand held showerhead. We could not fault anything.
Breakfast was magnificent, with many choices (the fresh fruit salad was enough for the two of us to share), the full English delicious and the smoked haddock, poached egg and Hollandaise sauce so tasty.
But the most important part of our stay was the proprietress, Mel. Nothing was too much trouble, from the first friendly greeting to our departure. Made to feel welcome throughout our stay. Highly recommended.

On arrival we received a lovely warm welcome and when showed to our rooms, we were asked if we wanted tea or coffee. There were already the facilities in the room but we said yes anyway as we had had a long day and it was a nice gesture.
What a wonderful first impression as they arrived with complimentary fresh coffee, tea and cakes! That set our stay off to such a great start and was so appreciated.
The beds were comfortable and there was a seating area well appointed. Large bathroom with wall in shower and loved the extras of cotton buds and cotton wool pads which were handy
In the room there was a guest folder with information on the area including where to eat which we took advantage of and had dinner at a local pub
The house is in a quiet location and surrounded by countryside
Breakfast was fantastic and cooked perfectly. Service was excellent throughout

We wish we could have stayed longer, but instead we hope to revisit in the future if we get the opportunity

We got the feeling the guest house is very well looked after and loved and the owners enjoy what they do. We loved every moment of our stay

We stayed 6/11/21 and Mel was in touch prior to arriving to ensure our stay was perfect. She was very friendly and welcoming, the homemade cakes on arrival were a lovely touch and they were delicious!

Our room had everything we could need with a very comfortable bed with quality linen and luxury toiletries which were available to purchase too. There was a mini fridge and fresh milk along with a welcome variety of savoury snacks, sweet snacks and a verity of biscuits and lovely choice of teas and coffees.

After a good nights sleep, breakfast was plentiful - there was a choice a cereals and pastries with prepared fresh fruit and berries and full English cooked to order with the often missing mushrooms and black pudding along with toast and homemade preserves and honey. A filling start to the day.

Great value for money and I would most definitely stay again and highly recommend!

Found this place by accident. The hosts are amazing really welcoming and friendly. Making tea and cakes for every guest on arrival served in the lounge which is always a bonus after a long drive. The lounge is large and is available for guests to use there are games, jigsaws and cards provided plus a very large TV, it really was great. Bedroom very spacious, massive bed, water, and chocolate in fridge. Nice selection of tea and coffee 's. Lovely toiletries would benefit from a shower cap and maybe some earbuds. 2 tv's a small one for if your sitting having tea and coffee and a large one for if your in bed.
Everything very clean apart from dust strings above the bed and the bedside lampshades are really dusty they really need a clean, but in the hosts defence they wouldn't know that. It's not until night time that it becomes visible. So if the hosts read this- I hope they are not offended but just take the comment on board.
Breakfast is ordered the night before, and it's lovely, nice produce, cooked well, tastes great and I was full!!
The price of this place is excellent and we will definately stay again.

This is a beautiful, spacious house in a quiet location with lovely rural views to the coast. Our room was luxurious and finished to a very high standard. There is plenty of parking space and we were offered a cream cake and tea on arrival! Breakfast was a treat, too, and the common areas are very spacious so it feels very Covid-safe. This was a perfect stop-over en route for Scotland as it is conveniently close to the M6, yet rural and quiet. However, it would be equally desirable for anyone holidaying in the area. Highly recommended!

I hadn't been here for many years but was on a nostalgic trip with my Father to the Lake District who has stayed here many times and we were so looking forward to visiting again and we weren't disappointed. Such a wonderful welcome from Tom who carried our bags and showed us to our fab rooms and then made us a cafetiere of coffee and brought a tray with the sandwiches we had ordered with crisps and yummy chocolate brownie just lovely. The rooms had such stunning country views and were very well appointed. Large super comfortable beds you just didn't want to get out of!! Spotlessly clean and well maintained throughout I had a bath and a shower so I was able to have a relaxing soak using the local Bath House products provided a real luxury for me it was just so peaceful and we felt so at home. Mel was so attentive a fantastic host who just knows how to make you feel at ease again a very welcoming and warm person who clearly loves what she does and it shows. My room was very spacious with 2 televisions no less. There were generous coffee and tea making facilities and a few goodies in the fridge. I even noticed dressing gowns in the generous wardrobes too. If you are looking for a getaway in stunning countryside this is the perfect place to escape from it all for a while. Great breakfast choices too.

Outstanding B&B hosted by Mel who could not have made us feel more welcome. Superb, quiet rural location, spotless rooms finished to a high standard and marvelous home cooked breakfast.
We stayed for two nights and took evening meals in a village pub serving basic but good pub food around 5 mins drive away. There is a good selection of local restaurants within easy driving distance or a short taxi journey. Mel kindly e-mailed us a few recommendations so we could pre book.
A most enjoyable stay in a great location for visiting the area, including being only 15 minutes by car from Leighton Moss RSPB reserve. Will definitely return when next visiting the area.

We stayed here for a 3 day break, only wish we had booked to stay longer. Mel and her family were perfect hosts going out of their way to make our stay perfect. The house and gardens were amazing. Our room was spotless and the scrumptious breakfasts set us up for daily trips exploring this wonderful part of England. We will certainly stay here again and would not hesitate in recommending it to anyone who hasn't been lucky enough to have already stayed there.
