Having waited more than 2 years to travel again we looked forward to are next travel experience with excitement and having read the reviews booked this 4* hotel.

The rooms are modern in appearance with all the amenities you need and expect from a 4* Hotel, with a good powerful hot shower. I was a little surprise that the room safe was an extra charge and that beach towels required a deposit.

Although the mattress was comfortable, the pillows were not and the sheets are not fitted an soon became uncomfortable by riding up with any slight movement.

The meals were good apart from the fact that every meal was cold , including the soup and even after complaining and have the soup reheated it still came back cold. This continued for the remaining 2 weeks of are stay.
We were not the only guests to complain every day about the cold food. Sadly we ended eating out more than we expected. The food is cooked and then transported from their sister hotel, hence the cold food, having seen the Daily food transport come and go every meal time.

The restaurant and bar area are open air and as soon as it rained both became unusable and with no plan B, Guests had to miss meals and wait for the rain to stop.
They have a sister Hotel 100m down the road and I asked if we might use their restaurant but no one seem to know what to do.

The pool looks nice and you would expect one at a 4 * Hotel but no one uses it, and it was not cleaned during the two weeks of our stay, we know this as the sand had not been removed from the bottom. It is positioned right in front of where people eat and the area could be better used for more space for the restaurant and extra overhead cover from the sun/rain.

The bar is large enough for guests but the drinks are all locally produced, there are branded top shelf drinks but even on all inclusive status you pay extra for these and they even charge for bottled water.

I found the immediate staff to be helpful and friendly and a credit to the Hotel .

On paper this should be a great Hotel in a good location across from the beach but sadly let down by poor kitchen and restaurant layout and working practice's.

Unfortunately we will not be returning to this hotel under its current situation and hope the management except that these issues need addressing.

Rarely do we complain about minor issues but this was a 2 week break and even complaining on site , did not result in any changes been implemented by management or even offering an apology.

We came on 15th April with the expectations of the food being amazing. It was far from it. It was repetitive, Luke warm, bland, unknown meat and not a lot of it. Snacks consist of dry ham and cheese sandwiches approx 20 triangles and some stale loaf cake slices.
The all inclusive times changed everyday no soft drinks before half 10 and pay after 11pm.
There’s only 1 seating area which is right next to the pool and if it rains expect to get wet as there’s minimal cover.
There’s no loungers at the pool as it’s in the seating area for food and drinks.
There’s not enough seating for the amount of guests and we aren’t even in peak season, we were turned away a couple of times at tea time due to no seats available and told to wait in reception or go out.
The beach is over the road with free loungers and plenty of them which is pretty much the only saving grace.
Everyone received free slippers bar us.
The majority of the staff are quite rude and unhelpful.
The rooms are cleaned daily as expected but to a minimal standard not sure our floors were cleaned in the week we stayed.
The bathroom is tiny and the whole “bathroom” floods as soon as the shower goes on and takes 2 days to dry.
Fresh towels daily.
The toilet roll holder was hanging off, mould on the ceiling, holes in the wall.
The sister hotel mare boutique is down the street and we aren’t allowed to use their facilities yet all their guests come to our hotel.
No one seems to have a straight answer for anything even as simple as why is no one on the bar on a morning when there’s people waiting for drinks.
We spent £550 each to be here and have spent over €500 eating out everyday to try and get a decent meal.
For the price we paid and the experience we’ve had I wouldn’t rate it and I wouldn’t recommend it to friends or family.
The reviews were amazing for this hotel hence why we booked and I can guarantee they are all fake or at least the “amazing” ones anyway.

I had a relaxing stay at this hotel which overall I enjoyed. I’m disabled and use a stick, I found staff helpful and considerate especially Dennis the barman.

Negatives: Minor ones, Meals could be hotter, rooms could be cleaned better (Sand covered our floor for duration of trip). Usual all inclusive fare and drinks but English breakfast could be improved with quality baked beans and decent bacon and sausages.

