I am pleased to say that over the last 5 years I have always enjoyed my stays at the Old Rectory. Chris and Sally are always very welcoming. The food is always to a very good standard. Very much feels like home from home.

We only visited for a meal with friends but we were very disappointed with the meal and service, both were mediocre. Such a shame as we had high hopes from the reviews but certainly would not return. Lovely sitting room but that was all unfortunately.

2nd time of staying, Chris and his team were very welcoming- you can't beat being sat in the drawing room having a beer brought to you whilst in front of the fire after a days work! Not to mention dinner, which was fresh and delicious- Beef with Parsnip and Celeriac mash was a particular highlight with the homemade terrine to... More

Arrived on a cold and wet November evening. Received a very warm welcome and a free upgrade!! Room was fabulous and the bed was so comfy. Breakfast fantastic, all waitress served. All staff we met were fantastic. Will definitely stay there again and also try the restaurant.

Stayed for one night whilst in Norwich for business. I had a beautiful room overlooking the pool with a huge bathroom. Whilst waiting for dinner I sat in the lounge where a fire had been lit. Dinner was excellent, lovely fresh local produce. Breakfast was also good. The host was very friendly. I just wish I had been able to... More

We only stayed one night after a day of shopping but wish we could have stayed longer. It turned out it was a slow night so we were the only guests and the staff were incredibly welcoming. The house was beautiful outside and in with huge trees in the front garden and a lovely view from the windows. Our deluxe... More

We stayed just one night at this lovely old rectory. We had a large double ensuite room at the top of the house. Every modern convenience with lovely period furniture. We had dinner in the restaurant which was lovely, can definitely recommend the veal. We had our coffee in the lounge which was very cosy with its big log burner... More

I came with a group of ten and we got the friendliest welcome! This is a family-run business. The rooms are spotlessly clean and the food is excellent. The service, done by the grandpa in the morning was ever so charming. The house is situated in a wonderful park-like garden.

Chris and Sally once again made us very welcome at their delightful country house hotel on the outskirts of Norwich, this was our third visit to celebrate my birthday. Our room was, as usual, excellent. A large double with en-suite facilities, which was well maintained. We only had room and breakfast, as we wanted to have flexibility, but nevertheless nothing... Official Description (provided by the hotel)
The Old Rectory, Norwich's only AA 4* Gold 'Restaurant with Rooms' is a beautiful Georgian House, with adjoining Victorian Coach House, standing in an acre of mature secluded gardens on the eastern fringes of Norwich, overlooking the Yare valley and Thorpe Marshes nature reserve . We offer warm hospitality and friendly service to discerning travellers in a welcoming and relaxing atmosphere. Every morning, you can enjoy a delicious breakfast, cooked to order and served to your table. Our menu features local sausages, bacon, ham and eggs, Chef's own toasted muesli, thick yoghurt with home-made fruit compote, and artisan bread from a Norwich baker. Our Dining Room is open Tuesday to Saturday evenings (closed Sunday / Monday), with a daily changing 2 AA Rosette menu featuring freshly prepared, locally sourced, seasonal produce. The elegant intimate, Georgian panelled room has just six tables so be sure to book dinner in advance as we regret we cannot guarantee availability of a table, nor a particular time, where dinner reservations have not been made prior to arrival. The Old Rectory is 2 miles from Norwich railway station (services to London, Cambridge, the Norfolk Coast and intermediate stations) and the city centre with its Norman Castle and Cathedral, medieval churches, excellent shopping facilities and open air market. Norwich International Airport (flights to Manchester, Edinburgh, Aberdeen and international flights via the KLM hub at Amsterdam Schipol) is 5 miles. The Norfolk Broads National Park and the sandy beaches of the east coast are a short drive, and many historic houses, nature reserves, gardens etc are within easy reach. ... more   less
