Room was beautiful, clean, comfortable and had everything I needed.
Fresh milk left in the room fridge was an added bonus along with a delicious cake.
I also had a cooked breakfast, again absolutely fabulous. I stayed for 2 nights and I feel the value of the room to be very very reasonable.
Can't wait to go back again!

Absolutely fantastic visit - booked it on the day of travel. We were met with warm welcoming smiles and coffee & cakes in the lounge. The property is very spacious property and has a very homely feeling to it. The large lounge has a couple of games available for guests.
The bedroom which was ensuite was immaculate and a good size with locally made toiletries which were also available to buy. Blackout blinds on windows overlooking spectacular views

We needed an earlier than advertised breakfast which was accomadated for and was top quality food - a full english and fresh fruits for myself and the biggest bowl of porridge for my son. Fruit juice was served in individual glass bottles.

Mel offered to put our equipment in the garage for safe storage when we arrived.

Cant wait for the next visit to the area as this will be our first port of call for booking accomodation. Thank you Mel for your amazing hospitality

On arrival we received a lovely warm welcome and when showed to our rooms, we were asked if we wanted tea or coffee. There were already the facilities in the room but we said yes anyway as we had had a long day and it was a nice gesture.
What a wonderful first impression as they arrived with complimentary fresh coffee, tea and cakes! That set our stay off to such a great start and was so appreciated.
The beds were comfortable and there was a seating area well appointed. Large bathroom with wall in shower and loved the extras of cotton buds and cotton wool pads which were handy
In the room there was a guest folder with information on the area including where to eat which we took advantage of and had dinner at a local pub
The house is in a quiet location and surrounded by countryside
Breakfast was fantastic and cooked perfectly. Service was excellent throughout

We wish we could have stayed longer, but instead we hope to revisit in the future if we get the opportunity

We got the feeling the guest house is very well looked after and loved and the owners enjoy what they do. We loved every moment of our stay

Capernwray House

The location of this venue warrants 5 stars alone. The host, Mel welcomed us very warmly on arrival and offered us tea and coffee after our journey. The drinks arrived beautifully presented together with homemade cakes. And the best little touch, bone China crockery.
The room and bathroom where enormous, spotlessly clean and fantastically equipped with high end products.
The bed was huge and mega comfortable
Breakfast was as well simply sensational. The coffee served in a Bodum was amazing. Stunning full breakfast with zero grease on the plate and enough toast, cereal, fresh fruit salad to feed an army.
Would I recommend this venue.? Take this a big fat yes.

We really enjoyed our 3 night stay at Capernwray house at the end of February. From our arrival it was evident that this was going to be a great place to stay. The food was exceptional and the range of different options for breakfast impressive, plentiful and well cooked. Our room was spacious, with lovely views over the garden, and views to the surrounding countryside.

Capernwray House is well located for visiting Lancaster, Morecambe, Kendal, the Lakes, Dales and the coast, there is so much to see and do.

Mel is a great host and we would have no hesitation in recommending Capernwray House to anyone.

I first visited this B&B 25 years ago with friends for a weekend and as I was travelling through the area decided to revisit and stay for a night. The owner is still the same, Mel Smith, and a great welcome offering tea and coffee which she made while I settled into my room. I call it a room but it was a mini suite in my view. Large double bedroom with a desk, two comfortable chairs and a coffee table. Also there was a fridge with still and sparkling water as well as a jug of fresh milk, which is a nice touch rather then UHT little capsules. Also as well as the obligatory buscuits were also some crisps. Shower room was immaculate and a good size shower as well with plenty of toiletries and big fluffy towels. Breakfast the next morning gave a huge selection of different types of breakfast from the usual full English breakfast to pancakes with maple syrup, fish, and a huge selection of juices and fresh fruit, cereal, croissants etc. I had cereal, full English and toast and that kept me going until dinner that evening. Once again it is the small detail that sets this B&B above others I have stayed in. Proper small milk bottles instead of UHT or jugs, your choice of juice in a bottle rather from a carton on the side. Home made jams, marmalade and honey with a honey stick also on the plate. If you are in the area then this place is well worth a visit and only wish I was there a few more days, which was also mentioned by other residents over breakfast.

We stayed 6/11/21 and Mel was in touch prior to arriving to ensure our stay was perfect. She was very friendly and welcoming, the homemade cakes on arrival were a lovely touch and they were delicious!

Our room had everything we could need with a very comfortable bed with quality linen and luxury toiletries which were available to purchase too. There was a mini fridge and fresh milk along with a welcome variety of savoury snacks, sweet snacks and a verity of biscuits and lovely choice of teas and coffees.

After a good nights sleep, breakfast was plentiful - there was a choice a cereals and pastries with prepared fresh fruit and berries and full English cooked to order with the often missing mushrooms and black pudding along with toast and homemade preserves and honey. A filling start to the day.

Great value for money and I would most definitely stay again and highly recommend!

We had a very friendly greeting from Mel on our arrival which included a tray of tea or filter coffee with fantastic homemade cake which we enjoyed in the lounge. The bedroom was large and comfortable with everything that we wanted including two easy chairs and a fridge with fresh milk. The en-suite bathroom was also large with a big walk in shower. There was a great selection to choose for breakfast. This was well cooked and presented well. We will certainly return if we are in the area again.

Beautifully positioned in its own grounds, with country views all around and ample parking. Our room was large with a super big double bed and a single bed, small table with two armchairs, large TV, small fridge with milk and bottles of water provided, and coffee/tea/hot chocolate making facilities. The en-suite shower room had a large shower cubical with an additional hand held showerhead. We could not fault anything.
Breakfast was magnificent, with many choices (the fresh fruit salad was enough for the two of us to share), the full English delicious and the smoked haddock, poached egg and Hollandaise sauce so tasty.
But the most important part of our stay was the proprietress, Mel. Nothing was too much trouble, from the first friendly greeting to our departure. Made to feel welcome throughout our stay. Highly recommended.

This is a beautiful, spacious house in a quiet location with lovely rural views to the coast. Our room was luxurious and finished to a very high standard. There is plenty of parking space and we were offered a cream cake and tea on arrival! Breakfast was a treat, too, and the common areas are very spacious so it feels very Covid-safe. This was a perfect stop-over en route for Scotland as it is conveniently close to the M6, yet rural and quiet. However, it would be equally desirable for anyone holidaying in the area. Highly recommended!