Major negatives: Bathroom floods after shower due to bad design. This is extremely dangerous as it’s very slippery with no rails or safety features. I asked for a mop but the cleaner just mopped up, put some towels on the floor and left. Restaurant area is small and outdoors with insufficient cover it also acts as bar and poolside lounge. We got splashed a few times whilst eating. Again bad design. On our last day we were told there is a €20 for the sun loungers closest to the sea as it was high season. This is unreasonable as it’s not possible to lounge by the pool.

Positives, most staff are friendly and helpful. Quite good service considering Staff seem to work long hours, looked like 12 hour days from my vantage spot overlooking the restaurant/pool. Manager was on site a lot while we were there. He was friendly, helpful and approachable. Bathroom was well stocked with toiletries. We had a late night flight but was allowed to keep our room until 2pm and stay on site and have meals and drinks until our transfer arrived at 8.30pm all free of charge.

Unfortunately because of the major negatives I can’t give a 4 star rating but once these improvements are worked on this hotel will definitely be a 4 star with good potential.

If you’re looking for something simple and want to be autonomous on your holiday, then this is the place for you. Located on the beach in a lovely, fairly quiet area with restaurants and bars. Most of the staff are nice, especially those in the restaurant and bar.

However, this is definitely a 3-star hotel. Although the rooms look nice and relatively work well (again, if you just want a place to sleep), be prepared for the shower to leak across the bathroom, the lights to not work, the TV to be static and no bottled water (even if you’re all-inclusive). We were told to buy some from the shop if needed.

The food is very basic, perhaps not for picky eaters. Be prepared to eat on your balcony during busy periods, as there isn’t enough seating for all guests (this isn’t often though, just a heads up in case).

They offer a late check-in service for an additional fee, but don’t hold your breath. We were told on arrival to ask the day before, the day before to ask the following morning, only to be told that it was “impossible” and had to check out within the hour. This would be fine if they had a luggage room (your luggage is left in the reception which isn’t always manned) and access to a public shower that doesn’t have a door.

Please lock your door before you go to sleep as the cleaning staff will enter without knocking in the early morning.

All in all, if you’re not too fussed and want a simple stay, this will do.

This hotel and experience was the complete opposite of what I expected based on these reviews.

1st of all, the pictures of the room you recieve are deceptive. I paid for the most expensive room and recieved a twin room, I had no balcony, so had to use the landing with 0 privacy. They refused to change my room to the original one I booked and claimed that they was all reserved. I recieved no compensation.

2nd, my door would not lock. We could only lock it from the inside, which meant only one of us could go out at a time otherwise anyone could access our room. We ended up missing breakfast because they didn't come to fix the door until 11.30am the next day.

3rd, I arrived at night, and when I went to get in the bed, my pillow had a blood stain on it, the night receptionist Katy promptly dealt with this, but the experience made me feel uncomfortable sleeping in the bed.

4th, the bathroom floods, I am assuming its supposed to be a wet room but the way they have constructed it is extremely poor. It is a massive hazard as it is very easy to slip and hurt yourself.

5th, the maids do not clean the room thoroughly, they do the bare minimum.

6th, the restaurant is right next to the pool, which means you cannot swim comfortably. The seating is also limited so you may not get a table to sit down and eat.

The food and drinks are ok. You have to pay daily tax upon arrival and you must check out of your room at 11am on the day of your departure. So if you have a night time flight, you'll have to find a way to keep yourself occupied.

In all, this holiday has been a complete let down from start to finish, I absolutely would not return nor would I recommend. I booked this hotel based on the good reviews and my experience was far from. The only highlight to this experience was Dennis the barman. The staff are not as helpful as these reviews claim. I would advise that you choose a different hotel.

Food- tasty food (I would say 3 out of 5), perfect for people who don’t like intense flavoured food. I was having there all inclusive experience and can say there is choice of different food for breakfast, lunch, dinner (rice, pasta, meet, fish, etc.)

Rooms- I liked the design, everything pretty clean and simple. Clean towels everyday as well as shampoo, shower gel, conditioner. No toothpaste and brush provided.

