We booked this "hut" on the Alta Via trek months in advance. Rooms were above the dining room. At dinner (6 hours after check-in) we were told there was a wedding rehearsal dinner that night. From 8-1230 pm loud music was played. Floor vibrated from...More
Fanes is the larger of two rifugios (the other is Lavarella) near each other in the Fanes-Sennes park, accessible by the Alta Via, a walking route from La Val over the Ju du Sant Antone pass, or a rough jeep track running from a third...More

Most people do the hike the other way. The hardest parts from Lagazuoi to Fanes will be the descent from Lagazuoi to the lake, then the climb up through the pass - a steep switchback climb. this is a few hours walking there, with a drop of 700+ metres, followed by a 300m gain in altitude over only a few kilometres. after that it is all plain sailing and relatively flat with a slight up hill to Fanes. Getting to town from Fanes will be relatively difficult if you don't prebook someone to pick you up and that will be a reasonable cost - probably 150 euros.