I’ve been there for 7 days, all inclusive experience. I would say it’s not worth it to get the all inclusive as we were tempted to go eat in the city, especially in the evenings. The area is really quite, no parties, clubs gor anything like that going on.
First thing we didn’t like when we came was the room fee of €49, which we didn’t know about and it wasn’t specified anywhere. The first row of sunbeds are €25 per day(this includes 2 free mojitos which cost between €6-€8). The other rows are free in front of the hotel. Even though we had the all inclusive experience, there are only 3 cocktails that are free, the rest you have to pay for. If you want to have some cheap and local drinks, they are free, however if, for example you want to have some Black Label, you have to pay for it as well (€8 per shot or something like that). If you want a glass of still water, it’s free, but a plastic bottle of still water is €0.5.

The WiFi in my room was not working and I asked them if they can do anything about it 3 times, but the issue was not resolved.

Overall I would say 3 out of 5 as all of this was not specified anywhere before booking the hotel.

Setting the standards for the area of Georgioupolis, Mare Blue Hotel is combining the perfect location for vacation by the seashore with professional services and amenities. The rooms are everyday cleaned and service is available at a notice. Breakfast, lunch and dinner are designed by a professional chef, using local, fresh products. The owners are a tight family, with a legacy in tourism and hospitality industry. Highly recommended for a warm and memorable stay in Crete.

If I'm honest with you I didn't fall in love with the hotel when I first arrived. However, I've been here for a week and I have grown to like it the more i stay here. My wife really likes the hotel and I'm finding it a friendly and inviting place. Certainly, it is very peaceful.

The room is comfortable and meticulously cleaned every day. The food is basic, but okay. The only real issue is the lack of cover in the dining area if you are unlucky and get a rainy day.

On the beach is a private area with sun loungers and gazebos. The latter costing 20 euros per day, but you get 2 free drinks worth 4 euros each so the gazebo actually only costs 12 euros.

All the staff, the cleaners, the barstaff, the waitresses and the reception are all incredibly friendly and helpful. The hotel is just a build, the staff really give it its heart.

I'm happy we chose this hotel and we will be back next year.

Well I had a lovely holiday. The staff were lovely the room was lovely, the food was good. Directly opposite the beach, best of all no kids screaming about.

But one thing i could say is by god them cleaners are loud on a morning, I don't think I ever slept past 9. Doors slaming and banging about. I totelly understand they have a job to do I'm a housekeeping supervisor myself iv done the job.

There's a little touch screen pad in your room that indicates to a panel outside if you want your room serviced or do not disturb. I had made sure every day to tap on the "do not disturb" button, I had brought my own bin bags and baught cleaning products while I was over there, I never need a cleaner to come in i was happy drying my towels off and taking my own rubbish out and if I needed anything reception is always there, yet I seen the cleaners in my room and I told them I don't need it cleaning. I told the reception i don't need my room serviced and I even wrote a note on my door in there language that I don't need any one to come in my room to clean. Yet they would still try the door on a morning and they would still knock and when we were out they would still come in and make up the room. I even had my own door hanger that said "do not disturb" I don't know how much more I could tell them.

And the WiFi only works if your in the main building or at reception. I had emailed before my arrival that I'd like a room out of the way as I'm a light sleeper and they delivered. But I was right out the way and the WiFi diddent reach.

This hotel is ABSOLUTELY HORRENDOUS we booked a suite with a garden view room 22 is what we received and can only be described as a cold damp dark cellar which should never be let out to paying guests no hot water for 2 days the tv keeps losing signal and you might as well be sat in the bar/restaurant with the smell of cigarettes constantly coming into the room. The noise from the bar is horrendous untill 1am every night then you can here every conversation that turned into arguments practically every night the hotel management have zero authority/management skills and let guests do what they want. The food is the worst I’ve experienced at any inclusive hotel it’s always cold and is delivered in the back of a scruffy van as there is no kitchen at this hotel is made offsite and transported here 4/5 times a day food hygiene is to be questioned. For every bad review they receive seems they get 3 good ones from someone with 1 contribution mmmmm seems legit lol. If you reading this please please don’t waste your money and book somewhere else not from the mare group on check out the receptionist didn’t even raise her head from the computer and couldn’t give a hoot about our stay.
